@@user27455 the automatic transmission of hyundai are not reliable as of skoda automatic are reliable there is no maintenance issue in that but hyundai automatic especially dct is not reliable there is no sense to buy dct variant if u purchase hyundai go for manual only

@faisal md... I had the Accent sold then moved to Fabia and now i20 Active... Nothing beats a Skoda... I am not getting the feel of driving in a Hyundai. There's absolutely ZERO weight on the steering which maybe good for city ride but my driving is on the highway. Sometimes I felt like I fell into the "Equipment Trap". On the other hand, Skoda has very limited service network. There's just 1 for the whole of Chennai; which should not be the case. Not that we'll need to to the service center very often but just to have peace of mind. If only they build a good network like the build if their cars...

When turbo engines needs to work hard and cant take much heat and causes heat soaking faster. components fails, turbo also makes the cylinders work harder and faster, you cant ignore the engineering science and thermal heat, applied engineering and thermodynamics behind this. IT would be only foolish to say turbos will last.

Being a rapid owner since 2013, Tbh its really just a car in all its basic features (the only 'tech' it has is auto AC, ABS and EBD) but in the long term hasn't given any problems and driving dynamics are still quite good.

Exactly, I have a 2013 Rapid. Has run 1.7 lakh km and still runs like it was new. Totally underrated car. I also have a 2015 ciaz. The ciaz is more fuel efficient and comfortable, but the rapid is solid to drive and to be in.

Thanks for a nice and balanced review. Earlier I owned Rapid diesel and now the 1.6 Petrol engine. I chose Rapid just for the confidence it gives you while driving especially the handling dynamics and sharp braking. Now I have opted for 4 years service package which makes the maintenance very cheap. Even when the rear seat is cramped with 3 passengers, none complained of any back pain. The cars like Ciaz which have a larger space were not so comfortable as rapid. Rapid is a decent and worthy car with all the essential ingredients.

I prefer fastest Rapid. 0-100 under 10second is great in this car price. So I bought Skoda. There is lot of place inside and in trunk. I trust much more to Skoda.

Keyless entry, sunroof, ventilated seats, good comfortable ride quality. 1.0L TGDI is a good performer. Only problem is the steering feel which is not a big deal for the majority of the buyers. Also service network and cost, Hyundai wins hands down. So Verna IS the winner in this comparison. But Honda City is the best car now.

The rapid is only better because Hyundai detuned these engines to 1.5 and childish 1.0l turbo. Put it up against the earlier generation Verma petrol and watch it lose. Not even bringing the diesel 1.6 verna, that one would swallow a rapid for dinner any day of the week.

Choosing wisely is the answer! At 8.7 the Rapid Rider TSI is simply the best option leave alone the Fuel Efficiency, Maintenance etc... incredibly VFM..if you had to choose between a Monte Carlo vs Verna 1.0 then the Verna does have some leverage of being a little modern..Cabin space is similar in both from a utilisation perspective...

@@NishantSharma-cv9ww 5000 is cheap dude. I have a vento thats 10 years old now.. I got her serviced last month. 12000 on service. I got her lights replaced as they were getting yellow. 8000. Engine mount was makimg noise.. 3000. V belt bearing.. 5000.. Total put together it cost me 27000.. And now her brake discs are due that will cost a whopping 18000 also.. 😅 welcome to Germany. But i dont regret a bit of it.

It's difficult to understand hw can a SEDAN have all the bells n whistles( many of which r unwanted for lot many)but no rear SPACE. ...what's the utility of 10 inch touch screen n so many buttons on steering?if a person is driving in India's traffic then he will b busy enough negotiating with bikers n on highway he will b having enough time to get his hands to the infotainment system if he is not LAZY enough...it's driving N ride comfort that matters a lot in case of VEHICLE other than that for entertainment a person can purchase a MOBILE..

u need to read service manual carefully otherwise u will face very inflation in bills which will not be justified at all because in India service are managed by Indian dealers they try to make fool of customer this is because of so much hype of skoda created in India make sure that which part will change at how much kilometre and negotiate with service centre u will not make stand then then will charge u excessive

I own a vento tdi 2013 . Volkswagen and skoda are way ahead of hyundai and honda . Even you should not compare them with these . If you have to comapre do it with verna and city. Vento is a class apart car . Verna and others are just peace of trash in front of it.

I think its better to go Skoda Rapid ... bcs of pricing almost 6 lakhs is the price difference... You can fit every extras less than 1 lakh ... as aftermarket accesories.... so... almost we can save around 5 lakhs... Go for Rapid rider varient... fit all the xtra accesories aftermarket.... Then enjoy the drive... Actually.... use the saved 5 lakhs on petrol... you can roughly drive around 80000 kms... LOL... Always A skoda is Skoda and Hyundai is Hyundai.... example compare i Phone vs Redmi ...

@@harryronal7651 actually Skoda cars are serviced in the interval of 15000 kms... and actually it costs around 11000 to 13000 for 15000 kms.... costs around 85 paise per km brother....

Rapid for the one who loves driving, The car immediately puts a smile on the face once that key is turned. I agree features can be important to some extent and the Verna comes loaded but I am not looking for a tech product here. Its a car and the idea is to enjoy the ride not the gadgets.

It is an understated fact that SKODA is still leading the game with almost 10 Yr old cars in each segment. It's such a shame for S. Korean and Japanese(I love japan) car brands that they are still loosing and just edging a lazy old competitor. Rapid - Verna Octavia - Civic- Corolla Superb - Camry SKODA❤️

I am driving skoda Fabia since 2011, it is so good and satisfying. I drove also other cars, but no cars till date matches the quality of Fabia driving, features and comfort. Every year I see news cars are getting launched, but the quality is deteriorating. I also have hyundai i20, the suspension and braking are poor. If anyone looking for a balanced car, it is skoda.

@racer boii I had the Accent sold then moved to Fabia in 2010 and now i20 Active since 2017... Nothing beats a Skoda... Skoda felt solid. I am not getting the feel of driving in a Hyundai. The Hyundai is smooth and quick but not confidence inspiring. There's absolutely ZERO weight on the steering which maybe good for city ride but my driving is on the highway. Sometimes I felt like I fell into the "Equipment Trap" and took a wrong decision. On the other hand, Skoda has very limited service network. There's just 1 for the whole of Chennai; which should not be the case. Not that we'll need to to the service center very often but just to have peace of mind. If only they build a good network like the build if their cars... Also, the after sales experience wasn't that great with Skoda.

Once you compare the after sales service and availability of parts of both the manufacturers , i wont even consider buying something like a skoda or a vw here in India. (Fun fact - my frnd’s skoda octavia’s windscreen replacement took 12 working days.) for me the comparison ends here. Having a gr8 product to brag about but flimsy after sales ntwk is a big deterrent. (The sales figures are a testimonial of the same)

Well said. A good, peace and reliable ownership experience is also very important. They (Skoda- VW) failed in that part. They are successful only in the markets where they provide a good ownership experience (A to Z). But they failed to do it in India. Also the rapid is going to celebrate 10 years in India, with almost same unchanged from the beginning.

I bought Skoda Rapid on 2021. Happy owner. It’s the most powerful car. Happy to see rapid supporting comments. You can blame anything. Same design no keyless or sunroof whatever but performance wise no other sedan can beat Rapid 🔥 According to me comparing Rapid with other cars itself a shitty one. Rapid is incomparable 🔥

Much awaited comparison. Very good review. #Hyundai should offered 1.4L Turbo in the Verna at least as an option. Cause #Verna and #Creta are the same B segment vehicle. Earlier they doing the same engine option in #Verna and #Creta. On the other hand #SkodaRapid is VFM sporty sedan.

As an ex Hyundai owner and current Skoda owner, i would say, you can and should never compare a Hyundai with a Skoda/Volkswagen when it comes to sheer driving and thrill. I mean, not even Honda. If you're buying a car to drive around your family, then you should definitely go for the Korean or the Japanese.

It started of way back when fluidic verna was released and some reviewers mentioned the steering is light. Ever since then the skoda nd vw fanboys have been belting on the same shit and keep degrading the verna. I own a vento TDI and there is only subtle difference in handling of both the vento nd verna. sure vento does feel more planted because of the speed sensitive steering but it is not a make or break deal. The difference is just about 10%. vw nd skoda was good a decade back but i wouldnt recommend to anyone buying that now. there is absolutely no difference from my 2013 model to the present 2020 model apart from the engine. Hyundai and honda on the other hand offer so much more heck even maruti offers so much. These people do not understand that the car is experience is a mix of both driving and comforts offered for the price we pay. And these are just 1.0 - 1.5l cars and people go berserk stating like these are GT cars with stuff like triple digit speeds and high speed stability. consumers aren't idiots to buy an old product when they can get the latest technology at the same price from another brand. Fanboys comment on verna/city is BS and vw/skoda is amazing is not gonna hurt the former sales and people will keep making the sensible choice. they think that their half-knowledge is better than companies investing millions in R&D before releasing a product.

Rear disc or drum does not effect braking time. Rear brake is connected to handbrake.

overall rapid is better in terms of ride quality, no bump enter in the cabin, feels better insulated and safe, verna is no where near to vw tsi technology, and for vernas top end price better to go with a suv at that price, its just way too overpriced for a product which is just ok (average).

Hey. How did the Verna win? The manufacturers intention for these sportier variants is quicker, fun to drive cars. And the rapid is a clear winner on that. If you are looking for comfort and convenience Verna diesel makes more sense than this slower petrol variant. And the Rapid is also cheaper in comparison...

Coming from a smartphone geek like me, The skoda is like the new iPhone se, while the Hyundai although flashy comes across like the regular OnePlus 8. The basics like longetivity, space and drivability favours the skoda although being less fancy. Verna is more of gimmick than actual basics done right.

I think it is a biased review! How can you pronounce Verna as a clear winner? When it has a lethargic engine, it understeers and has soft floaty suspension which makes car unstable on highways and at fast speeds. Engine vibration is prominent and is felt in the seats and build quality is no-where close to Rapid. Only because it has a few gimmicks and a flashy design makes Verna a better car? Car's primary purpose is to provide good engine performance, confidence-inspiring ride and handling and a strong built so that occupants inside the car can feel safe and Rapid is way better in all these departments. Still, you concluded that Verna is a better car. Why??

I wouldn’t agree Rapid is great on price, build quality, comfort, high way stability, engine, quality & fit and finish are way ahead of the cheap build quality and fancy features of Verna.
