2020 iPad Air 4 review 

That’s actually a great question, and I’ve been thinking about it. The processor in the 2018 iPad is almost the same as in 2020 iPad Pro, so also similar to A14. It has the same amount of ram, but rocks 120Hz display. And has Face ID vs Touch ID. And quad speakers. And brighter display than Air. Well. Actually 2018 pro is pretty similar to 2020 one minus ram, but can be found for cheaper. I actually added link to refurbished one on amazon and it cost the same as iPad Air! 😳 in that case totally iPad Pro 2018 > air 4. The air has cool colors though ;p

The Air is great, because it has great price, and normally the pro is 200$ more expensive. And in that case I think air is better value. But if you can buy the pro for the same price, than I think it’s just a little bit better ;)

@@BernardWalter So let's say I got the student deal with the AirPods for the iPad pro-2020. Do you think that is a better choice? In other words, if the price of both products is practically the same, which one would you chose?

Well, I expect pro to be refreshed this spring, so I wouldn’t recommend 2020 pro now, if you can wait. But it’s worth considering the 2018 pro. It has basically identical chip to 2020 model, so very comparable to new Air. It has 4gb of ram - same as the air, and still has the 120hz screen of pro, which is great. I actually put links to them in the description so you can check them out (and Amazon refurbished has 90day return policy, which is also great to try it out). There is even 2020 iPad Pro with 128gb for 100$ more than air, which is great value IMO. To sum up - for students both iPads are great because of usb c port (really game changing) power and battery. And portability. It’s great to have all the books at hand in such small device and note taking can be as simple as with paper and as robust as on computer! You really can’t go wrong here :) As of space, it depends how much you rely on cloud, like google drive. 64 may be enough to have some books there, and couple other apps, but movies and photos tend to take space fast! 128gb was really good sweet spot for me, as it was manageable. But, you can always buy cheap usb c drive and store something there. If you want to do something extra, like game, or edit videos (I do) it will need more than 64. But for studying related stuff 64 will be enough.

Well, few years ago iPad couldn’t replace a MacBook, but now, It’s totally viable option! You may need a keyboard for it, depending on your work, but the power, apps and capabilities are all there. Question, if 11” aren’t too little for you? Also, on 17.11 Apple is said to unveil new 12” MacBook for 799$ 👀 so I’m waiting for this first!
