I love Lance's campers. I'm poor, but I wish I had a good truck and one if their campers! I would live in it and travel all over.

you're going to need a big truck to pull this though. If you're willing to pay that might as well get a trailer. I mean boondocking options goes down a bit but you'll be alright with what's available.

Oh my goodness. Somebody used the word _routers_ correctly. Thank you. Great camper too. Too many people, including those who should know better, have been saying _rout_ when they mean _route._ Usually, context compensates but, for example, a _trade rout_ is very different from a _trade route._ The IT industry has spread the mispronunciation of the devices that route information, hopefully they don’t rout it, but actually, I think the first time I heard it mispronounced was back in the ‘80s. It’s not one of those US vs UK things, by the way. Everyone used to say _route._ Think, _Route 66._

Why would a camper with a wet weight over 4,000 lbs have swing-out jacks as "optional"??? At this weight, anything BUT a dually would be reckless!

Thank you for this video! I’m so obsessed with Lance Truck Campers. This is probably my 2nd favorite next to the 850. Hope to own one in the future. You mentioned a dually would be ideal, but could you use a single rear wheel as well? Also, why no 110 outlet in kitchen in any models (coffee pot, instant pot, mixer, etc). Can you do that as an option?
@campingworld
@campingworld 5 лет назад
Carolyn, I'm glad you're enjoying my videos and I agree that Lance Campers are pretty great. That being said, unfortunately I just can't recommend putting a 1062 on a SRW truck. With a wet weight of almost 4,100 lbs, that overloads just about every SRW 1 ton out there. So if you love the 1062, I would plan on getting a dually. As for the 110 outlet, I will have to go in the unit to verify, but I'm fairly certain there is one located under the cabinets by the light. Thanks so much for watching and for the question! -Ian Baker

Does Camping World provide installation services such as installing frame mounted tie downs on my truck? Also, my truck's payload is about 4700 pounds, would this 1062 be too much?
@campingworld
@campingworld 4 года назад
Yes, we can absolutely help with the tie downs and turnbuckles! Honestly, it's your call but in my personal opinion I'd say it's cutting it a little close. Here is my thought process...The WET weight of the 1062 (because most people travel with water and propane in a truck camper) is a little under 4,100 lbs. Add to this two people at an average 150 lb weight and you're up to 4,400 lbs. That only leaves you around 300 lbs for gear which is not enough in my opinion. Hopefully that helps and great questions! -Ian Baker

Wow, this is what we’re looking for, although may be out of luck. We have a GMC 2500 with the 6.0 Can you maybe suggest a lighter model? Awesome truck camper, Artic Fox and Lance comparable? U definitely know your way round a camper. Ty
@campingworld
@campingworld 4 года назад
Hey Al, thanks for the compliments. Yes, Lance and Arctic Fox are fairly comparable in quality. That being said, Lance truck campers are usually a little bit lighter for the equal size campers because Arctic Fox uses a wood core in their aluminum tubing for framing which adds weight. Unfortunately most of the larger slideout truck campers almost demand a dually simply because of the weight (despite what the manufacturer tries to say you can use). With truck campers you have to account for not just stuff packed and water/propane etc, but also the weight of the passengers in the truck and anything you pack in the truck. You could probably haul the Lance 850, but it's a long way from the 1062. Sorry I couldn't be of more help and good luck in your hunt! -Ian Baker

Camping World Good afternoon Ian, hope all is well. Been a little busy but wanted to ask you what brands you sell? Would like to purchase from you due to your helpful, immediate replies. Very rare, especially on YT. Do you sell Northernlite? Also don’t want to waste time looking at truck toppers that are too heavy for my GMC Sierra 2500HD. Some of your campers are amazing but they require a ton+ truck. Don’t think we need a slide as this unit is needed for enjoying the road while heading to some properties we have around our great nation. Glancing/listening to the vids while heading to work is helpful but will definitely have call you later today. Just need a few options to compare. Any truck campers with the 1062 quality options with a lighter footprint? Sorta can tell the total step down in materials with the smaller unit. (Wolf Creek 850) Actually the 855s looks great even with the slide. Thanks again for all your help and talk soon.

@@alursino3213 Hey Al, unfortunately they don't allow me to sell anymore...That being said, send me a email at Ian.Baker@campingworld.com and I'll make sure I get you in contact with a good friend of mine at the Grand Rapids location who has excellent truck camper knowledge (probably even more than myself as he's been selling truck campers for over 20 years!). He'll help determine what your truck can handle and help you find a lighter weight Lance, Arctic Fox or possibly a Wolf Creek. Thanks Al and I'll look for your email! -Ian Baker

I was very disappointed, I purchased and ordered a brand new 2009 lance camper with the new fiberglass siding. In eight years or so The lamination started to separate and it started to rot , today it sits in my backyard falling apart and I paid $18,000 for it.

Hmmm I agree it's a lot. There's always used or "lightly used" ones, though, and they are around 24k or less. Depends on what you find. As for purchasing a fifth wheel instead - I understand the point, but if you're looking at a truck-camper, you probably want the freedom, and maneuverability, of the compact size. You can fit in more locations, and you don't have to worry about towing. I would think a fifth-wheel is meant for someone who is going on long-trips where they find a spot and sit for several weeks, to several months. I don't really think a person would generally be sitting here thinking "hmm this fifth wheel, or that truck camper." They're meant for very different travel styles.

What does the 1062 indicate arne
@campingworld
@campingworld 4 года назад
Arne, the "10" in 1062 is because the model has over a 10 ft floor length. I'm not sure what the "62" designates however. Sorry I only have half the answer! -Ian Baker

2020 model?? Very strange, it is missing all the 2019 + changes, like the Jacks, the others were discontinued after 2018 and have a different remote, you can see the old one to the left of the inside step, missing the foot flush toilet, and on the large pull out drawers under the seats have a different handle.

'Interior' features which might have been useful. Completely ignored the stove/oven feature (I know, I know.......mostly can figure out on own, but still......). Also. The dinette. Changing into a bed. And include the size of the dinette bed when in use (that's important........most adults are uncomfortable in those beds under 6'.......).

I can understand the sticker shock as it is certainly more expensive per sq ft than a 5th wheel. However truck campers certainly have a lot of advantages as a style of camping and if you ask an avid truck camper person, they'll probably tell ya they wouldn't trade it for any other style of RV. Don't get me wrong, they're not for everyone, but believe me when I say that a lot of people will pay $50k+ for this camper. Thanks for watching and for the comment! -Ian Baker

Scott, I understand your frustration, however that is not the case. The website unfortunately is just not built to easily find truck campers. We have 3 locations that consistently stock new truck campers (Grand Rapids, MI / Denver, CO / Boise, ID). To navigate to truck campers, click on the "small campers" button along the top, then on the side panel you'll want to select just "truck campers" under the "floorplan" filter. I hope this helps and happy RV shopping! -Ian Baker
