2020 Lexus LX 570 | Proof that Dinosaurs are NOT Extinct 

This is one of the top selling vehicles in the Middle East especially the GCC gulf countries. It sells like hot cakes here in the UAE.

The definition of success here in the Dominican Republic is owning one of those LX570, if you think 100k is a lot of money try 130k here in DR. This is by far the most trusted SUV by politicians, military (Generals and up) among artists, and the few not so popular influencers. Overall I think Lexus doesn't need to do too much to sell LX570, they are bulletproof built and everyone here loves them.

Still the most honest and balanced reviews on RU-vid.

LOL, there are several of these in my neighborhood and yes, 100% of them are owned by physicians. 😂Almost every garage combo with them if not every garage combo, is the husband drives this and the wife drives a loaded Sienna minivan. Also every family that owns these are Middle Eastern, so there are some demographic statistics for you. The BMW X7 seems to be taking over though. On a side note my mother was bitching about some woman writing checks at the grocery store just yesterday and she's old herself. 😂 I figured out though why they buy these cars and it's not for the reasons people think, usually when they are studying and on into residency a lot of them have old Toyota Camrys, and they are reliable and get them through the lean times and most likely the dealers and salesmen treated them well so they move up when they start making more money and into the higher priced Toyota products. There are a ton of Saudi students here in my town and every single one of them drives an old Camry from the 90s to early 2000s and they are almost all gold.

Dinosaur is the right noun for this truck, both in terms of tech and size. Good review with fair pros and cons.

York beach is a Beautiful spot For a car review. As the owner of a 20-year-old Land Crusier with 200,000 Miles that’s needed very little repairs, i can understand why people buy them. This is a legitimate 300,000 mile car.

For the price, I wish they would do a tech update. The rest of the ageing design is forgiven, in my opinion, by the promise of reliability. The exterior design is one that has, and will continue to age very well. I hope to own one some day! Thanks for another great review Steve!

I bought a new one and it's a great vehicle, it doesn't have the gadgets and gizmos that some of the competition sells, but it does have the quality of construction, quality of engineering, and quality of materials this price range requires. I expect years of excellent service out of it.

You need more than reliability to justify paying 100k. I don't mind body on frame construction, but buyers expect much more when paying that price. The infotainment and technology is embarrassing compared to the competition. However, as a 2 year old buy, it becomes a more interesting option.

Top shelf review as always. 2 thoughts: If I had a surgeon I'd take comfort in knowing he drove a Holocene Epoch Lexusaurus. What net worth does one need to have to drive in the mogul setting and is it more compliant than the baller setting?

They offer the LX with a diesel here in Aus. In spite of that, there are a small number of LX (and LandCruiser) owners who have ditched Toyota for RAM... mostly the 1500 with a HEMI! When people ditch a factory made RHD Toyota, for a RAM with a local RHD conversion, it kinda speaks volumes. Mind you, I'm talking about the previous generation RAM, not the latest one! When an 'old' RAM has more tech, and can deal with towing better than a Toyota, it speaks volumes.

I still love it. And because I can’t wait a whole year for the new one I’m buying this version. The diesel one of corse coz I live in Africa 😂

i prefer the 90`s body style of the land cruiser and lx450 because they looked more like safari vehicles

"At and asking price of over $100,000 I can't even begin to explain this one!" If you buy a Lexus, it shows that you're well off. If you buy a Rangey or anything from Germany, it shows you've got money to burn! *To justify the $100,000+ price tag ... it's easy. You see, in the year of our Lord 2357,* LX570 will still work ... perfectly! All the knobs and switches, the engine, suspension will be mint. Unlike Range Rover (see Dougie for that one!) BMW (my sisters X3 my friend X5 less said the better) and any VW variant... won't be working right in a months time … as you'll be berated with a host of electrical faults, air suspension issues, gearbox problem. You buy a Lexus once, and you look after it. You'll buy a Rangy or German, and no matter how much money you throw at it in repairs, it'll still need a host of other things fixing!

These vehicles aim towards very specific buyers, those that want luxury but dependability. Maybe North America’s market is narrow but go to the United Arab Empire, anywhere in Africa, and the Caribbean, this is what you will find the upper middle class that can afford it and the wealthy engineers, doctors, politicians driving.

If I had a choice between this or an Escalade I would choose the Lexus all day long I love the LX luxurious but very off-road capable where as the Escalade is more luxurious and not so off road capable

Lexus should make a hybrid of LX, a bigger fuel tank, and a touch screen monitor.

So let me understand something: last refresh was 2008 and next big refresh is 2022? 14 years between refreshes. That’s at least 2-3 generations behind when compared to other SUVs. And Toyota doesn’t put technology in vehicles unless they’ve tested it for several years to get all bugs out. So the tech in this car is really from around 2005. I’ll stick to my 2020 Mercedes GLE 450. Great review again, Steve!

Expensive as it can be, but sells like hotcake in Indonesia. Even in a house there might be 2 LXs (cost around 300 grand including all taxes brand new), not just one. I prefer diesel Land Cruiser 200 which is torquier and easier to be tuned. Just go to the nearest tuner, and easily gets 800Nm on stage 1. Plus, I hate Lexus' mouse, Steve.

With this infotainment more than my husband school loan. 🙄 I will need a bigger car. I can't decide should I get LX used, new GX, or Jeep grand Cherokee L🤦‍♀️

Really? In 2020, a flagship car has no Apple Carplay and Android Auto? Did you see the 2021 Mercedes S class? I assume the 2021 GLS will have the same interior. Sorry, most people who can TRULY afford a $100+K car usually don't keep it for over 10 years, unless it's collectible. Most of them who can spend that much money on cars usually switch cars after every lease term. Reliability is usually their least priority.

$100k seems way overpriced for this suv for what you get. I'd say it should be a $75-80k suv at most. A used LX is a better deal.

Nothing wrong with proven technology. Sure the Range Rover has more bells and whistles but is plagued with all sorts of reliability problems. For me, a good car needs to get me to my destination safely. I would not buy a car because it has more speakers or some other features that are guaranteed to fail. Reliability is King.

Unusually cynical review for you, sir. You knew what it was, why it is & how long it's been doing it; if you can't get with it, say no thanks & hand them back the keys. An uninformative review with no recent changes or updates to report; save your effort & everyone's time and drive/report on something you like more that we haven't heard much about yet.

I own a GX and have always admired LX until 2016. You can’t even take that thing off road anymore with that grille. Not to mention it is so ugly and outdated.
