Been looking for a video with this info! Thank you so much. Difficult job? My techinical ability is above average id say.
@projectathos
@projectathos Год назад
I would say it's not a difficult job to do. Just follow my video instructions and make sure (Extremely Important) - you follow the preparation procedure for the electronic parking brake before you start the job as I have it in the video. Also make sure you buy High quality parts - preferably and highly recommended from me for the brakes only Mercedes Original parts! After you finish the brakes, make sure to finish the procedure on the dash for the parking brake and you will be ok! Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions... 😁

Great video, very helpful! Do you have to do the front and back at the same time?
@projectathos
@projectathos Год назад
No. This procedure is only for the Rear Brakes since the Electrical Parking brake is on the Rear wheels only " as on any other car actually 🤣"... This must be done because of the Electrical actuators. THANKS 👍

Question - After setting workshop brake pad replacement mode does the car ignition have to stay on while the rear pads are replaced?
@projectathos
@projectathos 25 дней назад
I have left it ON many times but the vehicle goes to sleep no matter what. No worries there as when you get back in the car, you would need to turn it On again and the car will remember that The Service Mode is On. I hope this answers your question. Just watch my videos while doing the complete Brake Service with this function on and you will understand it completely... Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

Great video! Any chance on finding those torque specs? Also, I didnt quite understand about the leak and brake fluid reservoir cap. Should we open the reservoir cap under the hood while we do the rear rotor/pad replacement?
@projectathos
@projectathos Год назад
Yes, you can open the reservoir cap because when you push the brake Pistons back to zero position you're pushing the brake fluid back into the system all the way to the reservoir and it's going to overflow. This will happen on the Front and Rear brakes. Be ready and get a piece of rag or a towel to catch the overflow fluid. Or you can just leave the cap in place since the fluid will overflow and leak through the cap anyway. You can still put a towel around it anyway or an oil pan under the vehicle because otherwise you will have a spot under the vehicle. Also make sure to clean thoroughly all the surfaces from this brake fluid because it is known to damage paint. Here are the torque specifications according to Mercedes - Bolt Brake Caliper to knuckle Stage1 - 60Nm, ( Not sure if I would complete this Second procedure because it may brake the bolt so you need to use your hands and brain to feel whether you can do it all the way or just a little bit) Stage 2 - 45 Degrees. Guide Pin to brake caliper support - 25Nm. Bolt brake caliper to Guide pin - 35Nm. Bolt Actuator for Parking brake to brake caliper - 12Nm. Bolt for brake pad sensor - 8Nm. Thanks and let me know if you need anything else... 😁

please do you replace the brake pad sensor anytime you change your brake pads ?
@projectathos
@projectathos 17 дней назад
Yes absolutely! You have no choice especially if the sensor touched the disc/rotors and activated the brake light. Thanks and Good Luck! 🤞💪👍

Thanks for the video. A quick question before I start😅 the piston push back tool no longer needed for this car correct? I used to change Japanese car brakes btw.
@projectathos
@projectathos Год назад
Watch the video before you start this repair! On some of these New Mercedes models you don't need the push tool because you can tell the car to retract the pistons from the dashboard but on this one you will need it. Again You do need a tool to push the pistons back but I do it just with a screwdriver. You must reset the parking brake actuators before you start though! Just watch this video completely to understand it before you start doing anything... Japanese cars have a little different technology comprared to Germans so don't assume anything! Educate yourself before ending up making a really bad mistake! Thanks...

@@projectathos Thanks for the heads up. I have viewed this video a few times already. There is a bit mis understanding as I thought the workshop mode - "fitting position" etc is performed instead of the pistion pushing back tool. Actually, now I understand it is for the parking brake. Thanks again, that really helps! By the way here in Australia I can only grab either textar or genuine pads - no other options available. I was suprised that the well known bendix even did not start making this specific pads.

I am watching this video because I started doing the brake job and didn’t take care of the handbrake. I kept the old connectors intact. And it pushed out the piston. After that I screwed it in back all the way to the zero position. And now I have one side all the way to the zero and the other one all the way out. I wish I watched it before. Thank you very much for posting it. It gives a great understanding in detail how it supposed to be done. Now I will reverse engineer it and will try to do it the proper way. Thank you.

how the heck do you psh. the piston back with just a screw driver? We released the parking break actuators and the piston will spin but it will not go back to zero @@projectathos

Do you have any website or any online store that I can buy OEM part for this project? Thanks alot
@projectathos

You can try FCPEuro as they have lots of good and Oem products. Your other choice would be your actual local Mercedes Dealership. I get my OEM parts from a local Dealer as we buy regularly as a business from them. Thanks very much! 👍

Front pads do you have to put in service mode as well?
@projectathos
@projectathos 11 месяцев назад
Nope. The Service Mode controls the Actuators for the Parking Brake in the Rear Brakes. So no need to do this for the Front Brakes... Thanks 👍
