A full size SUV is a good answer for a 'go anywhere, take everyone' family car and the 2020 Nissan Armada is can do just that. BUT, there's a few draw backs: poor fuel economy and a dated interior including the infotainment system. However, the Nissan Patrol has had a refresh in other markets, so perhaps the Armada is next.
Take a look at the good and the bad in this 2020 Nissan Armada Review!

I have a 2019 SL, and I love every aspect of it. Everyone knocks on the infotainment, which cracks me up. It works beautifully and the Bose sound system sounds really good. I don't need the 'infotainment' to look like a NASA computer, I just want it to function and this one does! The ride is fantastic, TONS of power, and a beautiful fit and finish in the interior.

Interesting review, I have a 2005 Armada and yes it is a dinosaur, but I raised my two sons in that car, the oldest is 20, the youngest is 15. We take it from Dallas to Houston to visit Grandma. We have driven to countless basketball tournaments and school events, even though it is old, the boys would rather ride in my Armada than my wife's Mercedes sedan. I worked for a guy that loves to buy the Yukon SUV, and he is on his 3rd one and has spent more in maintenance than I have even though my Armada has almost half million miles on it (actually almost 465,000), the ride is still smooth and the engine is still quiet. We even drive it to my father in lw's funeral in Kentucky with the whole family in it with over 300,000 miles on the vehicle. I wish you were in Texas to review my car for the EXTREMELY long range review LOL

For its age its surprisingly modern. Sure its lacking in the dash, but its otherwise extremely competitive. Combine that with the much lower price and you have an absolute gem

If they slapped the Armada badge on the refreshed Nissan patrol, it could have legs for a bit longer yet

People don’t give credit to the proper things anymore. I have a qx80 (Which the Armada basically is) the seats are super comfortable. The ride is great and the infotainment is “out dated” yet I dont have to fumble through a touch screen. There is a button for everything. Zero road noise and tows anything. This guy did compliment the ride in a positive way. Most people wille shame a good riding vehicle because it cant go around a race track. Not sure how he only got 15mpg though. I drive super aggressive and I still get 17 combined. On road trips I get 20+. He basically got what I get towing my atv.
@ihateyouall7026

@@clarda1 i wanted the qx80 but the price wasn’t worth it (especially with the interior design and the lack of technology in the dashboard) i saw that the armada was basically the same so i’m watching this. what made you want the qx80 instead?

@@ihateyouall7026 my qx80 is a 2014. The Armada in this iteration wasnt even available when I bought mine. I will likely be getting an Armada next since its 8k cheaper and the same thing.

I love the Armada, despite of it's out dated interior. It's a body on frame Beast with lots of power and ofcourse the sound of that V8 is a music to my ears.

@@Shane23Armada Well then you're not maintaining the vehicle. My 8 year old Benz gets the same fuel economy from new but I did do spark plugs, clean the MAF sensor, clean the TB, change air filters regularly and once the car got 100k on it I did the fuel filter. Those things along with changing the fluids on the driveline like axle fluid and transmission fluid will keep mechanical drag low and fuel economy up.

Seriously good choice in it's class. Yeah, they are behind in some of the tech areas but overall this vehicle, at around $20k less than most competitors is a great buy. We have the 2020 SL with the Premium package. A comparable Ford Expedition runs in the 70's in my area. Very comfortable and tons of room for 1st and 2nd row passengers. 3rd row, like most is not for adult sized people except for short rides. The power is amazing and for a 3 ton vehicle a 0-60 in 5.9 seconds is remarkable and much faster than the others in its class. Overall a great vehicle for the price if you want luxury without spending tons more money

To me the most important things in a car are those you are not likely to change (retrofit). Such as engine, transmission, brakes, suspension etc. The only thing that is outrageously bad in Armada is infotainment system and it can easily be exchanged to anything like a tesla screen or 12 inch android screen which saves the situation (look it up in aliexpress). But you get an awesome reliability out of the most important parts. Its up to you to decide, whether to pay for gas or repairs... I would choose gas.

Thank you for this review. We're looking at upgrading from an Acadia. We're a family of 5, so we need the 3rd row, but we also want to use it for towing our lightweight camper. The price point, towing capacity, and 3rd row is what makes this one appealing.

A good review, but this is a vehicle that is the opposite of what I look for in a vehicle. In fact I just sold off something similar and went back to a sedan, and I couldn't be happier. For those who need something along these lines, it looks like it would fit the bill nicely.

Have quite enjoyed driving sedans again lately actually. The Armada (and similar) are great if you have the space but in a busy city it was tougher.
@IKhanNot
@IKhanNot 4 года назад
I like these Armadas plus you can get them for a smoking deal as dealerships know they're not the newest kid on the block. Body on frame, power to all 4s, nice luxury ride quality and the powertrain is smooth and refined. From a service point of view this is the better buy because all known problems will have been documented and sorted plus parts are readily available should there be a problem. Try getting parts (if they fail even under warranty) for your 2021 newest car available. You won't.

A brand new, old fashioned vehicle! Fake wood on the dashboard, CD player, body on frame, naturally aspirated V8, rotten gas mileage and a proper 4X4 system! What's not to love here! lol :-)

The Armada is $7,000 cheaper than the Toyota and $15,000 cheaper than the other ones. I would take that money and buy gas cards at Husky and I bet you that after the first $5,000 in gas is spent your going to have a higher value SUV and still a reliable vehicle than a Ford or GM SUV. My neighbor has a Armada with 5 kids and they said he wouldn't trade it in for better looking new Tahoe because of the resale value after 5 years. Cheers from Campbell River.

The issue with the expedition is the engine, like literally every other ford engine, they are overtuned and overstressed. Combine that with proprietary parts and ford is always on the bottom of the list, no questions asked.

Not sure why the gas complaining we just got a 2020 with 60k miles, we are putting 40$ a week on gas on a 10 mile to work, I mean, it is expected on a v8, and not the best looking or fancy but good value for the money 👍 👍👍❤️

Not a complaint, just the facts about fuel consumption: 13 mpg city (EPA) is terrible and 18 hwy isn’t much better. But smart move by you to get one used at a depreciated price, and fortunately your commute is only 20 miles round trip. Thanks for watching.
