Hi Clint I’m an intermediate rider living in Vancouver Canada and I’m looking to upgrade to a nice bike. I’m looking at this one and comparing it to a pivot switchblade. The benefit that I can see of this one has over the pivot is the twin lockout system. I’ve not had the opportunity to ride a Scott before but I’ve ridden the Pivot quite a few times and loved it. Is there anything you suggest I consider as I compare these bikes? What matters to me a lot is the climb on technical terrain.
The fact that this bike is light, but also has the twinlock on the handlebars allows for on the fly adjustments. This thing climbs like a mountain goat with the right tires and descends amazing. You have great trails out where you live, I am highly jealous. I know Pivot makes good bikes as well, but I think you’ll love this bike if choose to go with this.
All my new parts just arrived, and I’ll be doing a review, weight savings etc. decided to opt for i9 hubs and wheels. As well as XX1 crank, xx1 cassette, oil slick chain and oval chain ring in the front.
you know. when I first told the bike shop I wanted a bike that could do it all. They told me it didn't exist and that I should get a hardtail.... BASTARDS! I could have been riding this all along!!!!
Spark is more of an XC bike with shorter travel front and rear. If you’re going to be doing more XC trails than that’s better choice. Genius is a trail bike which is majority of trail systems. It can easily be used as a XC bike as well with the twin lockout system.
