Take a poll on the most sought after game fish in the Florida Keys, and dolphin will surely top the list. In this action-packed and highly-educational episode, Poveromo teams up with Jake Roth, a top offshore captain at the Post Card Inn. Time frame is early August, a slow time for tourism in the Florida Keys, but a consistent period for dolphin - large ones, too. Basing out of the Post Card Inn and Marina, Poveromo and Roth set forth looking for the typical signs which can lead to dolphin. Working birds uncovered by the MARC VI's Simrad radar led to a weedline in 650 feet and a bunch of schoolies. A run to birds gathering farther offshore produced a mix of weeds and larger fish. A bit beyond that and the dolphin were even larger. The highlight of the day, was a huge Amazon log adrift in 1,500 feet, surrounded by large dolphin. It's here where Poveromo scores a 34 pound bull dolphin, the trophy of the trip!
