I'm a Dodge guy and I'm saveing up for a 1999 dodge 2500 but man subaru makes the best cars ever.

We just purchased our 2020 limited! I didn't want to stop driving it! We added some things so can't pick it up for another few days. I can't wait. Perfect for our family of 4.

I’m about to head to the dealership and pull the trigger on the new Ascent Touring. I did a ton of research and it checks all the boxes. This video helped a lot!

I purchased a new Outback in 2017. It had RAB and many other electrical problems from the start. I had it in the shop 10 times for repair. towed to the dealer no less than 4 times. Went a total of 42 days without my car. It was a Lemon. Even the district service manager told me to contact Subaru Customer service to get a full refund, as they could not figure out what is wrong with the car. After months of being given the run around, Subaru customer service did not refund my money as they should have. Major problem with the dealer, they do not give you any paperwork, to prove you were there in the first year, they delete the PC history, (destroy the evidence). I traded my car in, still under warranty, still not fixed. I lost over $14,000 because Subaru does not stand behind their cars. Toyota is looking better all the time.

I subscribed to Consumer Reports. The Ascent was granted the highest rankings possible when it first came out, beat out literally everyone. 97 road test score. Perfect predicted reliability. They rated the Subaru brand the very best in the industry with a collective score of 81. We actually considered buying one. Fast forward 1 year, they rated it poorly, citing extremely poor reliability, noisy engine, lack of power. Rated "Much lower than average" reliability. Huh? 2021 they jumped it up to 3/5 reliability. Now they're recommending it and liking it again. HUH??? It was enough to make me unsubscribe. They call it the best car ever, then next year say oops it's junk. And now it's sort-of good again. Uh, problem? The Ascent is virtually unchanged since its original release. Last year they added rear child alerts, this year LED swivel lights and automatic high beams. Are they just throwing darts at a board? How can you give the same vehicle three completely different ratings? I know it was a new model back in 2019, but when your rating is so heavily influenced by reliability, they're literally guessing going off other similar drivetrains etc. That's USELESS. But then to not only knock it down, but bring it back up again? Nothing has changed. I can understand it dropping down, but not going back up. That implies something was improved, it wasn't.

Amazing, But here in UAE (In general Gulf area) can't see many as Toyota. I think because of the dealer.

Best one I've seen is 2020 Legacy. Haven't seen it in person but at a glance it looks like a Volvo inside... Still a boring Subaru outside though . They say they're reluctant to change their styling because they don't want to affect sales. The new outback is the only Subaru I like..

Great review, other manufacturers should start putting rear ac in the ceiling. I never understood why behind the center console when it blows on your ankles not to mention, gets blocked if you have rear seats down for the dogs.

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Around here even a mild criticism of a Subaru can cost your friends, make your neighbors stop speaking to you, and eliminate invitations to Thanksgiving dinner with the extended family. So let me begin by saying that the initial reviews of the 2020 Outback suggest it's an impressive vehicle. The CVT it shares with the Ascent is relatively inoffensive (though the "simulated" gears and paddle shifters are rather silly, at best.) And the Outlook XT shares the same turbo 4 engine with the Ascent. In the Outback that engine performs impressively with a 0-60 time of about 6 seconds. It appears to be a worthy successor to the old six cylinder boxer engine in the Outback. Having said that, however, a top trim 2020 Outback XT has a curb weight a bit over 3900 lbs while the Ascent (top trim) weighs in at 4603 lbs. That's a difference approaching 700 lbs! Add fuel, passengers, and gear/luggage (and noting that the Outback is a five passenger vehicle) and the difference in weight is 900 lbs or more! That same turbo4 in the Ascent is being asked to move MUCH more weight, about the equivalent of 3 NFL lineman. There's a reason that almost every manufacturer other than Subaru and Mazda offer a standard or optional V6 in their 3 row midsize crossovers that weigh over two tons. No doubt the Ascent's initial acceleration is adequate (though hardly impressive) but physics is physics and a small displacement turbocharged four cylinder engine compared to a larger displacement V6, especially a naturally aspirated version, is far more stressed in a large, heavy vehicle even in normal operation. Simply put, long term durability has to be a question, especially for a newly designed engine without a track record. Add to that the fact that only the Subaru restricts a buyer's choice to a CVT among 3 row midsize crossovers and some skepticism about the Ascent is obviously warranted. Unless having the most cup holders in the category is a high priority I think there are better choices among the midsize 3 row SUV's than the Ascent. On the other hand, the new Outback deserves a serious look among the "tweener" size two row crossovers. Perhaps that comment will assure me an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner.

Highlander has no room to put anything behind it’s 3rd row, Subaru ftw, better shape from outside too, so it beats the pilot too.

Real nice looking car. How high does the driver sit? I love the RAV4 because one sits high enough to see beyond the steering wheel & dashboard. One views the full top of the hood & full exposure of the road one doesn't looking out through the steering wheel.

I have 3 big negatives: #1 CVT: CVT is fragile so other automakers put CVT only in low horsepower engines (under 150 horsepower). Wouldn't ascent's powerful 260 horsepower engine chew up its CVT transmission? #2: under powered engine (4 cylinder 260 horsepower). Other automakers provide v6 300+ horsepower engine. #3: head gasket problem of boxer engines. No other automakers use boxer engines and there is a very good reason for that.

Great and complete review guys, thank you. Just a few questions: - Does it support Sport and Intelligent mode? I didn't see it in the wheel but maybe the Touring version has got it. - Did you count the speakers? I noticed 2 tweeters in the 3rd row, so plus the Subwoofer that should be at the back side we've got 11 speakers. - X-Mode: just one mode? Forester dors have 2 modes for it (dirt and snow). Could we enjoy these in the Touring version? - Replacement tire: is it full size or temporary? Thanks for your help! Cheers

Every time I see a car I like. They have this annoying captains chair and the updated gear sticks. I just want a traditional layout with a good body style. It’s just to much to ask for now a days

Like literally this could replace all 3 row crossovers except maybe some luxury.. and I hate to say it but the Telluride and Palisade have better features. But overall if I could get any car it would be this one

This car would do so much better if it was at least 300hp. For a vehicle of this size I’d expect more HP and torque. A nice car still.
