best review hands down. been in the market for one for a few weeks, pulled the trigger last week and just received my 2020 Sport 2 days ago. in love, absolutely.
Thanks once again for the thorough review. 👍🏽 Overall, the Forester is a step above the run-of-the-mill in the same class. My biggest gripe, that glossy plastic where one will be touching constantly equals scratches & tons of finger prints, no matter how careful you try to be. Sigh, manufacturers need to drop the glossy ABS in high traffic areas (or altogether), a matte finish is much preferred, especially if you will be keeping the car for several years.
So I own the rare 2018 Forester Black Edition... which is similar to this Sport, just without all the Orange! One thing I wish they did on the sport, was to give it a TURBO again, like the XT had! Make it a driving enthusiast SUV! Over all, it’s a beautiful car... I’m not sold on the “crab claw” rear lights yet. But I understand the Forester needed it’s rear end spruced up. Great review guys... thanks again!
Ummmmmm...so the guitar solo during the intro had me wanting to move to Kentucky. The new Forester looks great overall, and I'm looking forward to the all new Legacy review on this channel and other vids that's coming. Subaru truly does the Forester right.
Howdy, great review as always! I love the Forester. My friend owned a 2015 one and like it. She has a Ford Escape now because they are company cars.😸😻😸
Lol @ those wanting a 19+ XT. You do realize there have been many cvt issues with the 14-18 FXTs. It's more a matter of when, not if. 250hp on that cvt is not reliable, long term. Not to mention XT sales only accounted for about 5%, which is the main reason XTs got axed. And good luck once you're past 100k mi. Oh, btw it's more cost effective for Subaru to replace that cvt vs rebuilding it. So keep a minimum of $5-7k aside in case. It's hit or miss. Do your research people. Look at all the 14-18 FXTs for sale. There's a reason why. It's too bad honestly. On the other hand, the 04/05 and especially the 06-08 MT FXTs are missed dearly.
The past is the Past. Now Subura's REGULAR gas turbo engine that gets 30 mpg in the new Outback XT which makes a great option for those of us that would enjoy better performance than the Forester's base-only engine affords. This new regular gas turbo must be a decent engine option since it is the only engine for the Ascent and is offered as an upgrade option on the new 2020 Legacys and Outbacks. I wouldn't mind only getting 30 mpg instead of the 33 mpg that the weaker base engine affords and for us, paying more to get performance equal to or greater than what we presently have would be worth the expenditure.
I just ordered the 2020 Sport model (lease) and taking delivery next week. The only thing I did not like during test drive is the Stop-Start feature. Confusing activity light, and annoying to have to press it every time I start car.
It seems like orange is the new "sportier" color for many brands as of late The RAV4 Adventure model uses it in the interior as well. The (exterior) orange trim on the Forester looks better with the darker colors IMO. I will take the orange along with the black trim in exchange for all the glossy fake chrome looking plastic on other trim levels. I prefer the black wheels as well.
One of my only gripes with the Subaru is I still cannot believe that they do not have remote start built into the single key fob like the Nissan and a lot of the other Japanese competitors already have in place. I cannot believe that I would need to use my cell phone or a second key fob to remote start my 2020 vehicle, seems absolutely ridiculous that they cannot implement one key fob to remotely start the vehicle
@@Hallowsaw there is not a shread of evidence exists that proove this myth. A car start is a car start. There is no difference how you start your car. With the key or remotely. And any vehicle needs to warm up when it cold.
Has Subaru fixed the issue with oil consumption on their vehicles? I love the vehicles but the lawsuit over that issue definitely makes me second guess buying one
The "sport" version with the 2.5L Boxer engine, with 182 hp/176 lb-ft, doing 0-60 in three days. Let's call it what it is: the Forester Teenager Edition. (As always, great review!)
D X I have a 20 year old Chevy Silverado and I just recently sold a Honda Accord I owned for 14 years. I’ve never had to replace a muffler. How often does that actually happen? And what the hell kind of cars are you driving?
@@chuffedkiwi Rav 4 has issues with engine cracks for most of their models. Subaru retains its resale value much better than most cars. Do some research and don't make dumb statements.
You really should mention that the Forester is on the top ten most expensive cars to maintain list as revealed by "Your Mechanic" and "Autoguide" . The numbers are explained by their presentations. This car has a CVT transmission. The CVT is unacceptable due to CVT cost of Faiiure. The lacking of any other type of Transmission offered make this vehicle unacceptable. God forbid , the Fiat 500 has a better overall maintainece cost. The 500 breaks down more but is way less to fix.
Yeah subaru know that most people are fooled by marketing and the technical problems with the CVT are not on peoples radar. Such a shame they went with CVT.
Can't wait for my windshield to Crack for no reason and cost over $600 From Subaru because it has to be "Special Glass" And then the $400+ Dollars for Subaru to Calibrate the sensor cameras that See through the glass ...... What a Raft of Shit ....!!!
What a dumb ass comment. How much research have you done on this? Get your windshield replaced at Speedy Auto Glass. They install the original Subaru windshield and include the Eye Sight calibration. They are trained to calibrate the system. Now go back to asking dumb questions, Mr. Raft of Shit. Moron.
@@dx3200 Eat It You Douche Canoe ...! If you're Eyesight System goes down after the glass repair NOT done by Subaru WITH Subaru Glass, it will void the warranty and you're on your own ... As long as people know that ..... You can go anywhere you want .... So settle the F*** Down !!!
