Just pure love. I mean - lots of people dream about exotic cars, muscle cars or japan godzillas, but me? Man, this is literally my DREAM CAR - someday... someday:D
I have a 2019 TRD Pro. Save yourself some money and get the TRD Off Road with the premium package. You get everything the Pro has except for the suspension. In hindsight, for me, upgrading the suspension on a Pro is costly and a waste of money. The Off Road is a more “workable” platform. The Pro is a novelty. Just my 2 cents. When I trade mine in in a couple years I’m getting the Off Road premium.
Agreed. Also who's going to sit in the parking lot, idling in reverse gear, waiting for the infotainment to load up the camera when the mirror's image is always on and ready?
Yep. I've had "blind spot monitoring" on every vehicle I've owned since the 80's. I just turn my head and look in the mirrors. It's easy and it never fails.
What is wrong with me? Voodoo blue, that is what is wrong with me... This rig is amazing! I picked up the 2019 and I am NOT disappointed. When I am heading to the Gulf of Mexico with the moonroof open, all four door windows and the rear glass down, the chill mode is amplified. It is glorious...
No better feeling than cruising in a 4runner bumping music with all 4 windows down along with the rear trunk window down. That air flow feels insanely good
Good review. It’s nice that they have at least done a little refresh on the 4Runners. My wife has a 2016 Limited and is going to get a 2020 TRD Pro for Christmas. 😃
I got a 2019 and in my opinion it's pretty outdated with the minor creature comforts. It's nice that they upgraded just a little bit. And your wife's a lucky woman.
Awesome review! Safety tech in cars is still in its early stages and although something is better than nothing, please concentrate on your driving as usual until the time when these "safety" features don't end up hitting children 89% of the time in some situations and 100% of the time in the dark. A deal breaker with the 2020 model is that I intended to install a C4 Lo Pro bumper on my truck. The mid-height bull bar would have blocked the front sensor anyway, so I got a new 2019 4R TRD Pro instead. My total cost was $50K out the door; tax, registration... the whole thing included. Thank you for the great review.
For the added cost of the TRD Pro package, they could have at least equipped it with a proper roof rack that supports an RTT. I still think it's more worthwhile to go with the TRD Off Road, and buy better suspension.
We just picked up my wife’s Army Green Pro a couple of weeks ago. It was disappointing that they didn’t include blind spot or parking assist. She gave up a few creature comforts from her limited, but over all, it rocks! Great review 👍
You young guys want everything done for you. Back in my day, we took pride in our ability to drive. We monitored our own blind spot. We didn’t need or want the vehicle telling us a damn thing. These new vehicles have way too much electrically controlled BS.
They justify the price by saying it includes the factory warranty but guarantee you if they prove you went off road on rocks they’ll void that warranty. Might as well use your own 10g and get something real nice like an Evo.
@@FrenchHawk878 ahh gotcha I'm only doing medium trails so the trail was perfect for me and I also am paying much less than average trails go for that's the main reason I didn't go for a 2019 TRD, 2020s are like a 500$ lease minimum with 5000$ down if you don't buy it's insanity (trd pro) I may sound stingy but i need the lil extra money to make the car my own (supercharger, halos, LEDs, wheels etc)
I have a 2015 black limited and absolutely love it! In 2016 I took my ‘09 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 in for a leaf spring recall/check and left with the 4RUNNER! 😉
Gary Singh couldn’t resist! Anyway, I needed something to haul the family and the third row works great for the grandkids. They got a nice surprise when I lowered the back window while driving around Chicago!😜😀
@@ShiftingLanes Mine is in the pure white color. I'm thinking about adding black overlays and adding black/red TRD wheels. I just don't know what it will look like with silver and black roof racks.
My 2012 Limited has 274000 on it - the alternator went at 247000 miles and put a new belt for the hell of it - that’s it for repairs - do my own oil- brakes and still get 19 miles per gal. Hi way - like the Pro but the Limited is still going strong
Blind spot monitoring on a 4 runner isn’t necessary. For the price, it should be there but it’s not a big deal if you don’t have it. People have gotten lazy, in my opinion, when they drive. With all of the available tech, blind spot, backup camera, sensor overload to me. Pay attention to your surroundings when you drive and you won’t need all the “driver assistance”. Again just my opinion. That being said, the 2020 is beast. I had an 04 sport. Loved it and regret trading it in with 79000 trouble free miles on it.
It’s a proven tried and true SUV. Frankly you don’t need blind spot monitoring it’s got a solid visibility. I would say shop around for the previous generation or even look at GX series as well.
Great review!! I decided to get 2019 TRD Offroad. They had a great deal on them and I even traded my 2018 Wrangler on it. Been happy so far, its only been on one off road trip so far but did great!!
I own a 2019 4runner , and lm glad it doesn't have all the electronic BS I love it ......i am not impressed also with the new ford bronco to many features
I’ve been dealing with several dealerships, They are discounting to get a sale-even on Army green, just be a little patient with money or good credit and they will discount at least $2,000
6:35 PSA: 4Runners hold their values really well and one would have to find a 2019 with very high miles to make it "worth" buying used (in most cases).
I've had 2 Toyotas that went over 200k miles. And I noticed a change and realized that my 4Runner had finally broken in. It's a hell of a discovery. My 4Runner got quieter and smoother with less vibration and I also picked up 1 mile per gallon . And I sold my T100 truck at 206,000 miles and when my buyer was test driving him we went down the road hit only 3 stop signs and he turned around and said that I really kept this truck in great condition. That's true to some extent but it was because the T100 was just crossing 200k and the engine on that T100 started really strong, ran so smooth and quiet that he didn't haggle my price at all. That and my T100 was also beautiful too.
Sometimes I think all the safety tech is creating Less skilled drivers. I understand the safety cross traffic and it’s not a bad thing but I’ve been driving over 30 years so it will always instinctual for me to turn around and look and use the technology secondary. The future generation of drivers a lot will have a hard time driving a car from the late 90s even early 2000’s
Nothing I have an sr5 modded and love it to death. It’s very capable but there’s no substitute for lockers and it’s not as capable as the trd pro. Mine does come with atrac with works amazing but having the lockers in certain spots or the crawl control all help and that’s the difference between getting stuck or not. But people underestimate the sr5, it can keep up and handle mostly anything. The capability of the sr5 is still far better than what people’s driving skills are and what the driver is capable of.
Cool video. I like the roads you chose to drive on. Loved the Army Green when it was first announced but now I think the novelty will wear off quickly. I'd go with the Magnetic Grey.
The reason that it doesn't have auto back stoping, blind spot monitors, is because those things when the body of the car is damaged as should be with a trd pro unless its a street princess will get dented and cost thousands to replace the monitors
'Old School' is correct. This 2020 is pretty close to the performance / features of my original owner 1994 Isuzu Trooper 3.2L DOHC which is still going strong! My fully loaded Trooper is like a combination of this and the Nightshade edition. Would I buy one of these. Yes. I may re-build mine or start anew with the TRD Pro.
With the 2020 TRD Off Road and Venture edition I can get the KDSS option. KDSS is not available with the TRD Pro. Which is better KDSS or TRD Pro suspension?
Major issues for me as for buying such a great vehicle are blind spot monitoring, parking space the vehicle uses, and most importantly, the miles per gallon. For me it depends what model of 4Runner I want to buy as well as it's abilities.Bad thing is that when you customize your vehicle, there are only two colors you can decide to choose. If there are blind spots, then why not add more cameras! Like seriously I mean it.
Good : remote start /Fox Shocks /safety tech , Bad : poor millage /no blind spot monitoring / not air dynamic too much wind noise / small front windshield / stupid driver side mirror / poor wide angel back up camera / no KDSS on Pro / does not come with Rock slider / and Toyota removed stand alone apps from Entune / no electric power steering .
@@marioacevedo9421 if they will change , the will change Lexus g460 first , Toyota have no plans to change 2021 models at all . possible 2022 and yes every year with same thing $2500 price increase .
So wanted one of these, but I just do not fit. No reviewer covers this, but the seat bottom is compact car size. Also, if you put the seat far enough down to avoid hitting your head, you are practically sitting on the floor (some reviewers do note that). I may look at a used Land Cruiser again. Best truck I ever owned. I’m disappointed that a I need an extra 30k just to get a Toyota that can keep up with a Jeep. Gladiator is so comfortable.
New infotainment screen, new color...the rest virtually unchanged since 2010....oh yea, projector headlights in 2014.....not griping, just stating facts. These trucks work, work, work and then some....no turbos, no CVT or 10 speed transmissions. Please Toyota don't burn the soul out of the next gen. 4Runner.
@@g.t.b.7779 only the price...$50.000 + 10% tax will set you up at $55.000. With $800 a month payment, it will take you 66 month to pay this thing off & thats no insurance included. Try to find a one bedroom apartment for under a $1000 these days. This car should cost no more then $30.000. You have to be a rich man to buy this or if you not, then plan to live in it...
This guy does this review like a child. Complains about the milage because it acts like a body on frame with 5,000 lbs. WTF? That is what it is. The milage is exactly what it is supposed to be with a reliable no frills engine. He is complaining that something that does not exist, does not exist in this truck either. This review is not all bad, but that point he was making is not logical, kind of like a child does. All trucks have trade offs, not wish lists to be filled out to your imagination.
Missing the little things ruins it for me. Almost the perfect survival truck and almost perfect to be my one and only vehicle. They need to increase the horse power and include the rest of the safety features
Almost a good review, but you obviously do not understand anything about MPG versus torque required for off-road gearing and towing basing on your comment on its miles per gallon.
If I am going to buy this vehicle i really would not care about gas mileage. I am buying Toyota Reliability and high resale value. No jeep comes close to this vehicle. Just compare the two. Need i say more??
I love the 4Runner (because I own one) and I badly want a Pro. But am I the only person on the planet that doesn't like the Army Green? I think its hideous. I'd rather have Gray, Black or White.
