This was great review. My dad is 68, retired and just ordered new 2022 Toyota CH-R Limited (Red). We are in Canada and here after all fees and taxes it worked out to $36,000 CDN. Dad's main point for this car was reliability, and he loves the funky design. Cheers!!!

I have the 2018 purchased one year ago. Complaints would be no automatic starter..rear blind spot as u mentioned.. and poor acceleration. Storage could also be better. Otherwise satisfied. Reliable and a good driver. Handles great.

I want this to be my first ever car! It’s great for single short person without children. I’m not interested in anything bigger. I’m wondering how much would it be for maintenance? Gas type? Blind spot? Updated features include in the car? Thank you for review. I enjoyed every bit of it.
@infinitequickscopes3706
@infinitequickscopes3706 2 года назад
I can answer some questions here: As far as maintenance goes, it being a Toyota, and with its reliability reputation, I would guess it really wouldn't need any maintenance down the line other than the basic oil changes and brake jobs (Although, all year models of the chr does have CVT transmissions and based on my research needs transmission fluid changes every 30,000 miles). As far as gas goes, it takes regular 87 octane gasoline. Blind Spot monitoring is only a safety feature that comes on limited trims of the chr. (I'm sure I heard somewhere that you can also get it on the XLE trims as well but I can't confirm) I'm not too sure what you exactly mean by updated features in the car but feel free to clarify and I'd be happy to answer any question you have.

For some reason I thought I already responded to this so my apologies! We got two years free maintenance included when we bought the car, so no expense out of pocket yet. Even past that point I don't expect it to need anything other than the usual fluids, brakes, tires, etc. As far as features, the Limited trim has all the standard safety tech (radar cruise, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, etc.), as well as other things like heated seats, Apple CarPlay, automatic high beams, and more. I have another video coming on this car soon which will include a more thorough walkaround of the car as well as an MPG test.
@alandavid7129
@alandavid7129 2 года назад
Maintenance is same as other cars, Gas type is just regular unleaded and you have to fill it up every now then, it has the smallest tank of all Toyota, No blind spot at all but, the good thing about it is easy to upgrade interior and exterior wise, I have a 2020 CHR LImited

just buying one now in Europe, but hybrid model, which seems it's not available in US because you have low fuel prices lol. But here, an e-CVT with 2.0 petrol engine + electric engine with 6.5L/100KM consumption (39mpg) it's basically a free car, because prices are now almost $2.5 per liter of petrol around EU. @@MrLa135 My wife just bought a 2020 CHR, non hybrid. Toyota have a good name for reliability. Maxda, Audi, BMW, Nissan, and many others don't. I have a Lexus RX450H which comes out of the Toyota factory. That has been extremely reliable. No issues whatso ever. The key to reliability for any car is regular maintenance. Follow the manufacturers maintenance schedule and you shouldn't have any problems. The fact is many people drive their vehicles without doing any maintenance on them or if they do it is less than the manufacturers recommendations. Another thing. Buy your own oils and have someone replace it for you. Many places just put cheap oil in the cars and that is where you can have problems.

Toyota has been using a CVTs in the Corolla since @ 2013 with very little issue it’s the number one selling vehicle in the world. I think initially they had a few issues but Toyota is very quick to redesign and correct design issues. CVTs get a bad rap because of the brands who do not manufacture their own engines and transmissions and and have wide spread failures like Nissan/Renault and KIA Hyundai. As long as you service your vehicle as recommended it should last as long as any other Toyota would.
@inctru
@inctru 2 года назад
@@revilsdr Not what I am hearing from Toyota mechanics who are having to replace the failed belt/chain CVT transmissions at a lot higher rate than the older geared transmissions. The eCVT design in hybrids/EV is the only reliable CVT out there.

Be advised the CHR's CVT transmissions are having major problems. My wife's 2018 CHR transmission had to be replaced at 76200 miles. This, I found to be a common problem with CHR's over several years 2018, 2019 and possibly 2020 and 2021. I suggest you do your research before buying this particular car.

You said you drove the Corolla what's your take on that and the CH-R? I know everyone will have a different outlook when it comes to test driving a car.

They're both great cars. Personally I prefer the Corolla, but they are very similar cars, mechanically, interior wise, etc. If you prefer sitting up higher and need more cargo space, go for the C-HR. If you want slightly better fuel economy and spend less at purchase, go for the Corolla.

I almost downsized to one of these from a 4Runner TRDORP. I was having issues with accepting the poor gas mileage and rising fuel cost. I ended up going with a Subaru since I just couldn't go from a 4Runner into one of these. I have heard that these little cars (built in Japan) have the reliability of a Land Cruiser which is why I was interested. So if you manage to get one of these used, it's gonna last a long long long time if you take care of it. Just like a 4Runner. Nice little car for the right person.

It’s full synthetic, plus the car doesn’t get driven hard at all. Also it had free maintenance for the first 2 years and the interval that Toyota would cover was 10,000. Now that we’re past that it will get slightly more frequent
@RexenPrime
@RexenPrime 8 месяцев назад
@@AlsoAndrew doesnt matter if its full synthetic, doesnt matter that its not driven hard. The only way anyone should do 10k mile oil changes is if theyre doing highway miles almost exclusively. When I bought my CHR new it also came with the Toyota maintenence plan. How that really works is its a package with a preset number of oil changes and tire rotations. The intervals are suggestions. I got my first free oil change at 7,500 miles, which is too long but I kept an eye on the oil color on the dipstick back then and went by that. The next free oil change I got was a 5k interval. I do all my oil changes at 3k miles now. High mileage oil changes in a Toyota will result in blocked oil control rings eventually and cause the cylinder walls to be scored and the engine to burn oil.

I am done with Toyota and am telling people Toyota has nose dived in quality and are not fixing warranty issues in an appropriate time frame. I will never buy Toyota.
