I’m glad to be able to comment, that was the best live golf match I’ve seen in years. Every phase of the game, astonishing given the stakes. I actually teared up after many shots because as life long hacker, I know how hard those shots were. The Gold Channel did very well, way better than ESPN. I wanted BOTH girls to win. A 3 peat vs a 17 yr old. Doesn’t get better than that. Tip of my cap to Ms. Zhang.

Match play is just so much less punishing for mistakes, I don't think it's a very good competitive format.

On the 18th green (36th hole) Ruffels left "To Win The Championship" approach putt 3 feet short. The announcer he said "that's not done yet is it? She said "I don't think so" ..."There's no way that would be conceded"...other announcer she said "No way"... Then suddenly "Oh it is she does give it to her"..."WOW! that was quite the sportsman move." He said "You wouldn't have given her that?" She said "I don't know I doubt it." On The next hole the 37th green Zhang's putt went by the hole by the same distance - about 3 feet and Ruffels remained silent and made Zhang putt it! So now we see what happens in match play - It always comes back to bite you... on the 38th hole now Ruffels has a 3 footer to extend the match and guess what ... Zhang remembering... I'm sure... that she had to putt that 3 footer on the previous hole ... REMAINED SILENT...you saw the video ...the rest is history ... Congratulation Rose Zhang... Now both their names appear on the USGA Woman's Amateur Trophy.

Rose such a grinder with absolute calm and sportsmanship. Hard work and time put in. When others took a little time out Rose just kept practicing and this is the result. Congrats Rose on the win you deserve.

I watched this match.....the announcers were all in for Ruffels and yet, THE BETTER PLAYER WON! Zhang gave Ruffels a sweet deal in regulations allowing her to pick up on a difficult 4' putt. So it went to sudden death, the best player won! and the announcers were clearly not happy!!!

Commentators not able to control their emotions should not be doing their jobs. Go seek other employment. Their job is to report facts, like it or not. To me, Ruffels is the better player all round but things didn't go her way, that's all. U win some, u lose some. Even great player like Lydia Ko has her bad days.

She's got a more shallow iron swing than most players, which might give her a larger window to make good contact. I might even try to swing a bit less steep after seeing that.

I have watched this match a few times. The only real problem here is the unfortunate, noticeable, biased commentary by the commentators, on behalf of Gabriela. At least the girls did not have to hear all of this during the match. Well done ladies! Congratulations Zhang!

The best comment. Both have great future ahead, Gabi will win soon while Zhang will win more frequently after her graduation & full-time on course. I don't blame Zhang for pursuing her academics as that's her dream of finishing with a degree. In fact, I salute her - knowledge over wealth.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the 4 ft concession by Zhang that kept the match tied, and 2 holes later Ruffels refused to concede an identical putt. Well karma happened on that last hole.

I don’t concede even a 2 footer if it’s a downhill putt. Conceding a 4 footer is a mistake and talking about karma about not conceding a putt in such a competitive match is just plain absurd.

She has a very good swing, repeatable. I wonder though that she drops her posture in the backswing and then slightly stands up in downswing. Well it works for sure!

@@peterhammer6915 Why is it better? I'm just saying that many good players do one or the other. Some keep a straight back - they keep the head at the same height. Some flex their spine on the back swing - they go down and slightly forward with their heads. I prefer the latter as it is more dynamic and creates more speed. But both ways can produce excellent golf.

@@3rdgroove you can definitely create more speed when using the ground properly. I always like to watch Rory swing. He keeps his spine tilt in the backswing and goes really down in the downswing to create more pressure. All long hitting and top men have one thing in common. They all create more tilt in the first part of the downswing, their heads drop significantly in lower. But I really like the swing of Ruffels, it looks to be working well and it looks very repeatable. Was just wondering why she drops down so much and starts the downswing by "standing up" slightly.

LPGA has been non-existent for the last 3-4 years. I can't remember the last major shown on TV. I was at the US Open 2016 in Sahalee, but LPGA seems to has faded from any TV coverage! WTF?

I certainly buy into the value of being able to hit my clubs a reasonable distance. fortunately after playing this game at a reasonable level for 35 years, I have managed to retain decent speed and length throughout my bag. However, the last few videos I have seen from you are completely fixated on the fact that Savannah can hit a 7 iron 180 yards. There is NO value whatsoever in being able to hit a 7 iron 180 yards with jacked lofts and a spin rate that is too low to get control. As soon as I see anyone testing a 7 iron with less than around 5500 - 6000RPM spin, I question the relevance of being able to hit a 7 iron that far. I noticed your spin on the 180y 7i was just over 5000RPM. Personally I like to see my 7 iron spin closer to 6500RPM and even 7000 and my distance in and around 170 yards at 90 - 93mph clubhead speed. Fixation on being able to hit it that long without showing ALL the relevant data is worthless especially when the rest of the information you give about the swing and your approach is so very very good.

Mightve gotten that putt conceded but after that unsportsmanlike 37th hole Rose was like putt it u Aussie b...I'll tell ya where this comes from...in amateur golf u simply dont want to win a great match bc ur opponent lips out a short putt hence y Rose gave her that missable high pressure short putt on the 36th showing true class only to get slapped in the face on the 37th...now in the pros where its a pure money game f it they dont concede shit unless its ryder or presidents where theres no money involved
