not every tryout is like this. all of my tryouts look nothing like this. we split off in groups. you could expect this but sometimes it won’t happen. depend on the school or club
omg the girl in the black that was the middle at around 20 minutes was pissing me off. she wouldn't let the setter get the ball and as a setter myself, i would have shoved her out of the way. she needs to know!
right? im a middle and im just cringing because not getting out of your setters way is like the number 1 thing you can do as a middle to cause chaos and confusion on your side of the court.
@@JILLTHEHILLL yessssss a middle is key when blocking and she was just standing there! i always set my middles whether is 1s, 3s, or slides. middle are a huge part offensively!!
haha you can see how annoyed the setter looked at 20:27 when she walks away, she has good control of her emotions though I would tell my middle but maybe she doesn’t know the middle that well as its tryouts??
okay literally like. this whole video was making me mad because like it wasn’t how i play and i play at a higher skill level. but the girl in the middle would not move. she kept getting the ball when the setter gets the 2nd ball! like omg
EXACTLYY as a middle as well lmaoo I was so mad at her she was kind of just standing there as well and she kept on getting in the setters way like that's not your job lol
#2, the girl with the black shirt with long sleeves is such a nice player to see! Her block around 22 minutes was good and after they were leaving the court for the other to play she gave everyone high fives ^w^
@@levistears5445 everyone in the comments is dunking on a teenagers for not knowing how to play a sport😭 please good comments are alright y’all don’t have to be so hateful all the time
@@bulliam Yeah everyone's saying she has an attitude but she just looks genuinely confused. Nobody in her team, nor the setter who is right next to her, told her that she can move. Communication is what they need here.
sometimes it just happens, as a middle my setter does ask me to take the ball at the right times to set her up, they love hitting just as much as setting.
Sometimes the pass goes to the middle and they don’t know if the setter is going to get it or not, so they just go for it. It’s not an excuse but that’s normally why
i watch ppl older than me so i can be as good as them if not better cus i want to be good but its the fact that my team doesnt know how to be a team and i dont know to soooo
honestly it depends on what type of team you are on/ trying out for. this looks like club (but im probably wrong) . ive played for ymca and the people on the team were usually less serious and skilled (compared to most club players) , no offense to my former teammates. but club and school can have people that have a lot of skill and experience, or not it just depends on the school/sportsplex and their reputation.
For those who are nervous for their tryouts… For one, Goodluck! Your amazing the way you are, all you need is some nice passing and you should pass! Remember, if you can’t pass/bump/receive then you get no play time which I’m sorry to spit out qwq but anyways, I’m really jealous of you and those who can tryout! Because as a 10 year old I love playing match’s but I’m kinda isolated so 🤪 second, don’t worry about being everything in the match! Do your best, and remember, there are others on the court and besides you that can cover for you, so don’t worry if the spike/serve is too hard to receive 🦋 Goodluck again 🥰
Dude as an under 16 middle myself man it frustrates me how none of these middles neither get ready for their run-up to hit NOR do they move out of the setters way. The setters should definitely push these incompetent middles out of their way when they need to set
@@galaxyvolleyball5627 the carpet burn, I’ve practiced on sport carpet thinking it was soft so I didn’t use kneepads, got MAJOR carpet burn. Lesson learned
The frustration that I'm feeling through the screen, middles in the setters way, no communication, and excessive free-balls. I get they are kids but I am too I'm 13 and my team is technically 14u but we play in a 17-18 league. I hope these girls get some good coaching because they have potential.
@@cyanlongvb they could’ve been lacking the opportunity to learn the basic, high schools have coaches that have never touched a volleyball before teaching :/
Relax. Be confident. Most important - be a good teammate. I cannot stress how important being a good teammate is in volleyball. It's the purest form of teamwork there is in a sport, especially indoor 6v6 since you cannot stop the ball and 3 players have to make contact.
i get what ur saying but this is tryouts so none of these girls have set positions on this team or have worked with each other, made plays, and the girls not cut out for this team aren’t gone yet
Missed volleyball entirely for my high school 😢 when I realize how wonderful it is, im going to college and rly worry that a beginner is rly difficult to pass the tryout
can someone please help me with the volleyball positions??? i am kind of new to volleyball but VERY interested, yet THE POSITIONS ARE CONFUSING where exactly are the opposites, outside hitters, setter, middle, libero?? are there more than one for some?
don't focus on that. I am going to give you some solid advice - focus on being a "volleyball player". which means you can play any position on the court. focus on pass/set/hit. every touch you get on a ball, work hard on it, make it count. "pass set hit". just focus on that :D as you play more and develop you can start deciding where you want to play, maybe you're good at passing. maybe setting. maybe hitting. but until you can do all 3, how will you know?
@@galaxyvolleyball5627 thank you so much!! i am very eager to do well in this sport (it is discouraging because i am a freshman in highschool and i don’t have access to a gym :( is there any at home drills i can do to perfect these skills?? do i have a chance??
If your short you might be a bit better at libero ,I’m like 4”11 and at my old tryouts no one could rlly get the dive quick enough so they were stuck with me 😅
I’m just bing watching these because my tryouts are in August and I’m scared because there only letting like 20 people on the team and there was like 50 girls trying out for volleyball.😬
Hey do you guys have any tips on setter tryouts? Like what do you care the most about them- their speed, setting accuracy, receiving, etc. I’m going to try out for the next season and it’s my first time so I’m kinda nervous
Kayla Weiss hey I’m a libero but I grew up in a setter family, being a setter you have to lead the game so make sure you have good communication with your team and make sure to practice all your skills such as serving, blocking and dumping and things not just setting. Tryouts are super fun so no need to be nervous I have my tryout in 11 days so I’m really excited. Make sure you always encourage your teammates and do your best :)
@@user-ts5tp1ce3o ok thanks so much:) do you know your setter's height for the vertical jump? sorry if I'm asking too much, I'm just really nervous lol. Also good luck with your tryout!!
@@kaylaweiss7034 hey! i would definitely say that setting accuracy and setting it high to the rightside and outside is def looked for at tryouts. Also getting to the ball early and squaring up to the net is important to tell if the setter has experience. Receiving isn't such a big thing they look at at my club, but definitely being able to block and hit is important. Make sure when you are at tryouts to try to use your hands as much as possible and be really quick to the ball and always be one step ahead of the game. Hope this helped :).
me personally, I like FAST agile setters. we like to run 5-1s. so the setter does not come off the floor. its more consistent also for the team (hitters) if the same setter is delivering the ball. versus the 6-2 which one setter could be good? the other setter bad? far as accuracy focus on setting the ball in the same "area" or "zone". never focus on the "perfect set". 4s, 2s, 9s, etc just try to set them all in the same general area consistently. a good hitter can perform very well under that scenario. :D notice I used the word "consistently" a lot :D
Another good point for a setter : try to predict the ball falling position( no matter the ball is calling from mates or the other teams) and move to that falling point position earlier. It is helpful that you will have more response time to deal with the ball and calling to right sweet point to your hitters.
What... at my tryouts we first had to run until we dropped dead and afterwards we had to do all sorts of tiring exercises. My stamina could be better, but I could barely focus properly on the volleyball itself anymore
Idk if anyone noticed but the girl in the lavender shirt with the first set of girls, playing 5 and is opposite to where the camera is, had some really clean passes. I hope she made the team :).
My position is middle but I will never get second ball. I will only get it if they called help. As a middle I always need to get out of the way for the setter.
I have tryouts soon and I’ve never played game wise before I’ve practiced and everything but for tryouts will that say anything if you have no knee pads
Okay okay, I know the girl in black was frustrating for the setter BUT she is a good player. You can tell by when she does get the ball. This is a tryout and tryouts have no appointed setter. As well as the setter could have asked her to not make a move on the second ball. I’m just saying more could’ve been done (coming from a former setter, now libero)
i am curious about the smaller one with blue t-thirt who back to us ...why she always go to take the second ball even she is not in that position... while her mates are confused why she came here...19:47 so many rounds when she is on
shes clearly stepping it up for the teammates she has. right after the link you see she gives one to her teammate finally and she completely fails the set.. thats the last chance you get in a tryout no babying
I know she is a setter , but it seems that they dont have communication/good teamwork ex. 31:20 31:36 31:55 43:50 46:15. I think that she set back to the right side hitter very well
i think their coach didnt teach them about a principle: if with single setter, the middle should make space/position to the setter, not standing too close to the setter... Thats why it looks so dissonat...
YALL IM CRINGING SO BAD!!! I JUST REALIZED THAT I PRACTICALLY DID THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE MIDDLE IN THE BLACK SHIRT AT MY FRESHMAN TRYOUTS A FEW MONTHS AGO, I LITERALLY WOULD NEVER TRANSITION OFF THE NET 😫I SWEAR I AM SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT I FOUND AN AMAZING CLUB TEAM BUT I TOTALLY BOTCHED MY TRYOUTS FOR FRESHMAN YEAR 😭
The most noticeable thing at a new tryout, camp, clinic on a volleyball court (both indoor 6x6 and beach 2v2) is your ability to be an amazing teammate. Love, forgive, encourage- and at the same time compete like a lion. Coaches will be drawn to you almost immediately- regardless of skill.
wanted to check lvl of ppl my age that actually train volleybal and can say am getting up there I started 1st september cus hs and couldnt perform serves 1/2 of the time now am able to perform a jump serve and have good game sense
I’m not 100% on this but I’m pretty sure the categories are made for each age so you would be U14 since your turning fourteen and these tryouts are for 15 and sixteen year olds tho like I said this isn’t a solid fact just what I’m guessing based on what I’ve seen
as a middle the girl in the black angered me sm. LIKE MOVE TO WHERE THE BALL IS GOING DONT JUST STAND THERE AND LOOK CONFUSED?? setter gets second ball and thats it
At like 20 mins the girl on the other side in black shirt, if she was my setter no one would be receiving any ball she is really good at setting and it makes me mad bc no one wants to hit her perfect sets
i literally cannot stand that middle. ik i’m supposed to be nice but i knew this before i even made it on my first team: SETTER IS ALWAYS SECOND TOUCH. she did not seem to get that at all, and the way she looked at the setter whenever she got the ball instead.. 19:49 and 21:50 like girl back up to the line to hit, don’t just stand there
well yea ofc like 3 times a week for abt 3 or 4 hours a club is not only to play a game every two weeks if u dont practice they're gonna make smashed potatoes outta u
