I've been looking at both the shearwater and an old town, this has me sold on the shearwater. Everything I'd ever want in a kayak, plus some things I hadn't even though of. Nice vid and great job on the yak!

I have a Native Titan 12 and I got to say for the price point, you almost cannot beat this kayak for what it offers. That red is looking dope too!

Nice rig. I have an old Jackson Cuda I'm thinking of selling and buying a Vibe Shearwater 125. One of the reasons I like it besides being laid out so well is that there is an access hatch in the rear for installing items on the hull with nuts and bolts. How do you like this kayak?

I have your exact model and color. I'm about to mount my fish finder and bought the wire glands. Did you run your transducer cable through the "dry box" from the bottom? Of course I need to run the graph unit through the top, but didn't want to open anything else. My battery and wiring will fit in there like you have it, just wondering what you did with the extra transducer cable. Thanks for everything!
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
I cut the tiniest notch at the lip of the lid. just enough so it doesnt pinch the cable when closed. ALL cables are in the pod.. ill have to make a video going into more detail.

How heavy is this thing after all mods? Does it still get up and go? I typically run my old Mirage Outback loaded minimally because its soo heavy to begin with. Looking for an upgrade potentially since my 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro was a lemon...
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
I mean. well over 100 pounds loaded with all the gear. but it moves smooth through the water with the hobie 180 drive.

@@KayakKingdom awesome, ty. I am about 225lb right now - gonna try to drop a few, but really looking at grabbing one of these as opposed to the hobie. I have an old Mirage OB, and its just too clunky and slow.

Couple questions for ya, what deck padding did you buy? You just cut it yourself? Where’d you find the drawer organizers? And last, what are those bungees you have holding your seat down? Looks way more secure than the little seat clips. Would like to do some of your mods to my shearwater

How do you like your fish finder? Do you have a video on how you did the set up to the box? Also would you do the striker plus 4cv or the vivid plus 4 cv?
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
the vivid came out in oct 2020 I think. and it wasn't available when I purchased mine. I would imagine its better, and the same price as the Clear view. I'll have to make a specific video on the box itself.

Hey, two questions... 1) do you know if the native watercraft sidekick wheels will work with this kayak? 2) how do you store your kayak? Thanks!
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
making a cradle with wheels for it now for storage. and yes. people have installed the landing gear, most install it thru the hull, not track mounted
@dannypino3130
@dannypino3130 3 года назад
Do you need a kit do put the hobie drive in it.
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
no. (well kind of). the kayak comes with a flat deck pod. you'd have to buy the x-pod and steering handle. or you can go aftermarket and get the yakgadget drive pod, which is the one I have
@dannypino3130
@dannypino3130 3 года назад
@@KayakKingdom Yeah I know about the x pod I just didn’t know if it was compatible with the hobie drive. I thought the x pod was just compatible with the x drive kit. So the hobie would fit? Also how much do you think a good price would be for a hobie drive. Some guy is selling one for 400
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
@@dannypino3130 all the xdrive is, is a carbon copy of the v2 hobie drive. so they are pretty much one in the same. hobie being better quality. $400 is "decent" for a non-180 (with reverse) hobie drive

How does it paddle?
@KayakKingdom
@KayakKingdom 3 года назад
not bad actually. for as wide as it is and stable as it is. it does well. and tracks well, and you can use the foot steering to work the rudder while paddling, which helps alot. I'd recommend eventually going pedal drive tho. it's a game changer for fishing.
