Hello Chris, I have watched this three times now. It is very helpful. I get my 2021 Tour DCT on Monday Oct 18th. I watched it to revise how to get moving and you made it look simple. I loved the way you explain the controls then demo them, it helps. I am sure over the coming weeks I will read the manual and come back to watch this again. Thank you.
Good video FYI when you turn the fob off if you have the trunk or saddle bags open and accidentally place the fob in either it will automatically open. But whatever you do do not leave the fob in the side pocket where the gas button is located. If the fob is turned off and placed in that pocket you can't get in without breaking the door unless you have another fob or the extra key to go thru the emergency start procedure. So whatever you do, do not place the fob in that pocket. The trunk and saddle bags will pop open but not that pocket. Good review for a new rider, ride with pride and have a blessed day.
Hi Chris, This is one clear cut information's for the basic control buttons for Goldwing. People say that this motorcycle is a car without a roof & air conditioner & 2 extra wheels. This makes me to push my dream even harder. As i am from India, young chaps here are big suckers for fully faired bikes. Even i was also the same type before when i saw this in flesh of 2020 model. I had switched my dream from super sport/middle weight category to sports tourer. You even push me to my dream even further. Thanks a lot brother. With lots of love from Chennai,India.
Very good overview of the functionality of the GW. Upon first glance it all seems overwhelming but your demonstration cleared it up nicely. Thank you sir!
Great job on the video! I always turn my key fob off when I leave the bike as well. You press and hold the button on it and you will see a small LED light blink once. That indicates it is off and even if you are on the bike nothing will work. It saves the battery inside the fob and is a bit more secure when you are close but out of sight of the bike. To turn it back on do the same thing till you see 3 blinks of the LED. It's been awesome discovering all the high tech features this bike has. It is a truly amazing machine that you will really love,
Your love for the sport of riding Chris shows up in all sorts of ways. Very helpful for the guy who owns one (dealerships don't seem to do this), and a great video for me...who is considering this purchase...now I am sold more than ever. Thank you for the time and energy involved.
Hey Chris, I enjoy your videos. Nice job on this one. You mentioned the center console buttons do not function while you're moving. I just bought a 2023 all blacked out Goldwing DCT touring model, and the heated handgrips and the heated seats buttons work while moving. At least on mine they do. Also, in a future video, mention the front USB connection is also for updating the navigation maps software. I just updated mine, and it took about an hour. The file was about 8.1 gigabytes. I love my Goldwing. it was worth the 3 1/2 month wait.
Excellent overview of the basics Chris. You got that down brother. 100% wise decision on selecting the Gen 6 Gold Wing. She’s gorgeous. An absolute beauty. Your eye for stylizing will also bring out her beauty even more. As you know at night the backlit handlebar switches in light blue look real nice too. As well the all important Gold Wing Horn is legendary. Great job! Peace.
Great job Chris. Had a GW many years ago and just bought the 2023 DCT and while waiting to pick up found your video. Very helpful and you do a great job.
Updated Technology is constantly moving so we either move forward with it or get forcefully left behind and become outdated, therefore I support the Honda brand.
@@chriscaliente5033 I hear yah man... I the 2018 when it first came out and I admit after watching your videos on it I was worried. However I since then feel like I made the right choice for me. However I admiit my older version had a different feel. I haven't concluded it was more comfortable but there are things I miss. However my 2018 if the best bike I've ever ridden
Man what a great video!! Ive watched many of your videos and always wondered if u would upgrade to a newer Goldwing and particularly the DCT model. I love that you did!! This is my dream bike. I know you have to be loving it.
Good stuff ! My 2021 GW Tour DCT is 2 weeks old now. Absolutely love this bike. I just had Traxxion Dynamics at the Heli Bar risers and it made the bike riding position much more comfortable.
@@chriscaliente5033 *Heli Bar Risers -$130.00 Labor to install - $125.00. Not too complicated as I know a lot of guys do their own installs. I run my own business and barely have time to ride so it was worth it for me to let Traxxion do the install.
Hey Chris nice video. Try closing the trunk by lightly pressing the bottom near the Honda emblem. This engages smoother and doesn’t show finger prints👍🏾 when closing by pressing the top of the trunk.
Great overview of the controls on the new Goldwings. This will be helpful when my new 22 Tour finally gets to my garage. Thank you and much appreciated. Larry
Thx Chris for the info on the new 2021 Goldwing. Im thinking of selling my 2016 GoldWing F6B now & get the new faster, slimed & trimmed version GoldWing. Reason, I was on the freeway out here in Oceanside California & this guy was on 2021 splitting lanes between cars at high speeds & my F6B is to big to be splitting lanes So now seeing how fast the new wings are, Ima get one of them Bad Boys🤙🏍🏍
What impresses me is how much the new GoldWings are The same as older models. I own a gen 2 GoldWing. A 1100 Aspencade. Motor skill memory on foot controls is the same. I had no problem finding brake, shifter on manual, and side stand. My feet went right to them. Hand controls are a different story. lol. I found that the cockpit is vastly smaller compared compared to my classic wing. Seeing more of the ground around the bike, and head buffering is greatly reduced. One thing I'd really like to see on the newer wings is a digital speed gauge along with the analog style gauge. I found it difficult to read. Maybe as a option screen on the infotainment. I recently did a demo of manual and DTC. Found I really like the DTC. I will say that the Goldwing is a crotch rocket with bags! during my demo I tried sport mode. I was on a 3 lane highway. Middle lane had a semi and car. Right lane two cars. Left lane wide open. now I was in the middle lane. I thought what the hell? Lets see what this machine will do. Popped it in sport, and nailed it! Full twist! I expected the bike to pick up fast. What I didn't expect was it dropping 3 gears while doing it. started the pick up at 60 mph. I took 3 seconds to pass the semi and car. Dipped back in the middle lane. slowing down looked at my speed and it said 110 mph!!!!!!! It felt like 80mph on my wing! I got off the highway. Pulled in a parking lot where I could beat the cone out of the seat my ass sucked up. It literally picked the front tire O.F.F. the ground! I did not purchase that day. reason? seat height is 29". My inseam 27". Hard to use all the features, like reverse. One foot stops where another. I've decided I will get a new Wing in trike form. Wife has knee problems and we are both getting up in age, and this will be the last bike I buy. This will solve a multitude of issues. More storage, no feet on pavement, and lastly stable for wife to climb onto.
Thanks for the video. I have several Harley Davidson. I have always been a Harley kinda guy. But I am going to keep my Harley Davidsons. But I am buying me a Gold wing for me and my wife. I'm catching hell about it. But I just think they have built a more impressive motorcycle and they are just a good bit ahead of Harley. Plus they are faster and more tork. Thanks again for the video. I am looking forward to my goldwing
Great video Chris! The button above the fog lights will allow you to toggle audio between your helmet and bike speakers. And to change modes while riding, you must close the throttle in order for the new mode to engage. All in all great instructional and informative video. Keep up the great work and hope to see you soon! 2WINGS
My video is just gives basic 101 information for Newbies to identify some of the buttons without going deep off into advance functions. There is much more within the bike settings and operational functions than I can cover in one video.
@@chriscaliente5033 Hi Chris. The comment was an important one as your explanation was incorrect. Modes can be pre-selected while the throttle is open then engaged by closing the throttle. The flashing mode simply indicates that the mode shown has not been engaged. This is also a safety feature because selecting Sport mode accidentally with the throttle closed then opening the throttle expecting tour mode etc will result in an unexpected violent acceleration with consequent loss of control. This has frightened the life out of rookie wingers! You're right. You can't squeeze it all into one video. You did a great job in this one. As an aside, with the dct model you can fold in the left mirror if necessary while riding. NEVER fold in the right mirror. Turning left the brake lever can contact the mirror. The brake will activate and a fall is unavoidable. To park with both mirrors folded, put the steering in full lock to the Right then lock it. Loads of tips on line as you know already. Many are excellent. Enjoy the bike. It's fabulous!
Chris, nice job. I have a 2023 Charcoal Gray on order but it won't be in until March of 2023. (As of today, Nov. 4th, 2022) I can't wait. I'm not getting the rear armchair seat. Base price is $29,000
I'm thinking about buying a dct goldwing trike but need to know how to shift gears on it. Looks easy just push d paddle shifter how many times? It doesn't automatically shift? Then does it automatically downshift? Great video by the way
What a Great and informative Video! Thank you for posting this. I ordered one that's due in June and have never ridden a new one much less know the features on it. (I Currently have a 2013 F6B Deluxe) Honda owes you a big thanks $$
No longer on the fence, I was debating the Wing or a BMW K 16, It is evident that the Wing is a more logical choice, in practicality and of course financially related to the service scheduling and reliability. Great instruction. I subbed. Possibly Oct '21, better deal in winter?
Great video, lots of good information. Thanks for posting this! EDIT: I just bought a 2019 DCT today, so I'm definitely using this video. Thanks again!
By far, the best machine I have ever owned. Yes, not perfect, but which bike is? Any freaking chance I have, I am on her. I have owned them all in 30 years riding, even the K1600. This is truly a 2 wheeler that feels like 4. I can't wait in 2 years or less to see all the new safety options Honda will add to it. I will be ready. I just don't see myself riding anything else out there.
@@j.t.5826 Hold till 24, if you can. Honda is adding some cool safety options. You will not be disappointed with this incredible machine. I have 15k, so far. Never saw the dealer even once. Zero problems. Every ride is a charm, in my book. Worth every penny. The older wings do feel a bit heavier then the 6th generation. After owning this one, I don't know what else I would ride. Maybe the new Indian Challenger? Options on the Indians are very expensive.
Please also tell your viewers that these huge motorcycles are even expensive in countries where they are manufactured. So basically you are paying for an extreme quality for long time and luxurious Ride for lifetime
I’m in the market for a 2023 goldwing. I like the bagger look… not a fan of the touring with the trunk. The other bike I’m considering is the K1600 with a trunk. You can remove/reinstall the trunk on the BMW in 2 mins. One plug and you twist a handle inside the trunk and it’s gone. I’m trying to find videos of someone talking about removing the trunk on the goldwing, but it’s either older models or someone saying it’s a 7 hour job to install. Do you know if it’s removable? Ideally I’d like to get the trunk because you get several other features as standard, but I’ll only need the trunk a few times per year on trips, so the versatility of the BMW is way more appealing.
HellowChris !I have watced this video and it was a very clear demostration ! Thank you ! I would like to ask you somεthing about an extra equipment use ! Do you think that is possible το adjust the Land Gear equipment in this brand New model of Honda Gorwind ?? Thank you again !
I have no issues so far. Simply to say, you need to connect and learn how the DCT brain thinks. The DCT has a very smart computer. It is very different from a clutch's behavior. This is my first DCT ever and I would not switch, unless Honda gives the Shift Assist option on the manual model. I enjoy the rides now 10 times over.
Your camera mount and camera can you tell me brand and where I can get that please, also I'm looking to get a coffee cup holder for it any recommendations. I'm planning on getting the new Gold Wing this week your video is very helpful
I notice that you have placed two large convex mirrors on the standard mirrors. Why so large? How are you able to see objects in the distance behind with so much space taken up with the large mirrors? II realize the added mirrors are great for "blind spot" coverage.
When looking out of the side mirrors, the side view is difficult because of Honda bad mirror design so I added big blind spot mirrors to focus on my immediate blind spots area, no need for me to look in the mirrors squinting to see 100 yard back.
@@chriscaliente5033 understand. I'll re-evaluate my riding style to see if that suits me. Honestly I have never had a better set of mirrors on any of my bikes as the ones on the 2019 DCT Tour. I've thought about adding smaller ones, but you have given me food for thought in regard to the large ones. Thanks
