2021 Honda NC750X Test Ride on the Race Track - How is it?
One day on the race track at MotorPark Romania, the day when I have tested for the first time the new 2021 Honda NC750X. This video shows only the first impression, the first feedback just after riding the bike; soon I will make a full and much more comprehensive review of the bike, also with all the answers to your questions regarding the new 2021 Honda NC750X !

Model Overview
2,8kW more peak power(arround 58 HP) for the NC750X’s EURO5-spec engine, plus an extra 500rpm to the redline are the headline changes, thanks to work on valve timing and intake/exhaust efficiency. Shorter ratios for first, second and third gears smarten response while a slipper clutch reduces lever load and keeps the ride smooth on rapid downshifts.
Throttle By Wire (TBW) brings with it adjustable engine character through 3 default rider modes - RAIN, STANDARD and SPORT plus a customisable USER mode. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) now has a finer level of input over 3 levels, while the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) option features Automatic shifting schedules that integrate with the riding modes, as well as USER control.
The other attention-grabber is the 6kg weight loss, thanks to a new frame and detail improvements around the engine and bodywork.
The 2021 NC750X will be available in the following colour options:
Grand Prix Red NEW
Mat Ballistic Black Metallic
Pearl Glare White
Glint Wave Blue Metallic
3.1 Engine
Throttle By Wire and an extra 3kW peak power: 43.1kW with 69Nm torque

EURO5 compliant, with 28.3km/l possible (WMTC mode)
35kW A2 licence version available
Peak power is raised 3kW to 43.1kW @ 6,750rpm, with maximum torque of 69Nm @ 4,750rpm.
The addition of a slipper clutch for 2021 reduces lever load by 20% and manages rear-wheel lock up under fast down changes of the manual 6-speed gearbox while decelerating.
3.2 Engine Electronics
Throttle By Wire delivers 3 default riding modes, plus USER customisation
Honda Selectable Torque Control features much finer control, and 3 levels of intervention

It’s a beautiful bike.. hope you enjoyed the ride.. There’s lot of debate on whether it’s an adventure, tourer or commuter.. Looks like it’s jack of all, and could be a very practical motorcycle especially with DCT and frunk.. thoughts?

This bike can be all, like I said in my 35,000 video review, it's depending a lot on your perception towards the adventure meaning. Certainly it's a good computer and tourer, you can pass some light off-road with good tyres. This bike it's created to make you wanna ride and enjoy the landscape with no worries.

@IdealBike
@IdealBike 3 года назад
At highway speeds, on the track with not so much wind, there was a smooth ride, not much buffeting. The bike was very stable and I've had a lot of countrol over the bike due to it's lower seat and riding position. On the long line before finish I could accelerate until around 130, but a had to stop quite quickly before the turn. This bike give you no surprises, it's just perfect for beginners, people who just wanna ride and commute with no "racing" expectations.

From your experience as a NC750 owner and as an expert review do you think chain wear and maintenance requirements will be any less on the 2021 NC750X in comparison with comparable bikes? Ultimately, one would prefer a shaft drive but cost, weight and ease of maintenance lead to chains.
@IdealBike
@IdealBike 3 года назад
The simple the drive chain, the better. I cannot say there will be less maintenance requirements, depending on your care and riding style. Maintaining the bike will be the same as previous model or other bikes, now the bike has more electronic systems, so better care washing it with the pressure hose 😁

It’s hard to tell if you really liked the bike, you said the throttle was nice, but what about the power and acceleration, the handling, and the suspension? I know you said you would do a more in-depth review later, but I’m about to buy one of these and would love to know how the power and acceleration are, and the handling (cornering)... Thanks 🙏
@IdealBike
@IdealBike 3 года назад
Ok, let me tell you that the handling and cornering it's amazing, no surprises here it was the same for the previous model, but now you have more throttle control with throttle by wire and you can progressively accelerate and get our easily throughout the corners. Acceleration it's now more refined, more smooth, it has enough power, at least from few laps which I've made.

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback, I’ve watched several of your videos and I love them. My only concern has been if the NC has enough power, I ride a ninja 🥷 400 right now and it has enough power for me, I’m 5’ 7” and weigh about 150 lbs with gear on...

@@kevinturner6888 I recently bought a 21' NC750 and have owned two previous ones to this one. Prior to that have had a variety of twins, 4 cyls etc. A lot will depend on your riding style. Your Kwaki makes between 45-49hp at 9,900rpm where the NC makes it's 59 at 6k - and has vastly more torque. The NC is strong, rather than powerful. You get almost all the tractable power from 2000rpm all the way to the redline kinda like driving a diesel car. It means IMO it's fantastic for real world use in cities, with traffic and whatnot as it's got that instant pull in any gear. In the right hands and properly kitted I imagine your Ninja is probably faster on a track - but for the mere mortals like me the usable power, practicality etc win out. The new one is sharper and falls into corners more readily than the older ones IMO but they're all good if the riding style suits you.

The only way to know if this bike is right for you is to test ride it. You might get nothing but fantastic reviews only to discover it’s uncomfortable for you. Alternatively you might get critical reviews only to discover in reality it’s the perfect bike for you.

I gather it's a little wet and you are probably under orders not to go hard at it, but you are barely getting to 60mph on the straights and going round big long sweepers at 25mph? I don't see the point of it being on a track. I know on track there is less grip than you expect, but 25? Really? I have more fun on roundabouts in 30mph zones.

I guess they are catering to their main market: Europe, where streets are (mostly) in good shape. For me in Costa Rica, the previous model makes more sense: Our paved streets have potholes and there are speedbumps everywhere. Actually I just bought the last 2020 model at the local agency. Still, wish I could have that awesome ride-by-wire.
@IdealBike
@IdealBike 3 года назад
You made an interesting point with the streets in Europe, but we've expected a much more off-road orientated motorcycle, now we have a lowered ground clearance and shorter suspension travel...

Salutare.
@IdealBike
@IdealBike 3 года назад
Salut!

If you're a kid and rate everything on acceleration and peaky horsepower you're right. The bike isn't fast compared to many sport bikes. On the other hand, it's not really slow and it does everything else very well, has exceptional fuel efficiency, an awesome storage compartment, great as a commuter, good on trails and mild off road, great reliability and an very reasonable sales price.
@stevebolton8471
@stevebolton8471 3 года назад
@@timjohnson1199 Exactly, anyone can make a sports bike go fast because they are overpowered. It takes a bit of skill to ride the NC750X because you have to know how to use it. I quite like engine braking but after all it is just braking with the rear wheel, so if there isn’t enough engine braking just use the rear brake pedal! Interesting that @Zxer46 North Rider has made several videos on the NC750X, not an English speaker, so perhaps he doesn’t rate the 21 model?
