Mr. Waheed has become my favorite moto-journalist. He seems to be one of the few who is willing to give an honest opinion of a bike, and detail where it comes up short. He also gives detailed explanations as to why he likes or dislikes something that gives context that we can relate to.
I agree. He's one of the most knowledgeable reviewers who always adds interesting historic tidbits to illuminate where a bike comes from and where it's placed compared to other models.
I'm not going to be able to sleep well after watching this! Why did they come up with such an awesome design 😅 Man ... It's masculine with soft healthy muscle and ready to pump out power. Charisma and gentle are all she need.
This is what the middleweight segment needed. The liter bikes sell because of the electronics package. It’s like manufacturers can’t figure out why the 600 sport bike class is dying. I want the nice screen, the quick shifter, abs and traction/wheelie control. If the gsxr750 came with good electronics, I would have bought one smh
I wish they offered a better version with better and actually fully adjustable suspension. You can buy Triumph Street Triple RS or KTM 890 Duke R cheaper than this Aprilia. Also Ducati Supersport S is coming next year.
I really wish these didn't get delayed, I ended up with a 2020 Ducati Supersport S but this was the bike I wanted. Nothing wrong with the SSS but I think the RS660 comes with a few more features I would have liked.
I liked this video, but i don't understand what options do I have if you say that the bike is too expensive... Could you give me an example? With semi handle bar, of course, like that aprilia (I have an MT07 if it helps)
What kind of upgrade would going from a Ninja 400 to this Aprilia RS660 be? Love that hair, sort of like Ezekiel Elliott from the Dallas Cowboys but you wear it better.
Agreed way too much tech for 80 hp. And it is overpriced. Also, the placement of exhaust...it's at same plane as your rt ear? I had to sell my Yamaha fz6r because of this. Getting a loud buzz in ear after riding which led to headaches. The exhaust needs to be behind NOT at our ears.
I'd go with the kawi over this. 4 cylinders vs 2, more torque more hp and just as nimble? I doubt this thing is faster on a straight, roll race or on track.
@@jponz85 I'm in the same mind frame myself about it where I live it will be mostly free way for me so i was leaning to the 636 and enjoy it full open if i was in a more bigger city the 660 all day
99hp out of a 660cc parallel twin with a bore/stroke ratio of 0.79.. but a compression ratio of 13.5:1 helps.. That is impressive. The coming yamaha R7 has a slightly longer stroke and lower compression ratio.. With a compression ratio that high on the aprilia I guess you better feed it with high octane gasoline.
I've been riding fur years without a license... U don't need one. I just dip it they try to pull me over, but over it you stored, it's a fix-it ticket... Just buy one
Beautiful bike. Unexpectedly, I love the purple version. The price, though, is impossible to swallow for me. You don’t need all of those electronics on a low power motorcycle. Get rid of the electronics and reduce the price by $1,000. Even then, it’s expensive for what is essentially a beginner’s sport bike. Rectangular TFT dashes, like square wrist watches (Hello Apple), look terrible. Make gauges round again.
It's timed at 270* firing interval. Most of the vibration you feel will be through the foot pegs, not so much the handlebars. The swingarm pivoting directly to the engine cases will give more sensation to this, much like the KTM Duke, Honda Superhawk and other bikes set up this way.
@@Icutmetal duhh.... You can time a twin a multitude of ways depending on power characteristics and traits desired ... It dosent care how it's cylinders are configured flat opposed, tandem, 45,60*,58*,or l/90😛
@@rzu7120 If that's your complaint about that bike, then it's a success lol. You know that a wheel can be painted ? Or you can choose the yellow RS 660 which doesn't have mismatched wheels ;)
@@22Epic That really is my only criticism. The mismatched wheels gives me the impression that a red wheel got damaged, and they didn't have another one, so they just threw on a black one. Other than that, I like the bike.
Not if you change your riding style. I went from a gsxr 1K as my main street bike to a Wr250x and had more fun on the WR. I just rode it in smaller spaces.
@@f270 true, but that's a big change. Actually this past Saturday, a customer walked into my shop in the market for a new Aprilia and he asked what I though about an RSV4 1100 Factory vs the RS 660. Since he was used to riding an RSV4 RF at the track, I told him that if he values the big bike power, he'll feel that missing from the smaller bike, obviously. But I did say that if it would satisfy him to get more out of a motorcycle (and maybe unlearn some bad riding habits) then to go for the RS 660. He ended up choosing the RSV4 because of his experience with that lineup. Smiles Per Hour is different for everyone. I personally can't wait for my RS 660 even though I have many track miles on the big bikes.
@@Victor_Moto I agree. I think mastering a small bike can be more fun than riding a big one. I'm considering an RS660. There is a small race track near my house that would be perfect for it.
Finally got it! Coming from dirt bikes and supermotos, I was very nervous… but man, what a sweet ride. Gentle, but you can grow on it (electronics and adjustable programs). I will pick only on the shakiness of the side mirrors… pretty terrible.❤️🇮🇹
sorry which japanese manufacturer? Yamaha R6 cost 14000 euros and it will be no longer produced, Kawasaki ninja 650 looks horrible (to me) and the new honda 600rr will cost 13000 euros. Aprilia has made the ideal motorbike for 600cc.
I know power isn't everything.... but there are so many bikes with more power and decent (or at least cheaply fixable) suspension for less $$$. MT-09, Street Triple S, Z900, GSX-S1000!!! This is a very hard sell IMO.
Niche manufacturer for niche buyers. It's not priced to be competitive. You buy it cause you want it. Not because you cross-shopped to save a buck. There's plenty of affordable bikes in this category, new or used.
@@chorseundgrd This is not a Norton or MV Agusta... it's a good bike but def doesn't have the sex appeal or exclusivity to warrant its uncompetitive pricing.
@@future62 It's an entry-level Aprilia to bring younger people to the brand. Same what Triumph has done with the Trident. And what Ducati did with the Monster decades ago...
It isn't a direct substitute for the YZF R6 or the ZX6R as those are strictly high rev powerband engines. I guess this engine has a much broader powerband making it quicker in the canyons than an R6 (depending also on the rider skill). Also it's much lighter than the competition.
@@jorgecosta95 this is likely a Euro 5 sportbike the R6 117 from the crank 105ish from the wheel so there more powerful but the R6 is no more because its not Euro 5 but i am only assuming this bike is euro 5 and so lowering the HP
To me, the interesting aspects of this bike are ergonomics and weight, and how the halved engine plays a role. Unfortunately no discussion by reviewers. As just another sport bike, not much to see here.
@@happyontheroad yeah sure. I was just pointing at Adams comment that the bike does not have compression adjustment at forks, which seemed like an odd thing to say.
Was so looking forward to this bike coming out but the reviews I have seen leave me cold. Fewer electronics with more spent on brakes & suspension would surely have made more sense on a low power & weight machine. I was hoping for something more raw. Hopefully, a factory version will address this.
From the Romans the word implies those subject to common law, via Christianity the word makes its way from ha goyem through Greek and then Vulgate to fucking "gentiles," we are informed. In the US the Shaker and Mormon use the word to mean non-.
@@61percentodicarica It does exist. It's the resistance to movement that doens't come from the hidraulic system of the suspension, IE, metal on metal friction, etc.
Owning a 40'000 hard ridden km Aprilia Tuono 1100 with absolutely 0 issues, I'd say newer Aprilias (2015+) are very reliable. I wouldn't touch a KTM with a stick.
When I first heard about the RS 660 I was so stoked! I expected something like a small V4 rival to the R6, Ninja 600, etc. with appropriate power, not yet another parallel twin slouching around in the 650 class :/
However, given the fact that it's called RS 660, and not RSV4 660 or so I should've known better. I can absolutely see that My excitement just got the better of me, lol
@@relate97 The fastest bike of the 70's was the Honda CBX/CBX1000 '78 which was not only much heavier and slower than this RS 660, but it would literally have no chance when it comes to turning. I don't get your point. 100 horse power, 67nm and 150mph is not slow at all. Doesn't make any sense to say you can be that fast since the 70s since that's literally irrelevant to the point whether if it's fast or not. Plus I've ridden plenty of inlines that felt cheaper than this twin, the one on the CB650R and the CBR650R for example.
Yo man did I miss the 21 kaw zx10r test...did they invite y’all to Spain or Italy for bike press launch n ride??tell Kawasaki pull out their wallets drop some dime and fly my boy Adam out for ride and review ...ASAP 💪
Well I’d lay out the cake on a 2023 Diavel without blinking if I had it I never equate price with want I’m betting it’s worth the cost of admission to me anyway
@@patrickkneitz6523 looks like you found a nice bike to live with... Ride safe! I'm also looking for a second bike.. Still searching for that one bike that has the speed and can go fast in twisties.. Still searching though
@@lazzalazzalazza Love the looks of the RS660 and i am sure it will be a huge success for Aprilia, but i don´t think that it can achieve 600cc lap times on track. But let´s wait for the Trofeo version, if i have the chance i will test ride it for sure.
@@darthvisor9289 Maybe I'm wrong to tell that it outclasses it, but the first mistake is to compare them on the track. This bike was created for the street. However, I still believe that on small tracks or mountain passes it is much more effective than a 600 ss from 20 years ago. In addition, the twin-cylinder engine has a lot more torque at the bottom, get out of slow corners with a lot more responsiveness. They are still 20 years of evolution, if you take stock and compare them (not only on the straight) Aprilia has many points of advantage. Just think of all the electronics that can help you and its much more advanced chassis..add mind-blowing handling compared to an SS..
a 650 makes like 68bhp at the crank. This one does 100 at the crank and around 87 to the backwheel according to the dynos I've seen. Plus the suspension, chassis, brakes are much better. And the 650 doesn't even have any electronics other than ABS, which is also kind of bad and you can't set it.
@@mrbookends this 660 has more torque than any supersport. Maybe it does help, especially considering in the European market it's available for A2 license which you can get no prior experience. And I'd argue this is a bonus point in the USA market too, unexperienced riders can profit from them a lot.
