Best review of this bike I’ve seen so far. You understand it’s faults and virtues, and you know both the mechanics and bikes specific information to address the good and the bad. Well done!

It’s a 125 for a reason it’s a cruiser bike it wasn’t meant to be a sports bike why people keep saying get a 190cc you do that you might as well just get a sports bike and call it wonderful
@howardkey6152
@howardkey6152 4 месяца назад
I will say. If you manage to blow up the 125 being neglectful. The 140cc engine can be had for $200 and gives it a bit extra. But with 17t front 33t rear and carb upgrade you can hit 70mph on the stock 125cc
@BichaelStevens
@BichaelStevens 3 месяца назад
@@howardkey6152the reason I'm considering this one IS because of the 125cc engine. It's the legal limit of a B category license in Europe and I can't afford a car.

I've got one. Gearing is super short, but I like it. Ordered a 17t sprocket, it's gonna be my Class M exam bike soon just like you said you used yours for. Awesome first bike, though I suspect it's gonna take advantage of my mix of automotive and bicycle mechanic knowledge down the line; I've been hearing the carbs are iffy, the oil it comes with isn't great, and that general wear issues like to crop up on bikes like these. I didn't immediately change out the oil it came with, I'm gonna run it for about a hundred mile break-in, dunno if I'll regret it or anything. Carb seems to be doing fine so far as well, despite the community saying they're known to have problems I've never had issues, so far haven't even had to choke it, choking it actually just kills it, even cold, not sure what's up with that since it doesn't act like it's running rich. I want to solve all the common issues it and its brethren have, and turn it into a daily driver for a mix of work and liesure trips. One thing about the gearing, is that as I've been using it I'm finding I'm switching back to second gear at stops, then straight to fourth because first is insanely short, and the gap between second and third is minimal enough that I'm almost topping third as soon as I shift. Second is a tiny bit too long for a comfortable takeoff, but the fact that it's as close as it is to being a good takeoff gear, enough that I prefer just using second and fourth skipping first and third, speaks to just how short the gearing really is out of the box, and I can't wait for the 17t to come in and hopefully make things more sane once I install it. I guess it's good for me having been a new rider, being so short means I had a lot of torque to keep the engine from dying out in the early stages of learning the clutch, but now that I've got the clutch under wraps I prefer the longer gearing over the torquey launches. As of writing, I still haven't put a full 25mi on it, I'm still a very new rider, the brakes probably aren't even properly bedded yet. I'm very excited to see where this bike can take me, both out on the roads, and with my mechanicking abilities down the line as I both service and mod it.

The forks probably have a very light oil in them. You can put in a good quality fork oil that is a bit thicker for better damping and less dive. Also I'm sure you could find a cheap way to preload the fork springs. PVC pipe for example

Enjoyed all your videos on the bike. As for the front forks, maybe you could try an higher weight fork oil. Hey, it's Spring riding weather! Well, maybe not for a couple of more months in North Dakota... ;-) I think if I lived in your location, I'd have a BMW GS or the new Honda Transalp. Even with the short riding season, you are close to so many great riding locations. Houston sucks. But it would be fun to work on that little Chinese bike. Again, thanks. Be safe.

Well here in the Philippines Honda's successor model, the XRM125 is 74,000 php, a bit less than $1500 USD. Front and back disc brakes and 4 speed with auto clutch. All with Honda build quality. Over-priced compared to the competition but still very popular. Much of the worlds transportation is still on smaller motorcycles.

Yo! do you still have the bike? most reviews i’ve seen of it are from years ago, so I’m wondering if you had trouble setting it up when you got it since your vid is more recent? This bike is exactly what i’m looking for but i’m not great with mechanics and this would be my first motorcycle, so I worry that I wouldn’t be able to deal with any technical/mechanical issues that might arise when first using it :(

I actually sold the bike and got a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja a couple of months ago. As for the BOOM, it came mostly assembled. I spent an afternoon mounting up the front wheel and the handlebars. I would say that if you have any experience turning wrenches, you'd be able to figure it out on your own with some patience.

This bike may be new but it's a rehash of old 1960's Honda technology. Anything you need to learn can be learned in short order from a RU-vid video. It's a fantastic world of easy 5 min information and people are still worried about not having the knowledge. To have the knowledge we have freely at our fingertips would take many library trips, book buying and/or actual experience in the pre-internet era. Just take the plunge and learn-as-you-ride.

Do you still have your Xpro 125cc cafe cruiser? If so, how many miles do you have on it now? Any problems with it sofar? What is the GPS top speed on it? What are your likes and dislikes about it? @@josephsaucedo8691 I just got this bike specifically to put the ZS190 engine in it. I need the 125 for my CT-70 clone that has a shift pattern I can't stand (4 down) The CT-70 clone has an automatic clutch too. I can't stand that either. lol Anyway, I have the ZS190 sitting in my basement and the bike in the garage. If you don't mind sharing any installation tips you have with me, I'd sure appreciate it. I read elsewhere that the ZS190 won't fit because it hits the tire. I was thinking maybe longer forks? I don't want to go with a smaller wheel.
@josephsaucedo8691
@josephsaucedo8691 Год назад
@@davecummings3335 it shouldn't hit the tire it's not much bigger than the 125cc engine that in it it's wider and there quite a bit of space from the engine to the front tire. For the install it's perty much a swap out some parts my need to be trimmed or cut to fit depending on what bike your putting it in I would get grade 8 bolts to mount the engine and if you want the gear indicated light you have to use the nutrial indicateter from the 125 it won't show 5 gear but it will show the rest. I welded washer on the engine mount holes to reinforce my mounts the wiring is just color matching depending on the wire connecter you can depin it or cut it off and butt splice the wire together I recommend getting a brand name carburetor and you my need a longer clutch cable if your 190cc engine can with the cdi and rectifyer use it the 125cc a little weak and make sure you have the right tooth sprockets I would change the oil before you ride it the oil that's in it is crap. Use a floor jack to hold the engine up that all I can think of off the top of my head the only other thing you might want to do is on the starter side of the 190cc if you take the cover off there is a small gap kind by the sprocket were water can get in the engine you my want to fill up the pocket with silicone and put the cover back on that way if you go through a puddle the charging system doesn't get wet. Hope that helps 😉👍👌✌️🏍️🛠️

@nicholem1450
@nicholem1450 Год назад
It uses the same engine as the grom clone(Boom Vader) by the same manufacturer(Baodiao), look into a ZS190 or ZS212 engine and skip the boring process, it's a direct bolt-on and 5spd. Also adding a 17t front sprocket(less than ten dollars) will significantly increase topend for getting up to highway speeds.

Does it have a toolkit with it?? Traditionally, the 1960's to 1990's motorcycles came with a basic maintaaainance toolkit. If the motorcycle was made by BMW, Jawa or CZ, the toolkit would be of high quality steel with box spanners, tyre levers, etc. However, if it was Japanese, it would be cheap diecast pliers & spanners, which were completely useless and would buckle or break when used. a friend bought a brand new Suzuki FR80, back in the 1980's. He managed to bend the handles of the pliers attempting to crack a hazelnut. He gave the toolkit to his 3 year old son as a play toy, because that was all it was good for.

A lot of people get enduro vibes from this bike. Unfortunately, that is from looks alone. I have taken this bike on some gravel roads and easy difficulty trails and can report it is absolutely terrible to ride on an uneven surface. The front suspension is soft and the rear suspension is very hard to the point of almost being rigid which makes for a near endo-over-the-handlebars situation with every significant bump you hit. Also, the overall suspension travel is extremely limited. The handle bars are mounted into an aluminum clamp with M6 bolts which can only be described as delicate at best. I definitely wouldn't suggest using this bike off the street if you value it or your safety.

I assume you're looking for some more noise. I have since sold the bike, but if I remember correctly, there was a screw on the side of the tailpipe at the end which allowed you to slide out a silencer pipe. A lot of old Hondas are the same way. Otherwise, you can put a long drill bit in the end of the tailpipe to drill out some of the baffles or just cut the muffler off and weld a pipe in it's place for maximum volume. As for the pitter-patter, that's just part of the single cylinder life.
