Great review! I take issue with your appraisal of the engine, though- I received my new Sandero just over two weeks ago, vanilla model, not Stepway. Due to a family tragedy, I had to drive from Luxembourg to the south of France last week. Just my wife and I and a light suitcase. Frankly, and though my and her mind were on other things, we both agreed that the whole package is leaps ahead of previous Sanderos we have owned, as well as my Duster, which this replaces. Whilst aware of the comparatively low power output (although I have the bi-fuel version), 900-plus kilometres of motorway driving were handled with no problem, either in keeping up with traffic or overtaking. On the way back the car was fully laden, boot and back seats and foot wells, and while acelleration was affected to a degree, the drive back was equally enjoyable and stress-free. OK, this is not a car for regular long trips, and it will not usually be doing many, but even my 23 y/o son who drove back with me in place of my wife found it hard to criticise, and, as a young man, he's a bit of a petrol-head!
Thanks for sharing! The situation here might be a little different, due to mainly 2-lane motorways which are packed with tourists. You really need power to keep up, lest you get stuck behind large trucks all the time.
This is the third review I’ve seen saying the lack of power is the only issue with it , cannot understand why they didn’t put the 1.3 Tce engine in it instead of a puny 900 cc , have been thinking of changing my duster for one but this guy has made me decide to stick to the duster .
The car is great, got mine 3 months ago, stepway version just like here, allmost full on options. The engine feels very punchy, it dosen’t feel underpowered at all. The best consumpion I could get is 4.6l/100km, with AC on auto and eco mode on country roads with 4 adults. On highway it feels also good, no problme overpassing other cars, even fancier ones. Got about 7l/100km going at speeds between 130-150km/hour. In the city trafic i get like 7-7,5l. Idk, in your case, there must be something wrong about your way of driving. I love the car. Recommend!👍
Team Pit-Stop this is definitly the best review on the Sandero on the Tube. Givin the price this is a great car. Poorly savety features which is a shame.
Fuel consumption seems very high. I´ve driven my Toyota Aygo 720km two days ago and got 3.8-4-6L on the Autobahn (100km/h most of the time. 5.4L at 130km/h). How is the sound isolation in the car? I want to get the LPG Sandero next year, mainly for long distance. Is it loud at normal speeds up to 110-120km/h?
Sound is very subjective. I would say at around 110 it's not too bad. Even at 130, it's fine. But make sure you test drive it first to see for yourself. The fuel consumption goes fairly high on the motorways unless you're not trying to keep up with traffic.
Probably more to do with the lack of electric gizmos like no lane departure bleeper which is a bloody pain in the but , I had a C 3 aircross and it was an annoying bloody thing , ok you could switch it off , but you had to do it every time you drove it , but Dacia are well built cars .
It would be a 4 star vehicle on the previous EuroNCAP testing regime; huge emphasis on self drive functions now, legislation trying to take the driver out of the car.
