Very well done video, and it was great to meet you! Glad you enjoyed Edaan’s and my Thunderbolt. If you noticed, Edaan’s Thunderbolt is dual tone, and mine is single tone which gives you an idea of what the 2 different Thunderbolts sound like. Mine of course has a leaf blower to feed air to it and not the original roots blower like on Edaan’s, and the roots blower for Edaan’s was actually the one that came with my Thunderbolt originally when I got mine, but I didn’t have enough room for it, so I gave the blower from mine to Edaan to use on his, so his obviously is louder then mine since his has the original blower powering it and mine only having a leaf blower, atleast at the moment. Eventually I will rig up a more powerful blower to mine, that is basically just as powerful as the original roots blower, but half the size as weight. Typically single tone 1000s, are louder then dual tone 1000Ts due to the way their choppers are, single tone having one row of larger ports on the rotor, and dual tone having 2 rows of smaller ports that are different numbers of ports, Edaan’s for example having 4 and 5 ports on the rotor, so the since the ports are smaller, there isn’t as much sound that will come out of them through the horn like on a 1000 which mine is. If mine also had a roots blower, mine would be about 127 decibels at 100 feet, which is the output rating of a single tone 1000, whereas a dual tone 1000T like Edaan’s would put out approximately 125 decibels at 100 feet because again of the dual tone rotor having two rows of ports which are smaller the single tone rotors with row row or larger ports. Edaan’s 1000T is also painted with bumblebee stripes which replicates the paint job used on early Thunderbolts that were made around the same time his was, the really early ones, so he painted his to replicate that paint job which has the nickname “Bumblebolt” due to it looking like a bumble bee. My Thunderbolt is also slightly newer being built in 1971, so mine has the standard Civil Defense yellow color which Thunderbolts started coming with since 1955 or so, but appearance and the shape of parts of the siren, both are the same even compared to their 2 different manufacturer dates. Mine is also restored as you can tell and mine has serial number T-2910-D, where as his is T-498 which tells you what number of siren it is built, his being the 498th one built, and mine being the 2910th one built. Awesome!!!!! In tornado alley and in the Midwest an lot of old Air Raid sirens was also used for Tornado / Severe Storm Warning sirens also Vol. F.Ds also used them for to call firefighters and their paramedic crews to the fire house for fire / paramedic calls.
