It finally happened! After years of this siren mostly just sitting in the garage in pieces I finally found the motivation to start working on it about 2 weeks ago to have it ready for the Fourth of July. With the help of my dad and the tools at his work, I had the bearings pressed onto the motor rotor, I reassembled the motor and siren(after a $40 hardware store trip) and we raised it onto the cart and wired it. I got the VFD I had years ago, before I knew how to size them correctly, which probably explains the overcurrent trips before the siren could hit full speed. I’ll have a better solution for next year.
A couple of friends of mine and my uncle were also there, with a friend bringing his ex-TNPP Model L. Both the L and STH were clearly audible across the canyon near our house. I made sure our immediate neighbors knew about it beforehand.
