Love this wing. I got a 6.5 and there's plenty of power. It is hard to "pump" in light wind which I think is just a factor of the boom. Once up on foil it's very comfortable. Wing tips don't bury like the Echo; much lighter than the Echo; much easier to setup than the Echo; handle is more comfortable than the echo. Because the tips don't bury and the boom adds rigidity, you can hold the wing more vertical and out in front of you to gain a little speed before you get on foil. Then when the gust comes you can do a couple long pulls and you're up.

100% agree Jakedawg. For experienced wingers, the slick is easy enough to get going in light winds. For beginners, I think there are easier options that have more lift and grunt before takeoff. The Slick is very forward flying and likes to generate apparent wind off-board speed. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding Tucker, do you think the Echo is a better beginner option than the Slick? Also is the echo one of the more grungy light wind wings you referenced

People often think they've got to turn the valve hard and lock it to pump up position... you don't! The more rigid duo pump hose keeps it locked open for you to pump. Put a turn/twist in your hose and the rigidity of it will want to wind the valve open on itself. Then turn to close and screw cap on. If you forcefully turn the valve thinking you need to lock it somewhere to pump, you can over turn them resulting in moving things inside and creating a hiss eventually.

For sure, I've seen this Ian. Sadly, many of their valves hiss right out of the box. Not a problem once you secure the cap, but it is a bit confusing and frustrating for those not familiar with their system. -Tucker

Hi Tucker - were you using the alloy or carbon boom?

Alloy boom. The Carbons do not arrive until August. Honestly, I think the weight difference will be negligible. I'm told the carbon has a bit of flex which could be interesting but probably nothing a normal rider will notice. -Tucker

How does this wing compare to the older Echo? Mostly in terms of low end and lighter wind. I currently have a 6m and 4m Echo.

@@250zazu The short answer is.... Echo is best for light winds and new riders that need some extra grunt to get going on foil. Unit is best for people riding in surf or wanting a wing that can handle a massive wind range such as higher wind riding. The Slick kind of fills the middle-ground but I'd say it's best suited for intermediate freeriders and jumping. It has a narrower wind range than the others and likes to be held vertically like a windsurf sail. -Tucker
