2:30 You hit the nail on the head, I am 58 and have ordered a 2021 Lariat and it will be my first ever pickup truck, at the moment my daily driver is a Porsche Panamera but I will probably use the F150 more.
The minute you pulled out through those gates I said viola "I know where he's at!" We stayed there over the summer July 3rd and 4th on our way out to Fla... nice campground and nice 150 you got to play with!
@@dedalliance1 Garbage. The new ones were outdated before they even hit the lots. It's old tech, horrible screen resolution, and just bad overall. I really liked the way they drove, but the interiors were total deal breakers for me. If they could make an updated interior with modern tech I'd have been in one.
I wonder if ford will mate the hybrid system to the other engines in the lineup. Using the V8 in 4cyl mode while having the generator setup would seem to be more efficient. I like the ecoboost but id rather had the V8. Hell even the base V6 with this setup would be a cool feature to have. It would give it more torque and help fuel economy as feel for it i think.
I can’t stand that manufacturers are putting all the controls on the touch screen. It used to be easy to adjust your climate controls when driving with buttons and knobs. Also when the touch screen fails and it will you will be out 2000k plus.
I wonder why Ford hasn’t marketed the generator feature towards the RV consumer? Obviously 240V isn’t designed for an RV. Not sure if you can step that down to 120V, but 7.2kW at 120V is 60A! Huge market there, Ford. I would be in heaven if I could plug my 30A RV into my truck, run everything on electric, and still have 30A to spare lol...
The 4x4 hybrid numbers are officially out at 24/24/24, which is honestly insane and pretty much matches the silveado's 4x4 diesel at 22/26/24, while avoiding all the complications of a diesel. I wanted that diesel for the 24mpg but damn if I can get a gas truck to do the same then why bother dealing with diesel emissions?
Man I was really leaning toward a Ram 1500 for the ride and the Ram Boxes but hearing that the F150 is actually smoother makes the choice really really tough.
I feel the complete opposite. The buyer is the loser with all of these new trucks. They are too expensive and have to many features. I don't want a luxury truck, I want a truck.
Everyone loves the sound of the 5.0L....until it drops into 4 cylinder Toyota celica mode. Then you probably no longer hear it or it sounds worst than ecoboost. I was hoping Ford would have never utilized cylinder deactivation. Auto start/stop is bad enough. JD enjoyed the video. Please try to get more content on these new fords.
hi there, thanks for a great video. Can you please do videos on the options of XLT? I see that 2021 XLT has a working bench but I dont know if it is standard or not. Lol, there are many options and it's difficult to go over those to pick the right one for me too
Wow JD you really missed the mark on this video. 1st off the biggest new option on the new 2021 is the new power boost engine and you go and test drive the oldest engine of them all.
The interior and power is for sure unmatched in a few F150. However its absolutely crazy how he keeps saying this is a smooth riding truck. F150 has the hardest ride of all new half ton trucks because of the aluminum body and same leaf spring rear suspension as 2015-2020. Go drive one before deciding to buy one.
The real question here is can you get the pro power system on an xl work truck that's what all the contractors are actually going to use this for if you have to get a Lariat or a limited or a King Ranch it will never be truly utilized

This comment will be stupid to most but the RPM readout is giving my OCD issues. Why is one number larger than the other. Again, I know a stupid comment to most. I would need to be able to change the look of that but there’s no chance I can afford this truck anyway. Still a really really nice truck from Ford
@@lc7917 lmao it was a joke, but I doubt thats something you can change. If you want you can get an xlt with analog gauges but have everything else digital
Love this truck. But there are two issues that I can think of......The Limited is not really a "contractors" truck. And It only comes in a 5 and 1/2 foot bed. Why does Ford think that a contractor is going to do their work out of an $80K truck?
Plus your 04 has a full floating rear axle and a solid front axle. I'm a little skeptical about 13000# on a semi float rear axle which all half tons have
@@rkalla At 17 years, his truck is a survivor. The 6.0L PSD was not a very good engine. And by almost all measures, the Ecoboost and 5.0L Coyote are better engines.
When I first saw the redesign I thought Ram still had it by 100 miles but this Ford increment does feel nice and I much prefer the landscape screen... I think you are right Ram still has the design and material win, but I'm impressed with the Ford.
I like the seats in the Ford better, they feel better and they also massage you. I also noticed the Ram interior keeps up more noise than the Ford. The Hemi engine was loud even at idle. Other than the dash, I liked the Ford just as well as I did the Ram. Also, this is my opinion of the Ram vs the 2020 Ford not the new one in this video.
There was a rumor that Ford might ditch the live rear axle and replace it with an independent rear suspension, sorta like the expedition has. I wonder about whether they did this?
I mean if you have a 220 volt charger with that plug then yes you could, but remember you're charging it with a gas generator at that point, which is way more expensive and less efficient than off of the grid
Do you mean this is smoother than Ram's air suspension? I know they said the hybrid got over 700 miles per tank, but do you know how big a tank it has? I suppose the battery eats up some of the fuel tank room. Another question, is the 30A good to power a RV? Is it the right voltage and connector?
For the prices they are charging for new trucks they should all be Lincolns! Seriously I bought a 2011 Ecoboost XLT new in 2011 for 32K and nearly died. I looked at new trucks last week and had to go the the ER!
Its how they reworked the leaf springs. From my understanding, ford made 2 leaf spring work ups, one with one large spring and one soft spring for smoother softer ride when not towing, and one with two larger springs on top the base spring for towing. I dnt knwo which hes riding in though.
Everyone loves the sound of a 5.0. What size engine is this ????? It’s a 3.5. D oh! When I fill up my Duramax it usually says 650+ miles to empty. So that eff wan fiddy isn’t much better on range for a hybrid.
@@littlefinkle7757 Yep, that’s common knowledge. but during the ride when the driver floored it JD said “ everyone loves the sound of a 5.0” Then when they open the hood JD ask’s what motor it has and the guy replies, “ it’s a 3.5 liter “
@@TheDesertdawg1 must not be watching the video very closely. They looked at two different trucks but only drove the 5.0 in this video. The second one where they looked under the hood and discussed the 7.2 kW generator was the Powerboost 3.5.
I’m liking this truck but my new Ram limited is a super nice truck. While I haven’t drove a 21 F150 I can’t imagine it rides better the the Ram with the air ride. I leased this truck so I’ll have it for 3 years but as long as I have zero issues it’s a super nice place to be.
There's no way it has the payload to handle that big of a trailer. a 13-14k pound fifth wheel camper will almost max out a 3500 with passengers and gear. How can they get such a nice ride with very limited leaf springs?
@@dedalliance1 it has over 3000lbs of payload, more than most 3/4th tons (when properly equipped), the regular trucks are rated for like 10k with 1800lb payloads
you know it just means no carbon copies right? anyone can still have outlets in the bed hooked up to a hybrid system, just cant operate identically to this.
It looks too much like the previous F150 it needs a complete overhaul just like the super duty all they did was replace a grill and head lights not worth upgrading in my opinion
Ford might win back some toyota tundra buyers soon since toyota is going away from a V8 engine to a turbo V6 for 2022. Ford should always keep the V8 as an option. Wish toyota was keeping the V8 for the tundra.
toyota is in a rough spot right now because their brand image of reliability is what keeps them where they are, but their vehicles are getting so outdated that regulations are catching up to them and the prius isn't carrying them the way it once was, so in upgrading their cars to be more competitive on paper, and suite the regulations, they will ironically lose customers (although I wouldn't even consider looking at a tundra until it gets the clean sheet redesign, so maybe they will pick up new customers finally with updates)
@@james2042 nope thats totally wrong, toyota has hundreds of hybrid models and they have already sold over 12 million hybrids worldwide, they are just trying to electrify more and more models
@@carholic-sz3qv Okay lemme rephrase, in the united states, they are selling more less efficient vehicles as of late, this means their really inefficient vehicles (like the tundra) need a serious overhaul fuel economy wise. Also with the shift to smaller hybrid and turbo engines, they alienate almost all their current truck buyers, who buy toyota because ford made the ecoboost
