Wanted to lower mine but don’t want to get rid of borla dual exhaust . Thanks for explaining that issue what exhaust setup did you end up going with
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 5 месяцев назад
An exhaust shop could get it to work, but you’d likely need to heat wrap the pipes to stop heat transfer and it would likely touch if the truck went down to the bump stops. We just dumped it at the muffler.

What size tires for this drop? Looks perfect for a 3/5 drop.

These are the stock rims/tires, but we did put a customer forgestar setup: instagram.com/reel/C4WR4PhOYdL/?igsh=OWZmYWRwcjZydnhm

So you dont need anything under the front lower control arm to support the coil spring once you take the upper balljoint loose?
@MurphysLawGarage

No it wasn’t under a bunch of tension.

@@MurphysLawGarage I've taken normal coil springs out and there was major tension.. I guess rhw struts are different?

What add add a leaf did you guys go with? How much did it net in lift?
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 3 месяца назад
The ReadLift 1.5” add a leaf. We gained right around an inch. If you’d like to see pics of the new stance look us up on insta @murphyslawgarage - I recently posted some of it on Forgestar X12 wheels.

Thank you for the reply, Truck looks great! @@MurphysLawGarage

No problem, thanks! The add a leaf actually makes the truck ride better than stock on the drop kit and it even tows more confident - highly recommend.

@robbuchanan4870 5 месяцев назад
You should also use a 1" lift shackle instead of a add a leaf.
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 5 месяцев назад
Actually, it depends on how the leaf spring pack is setup on your configuration. This truck had only one leaf spring from the factory and the lower made it bouncy. VAS and Beefcake Racing both advised to use an add a leaf, we’ve since installed it and it rides like oem now.
@robbuchanan4870
@robbuchanan4870 5 месяцев назад
@@MurphysLawGarage if you tow, like you say you do you'll want a helper bag kit from either IHC or Ridetech. A 1" lift shackle to raise the rear and a helper bag kit is a better choice than adding a leaf. But it's your truck so you do you. Good luck.
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 5 месяцев назад
@robbuchanan4870 “in your opinion”, the truck is trying to bridge the gap between 60’ at the track and towing, its how we want it.
@cristian101
@cristian101 3 месяца назад
So shackle is better than add leaf ? I have the vas and it dropped my rear 7 inches to low for my single cab. Vas told me to install add a leaf it would give me 2 inches more .
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 3 месяца назад
@cristian101 it rides substantially better with the add a leaf and tows better than stock. Do what VAS told you - as we did.

What's the part number for this kit?
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 4 месяца назад
Message Terry Reeves at Beefcake Racing on FB and ask him for the kit JB put on the F150 on Murphys Law Garage. He’ll know whats up and get you a deal. We also have an add a leaf you will likely want, he’s got the list - our kit was customized with the viking shocks.

@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 2 месяца назад
@shammahjenkins8870 we don’t make enough power, if the day ever comes that wheelies are an issue we may cross that bridge. The truck doesn’t hop or roll since installing the trac bars.

@@MurphysLawGarage okay understood. I am about to purchase the same kit for my single cab and thought about buying it. I guess it can wait. Not boosting until winter or spring.

You over torqued those U bolts. Sounds like you used factory specs. VAS specs are 75 ft lbs. Safe to say your bottom U bolt plates are now warped/bent.
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 5 месяцев назад
Yes, we used factory specs. This is a factory towing package truck that still needs to tow and 75ft lbs is just too loose. We’ve made 3 adjustments to this setup and re torqued 4x - the plates are perfectly straight, no issues. The truck is driven daily and tows weekly.
@robbuchanan4870
@robbuchanan4870 5 месяцев назад
@@MurphysLawGarage your towing package is long gone now thay it's lowered. 75 ft lbs is the correct specs for VAS. IHC uses 85 ft lbs on the passenger side and 65 ft lbs on the driver side. I'd be willing to bet a ton of cash your bottom plates are bent, because they are. And you should only use U bolts once, not 4 times. Good luck.
@MurphysLawGarage
@MurphysLawGarage 5 месяцев назад
@robbuchanan4870 LOL, ok buddy - all words when your speaking to someone who’s telling you the opposite, nothing is bent and I would bet 200ft lbs wouldn’t bend that plate. Ubolts are most definitely reuasable and it’s done all the time. The truck tows better now with the new setup, regardless of the reduced capacity. Im not going to argue with you, the advice/opinion is unsolicited.
