The 2021+ Ford Bronco is a great vehicle, but one thing that is pretty horrible are the stock speakers in the standard 6 speaker system. Fortunately, you can significantly improve the audio quality in your Bronco with a cheap and easy upgrade of the 4 inch dash and rear speakers, for about $120. In this video I will show you how to remove and replace the speakers, install base blockers on the front dash speakers, and finally perform a FORScan programming update that will unlock additional volume from the rear speakers.
Lastly I will do a sound test, and show you 'side by side' comparisons of the audio output from:
1) stock
2) with upgraded speakers, and
3) with upgraded speakers plus the FORScan programming
Here are some Amazon affiliate links for products used in this video. Thank you for supporting my channel, using these links results in no additional cost to you:

I added some Alpines in mine, I stuffed the inside of the housing with Dynamat. At first we hooked them up without the Dynamat and it sounded better than stock of course but then it sounded even better with the Dynamat. Especially the rear speaker housings, they are just a plastic can more or less. Also there is a hole from the glove box to the speaker housing on the passenger side front, closed that up and it sounded smoother as well. This is a great video for installation!

You are making it easier and easier for me to decide to go with the base! I've been holding onto a 2009 Honda Accord EX for a while, and one thing I like about it is the sound quality. I've heard the speaker system isn't that good on the bronco, and without premium speakers on the Black Diamond, I don't think I can justify spending the money just for larger rims and tires out the gate and a nicer steering wheel. Thank you!
@BudgetBronco
@BudgetBronco Год назад
I do think it is better to go with the lowest trim level that meets most of your needs, and then fill in any gaps with aftermarket parts. You will probably end up saving a lot of money this way. Definitely do NOT buy any package just because it comes with the B&O sound system. You can do a lot better with aftermarket audio components.

Awesome, I am glad it was helpful for you! I have heard others with mixed reviews on the Forscan change. It might be due to something that has changed in the audio module since the early Broncos (mine was built July 2021). There is another line of code that you can try if you want to. In the second line of codes (just under where you changed to 3800) change that first set of numbers to 0900. I have seen some people mention this on the Bronco6g forum. I have not personally done it myself, but you might try, and if it doesn't help you can always change it back.

Very instructional video. I just picked up my 2-door Outer Banks. Mine is far from Stock and has the Luxe/B&O sound system. I personally don't think the B&O is as bad as people say, but it isn't great, either. I think a lot of sound quality issues are based in the source material. Are people using blu-tooth from their phone? There's going to be sound degradation there. I personally have a USB drive plugged into the console, loaded with losses audio files (FLAC). It's the purest source, closest to the original recordings I can play in this vehicle (without a disc player). People complaining about the sound quality also need to consider the source of the audio. That said, I plan to do a similar speaker swap to milk some better audio out of the system and this video was very helpful.
@BudgetBronco

Dude.... You just ruined it! Imagine how much slower it's going to be with all those added grams from the new speakers!! All joking aside... Great video. I've been subscribed to and reading a couple different threads on the 6G forum about this. A lost of it is over my head. Last car stereo I messed with was in the mid 90's. Changing those speakers out looked like it made a huge difference. I am weary of messing with Forscan but I think I will try that where the dealership flashes them for that read added sound bar trick I also read about.
@BudgetBronco
@BudgetBronco 2 года назад
😂 ya those extra 800 grams probably going to decrease my gas efficiency by like 0.0001 mpg!! I think really anybody can make this modification if you have a crimping tool, just take your time and double check all the connections. FORScan is another matter. That can be tricky and you can really mess things up if you aren't careful. The JBL sound bar flash sounds promising too, I think the trick there is finding a good dealer that is knowledgeable about it and willing to do it without charging an arm and leg for the time.

One other additional thing you can do is add dynomat sound deadener material inside the rear boxes and on top of the openness on the front to fix the hollow sound the speakers give because the sound is bouncing off the plastic. I saw this done on another Bronco audio upgrade video. I can’t remember the name of that channel at the moment. But it seemed to further enhance the sound quality. Nice video.

I can confirm the 3800 mod does absolutely nothing, at least to the rear speakers. I confirmed this by running rear speakers into LOC which ran into pro tools. The rear speakers are high passed it seems no matter what internet hack you apply. However, it is a fact that the first bank of that address is front speaker, second bank is rear, third bank is eq settings. What codes are de-facto specific to the Bronco is still a mystery.
@BudgetBronco

Interesting....I think my video proved, at least for me, that the 3800 code change did SOMETHING, but it could be that it is only changing the front speaker output. Thanks for the comment!

Great tutorial and explanation! Why did you not replace the door speakers? Just curious
@BudgetBronco
@BudgetBronco 2 года назад
Two reasons: 1) the kick panel speakers (they are down by your feet, but not in the doors) are a higher quality speaker, in fact if you purchase the upgraded B&O sound system the kick panel speaker is the same. Not true for the dash and rear speakers, they are low quality paper cone and if you purchase B&O they swap in a better speaker. 2) The kick panel speaker provides mostly bass, so an upgrade is not going to deliver as much impact. If you want to improve the bass you will need to buy and install a subwoofer.

Do some speakers (memphis) already have base blockers mounted on them? Or is that a capacitor of some sort? Also why are the base blockers not needed for the rear? Thanks you, your videos are super helpful!
@BudgetBronco
@BudgetBronco 2 года назад
Yes, some speakers come with a bass blocker built in. In fact if you look close in my video when I show the old speakers that I took out, you will see they have a bass blocker built in to them. A bass blocker is a capacitor, nothing more to it than that. You can use them in the rear as well, but I chose not to. In the front they are needed, because the front speakers are wired in series with the speakers in the kick panel, and those are going to be playing the lower frequency notes, so no reason to have the dash speakers try and do the same.

I ordered from Crunch and they provided the connectors so zero splicing... Im not good at splicing so this plug n play worked out. If anyone orders kicker cs 6 3/4s you need the mounting bracket and had to hit the hardware store for mounting screws I used nuts n bolts not drilling into the sheet metal. It does a little of both. I don't think the Forscan change will help much unless you are doing it in conjunction with new speakers. If you don't have the tool to make the Forscan change though, I'd say most of the improvement comes from the speaker upgrade, the Forscan just improves it a little more

I skipped over that part of the video as it doesn't apply to me. However, all he did was unlock additional power to the speakers. More wattage means more headroom. Even with the stock speakers, you're likely to see an improvement, even if only marginal, to the overall sound quality. More power means your stock speakers can now play with greater output at lower volumes. They don't have to strain as much to play as loudly, at whatever level the dial is set. This should result in a fuller, clearer sound....even with the shit stock speakers.

Hello Tim, I recently encountered a serious issue while upgrading the speakers on my Ford Bronco with the standard sound system, and I want to share a warning with the community. If anyone plans on using the METRA 72-5603 connectors for the dash and rear pod speakers, please be aware that the cables may be inverted. During my installation today (May 1, 2023), I noticed that the positive cable was aligned with the negative cable, causing some confusion. To clarify, I reached out to Crutchfield support with photos, and they confirmed that the connectors may be inverted. I suggest double-checking your connectors before proceeding with your installation to avoid any potential issues. Thank you for your attention and I hope this information can help others avoid this problem.

When the speakers are connected with the opposite polarity, the sound waves produced by the speakers are out of phase, which can result in cancellation or reduction of the sound output. This can cause the sound to be weak, thin, or even inaudible. Additionally, connecting speakers with inverse polarity can cause damage to the speakers over time. When the speakers are out of phase, it can cause excessive stress on the speaker components, such as the voice coil and diaphragm, which can lead to distortion, reduced sound quality, and ultimately, speaker failure.
