Great review. The part that mattered to me is when you said with four passengers the pickup was not the greatest. I mean this is the type of vehicle one buys to carry many people. Why would I want to buy it if it can't get out of its own way when I am carrying my family. I think this is a hard pass, at least in four cylinder form. I take Telluride or Grand Cherokee L any day over this poverty level Explorer.
brian...my other question is about FWD vs RWD in long-term relibility and repair cost. i have heard the RWD is costlier to build and has poorer MPG, but the FWD even with the less cost to build has a more complicated setup and thus costlier to repair should any of these transaxle systems go down. easier to build and drop-in during production but difficult to access and repair afterwards???? which is it???
I think that’s pretty much unknowable with any kind of certainty, plus those post warranty costs are borne by those owners, making it all difficult to track.
@@BrianMakse well, kinda hoping after 30 years of front-wheel repairs vs rwd we would know this stat. and i am speaking about higher mileage, cettainly above 100k. that must be known by now. cost to repair a FWD SUV vs a RWD tranny/drive ...?

thank you so,so much for this. all i ever see is the almost religious praise of the new korean three rows. but I want RWD... and yesterday i asked somebody who bashed this engine for its gutless performance why? why, if it has more horsepower and torque than the poor MPG 6 engines would it be more sluggish, especially down low with the turbo???
Thanks, Paul. It was definitely slow when I had it filled to the brim, but not terrible. With just me on board, it was quick enough, plus the rear drive dynamics make it enjoyable. I don’t understand why anyone would bash on this thing. Great value.
@@BrianMakse when compared to the korean? inyour earlier review of ithink the palisades, you suggested it to was slow, especially on upper engine revs...i think i remember this. i am hoping it is better than tha, especially since you complained about road noises in the palisades.
