🔸🔸🔸🔸 Is The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse A Better Option Than The 2021 Ford Explorer? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R7Mj1N2fqkY.html

Have a 21 XLT as a company vehicle and really like it. Plenty of room and rides like a luxury car. Wanted a pickup but now like this better. As far as gas mileage getting 24 combined.

I see a ton of them on the roads here in Canada and especially that ST trim. Is Ford having some sort of a promo on them, cause that is one expensive trim.

Had this Explorer for about a year now. @ 1:11. Worst gas mileage of any 4 cylinder vehicle I've ever owned. Averages about 15 overall.
@ronaldokayo4197
@ronaldokayo4197 3 года назад
I may be wrong but gas mileage is contributed to by many different factors including but not limited to how you actually drive your vehicle. This is the same even for Hybrid vehicles (Non-Plug In)
@VehicleVisionary
@VehicleVisionary 3 года назад
Yes, many variables do factor into MPG including how a person drives, where they drive, and how often they drive the same route. The more variables, the more inconsistencies will occur.
@DMETS519

@@ronaldokayo4197 Right. I drive this explorer the same way I've driven every other 4 cylinder car I've ever owned. I didn't buy this thing for the mileage anyway. I know its a 4 cylinder pushing a heavy vehicle so I didn't expect it to do great anyway but my 8 cylinder mustang I still have does a little better with mileage than this explorer.
@ronaldokayo4197
@ronaldokayo4197 3 года назад
@@DMETS519 Interesting. You may have a point though. A colleague drives an ST and he says the MPG isnt even remotely what the numbers in the window sticker shows by over 10. It is possible they play with the figures to drive up sales. For some considering the engines, the MPGs seem almost too good to be true.

I’m considering the purchase of a new Explorer, but will be towing a boat. Total weight of boat and trailer comes in around 2500 lbs. I’m a little confused about the tow capability of the Explorer. At the start of the video, it stated tow capacity was 5,300 lbs. But towards the end, you said it is a good choice for light or very light duty towing. The tow package is a class 3, shouldn’t that be more than enough for 2,500 lb. tow weight?
@Mattribute
@Mattribute 3 года назад
It'll be using the boost a lot when towing, killing fuel economy, but 5,000# will not damage the parts. So 2500 is no problem.

I've towed my boat several times with my 2011 explorer, boat and trailer coming in at 3500

This 2.3L I4 engine, with a turbo charger and direct injection, is not going to last much over 100k miles; however, this engine in a 4000lb SUV, is much to small. It makes good power and torque, but the increased cylinder pressures and temperatures of turbo charging, potentiates decrease engine life. Direct injection can cause serious carbon build up on intake valves. It's an expensive vehicle, you won't want to keep long term. The 3.0L Ecoboost V6, comes from the F-150's 2.7L, except the 2.7L has both direct, and port injection. The best bet, is the Hybrid, but that's still a gamble.

I noticed that the front seat actually seems to reach the back of your knee. How tall are you? My biggest gripe with midsize SUV’s is that they cut into the back of my thigh. I hate that.
@VehicleVisionary
@VehicleVisionary 3 года назад
I’m 5 foot 10 but with my racing background I tend to like being a little closer to the steering wheel also the seat was actually moved up a lot further than you might expect.
@franmorr1966
@franmorr1966 3 года назад
@@VehicleVisionary When you are sitting in the seat, regardless of how close the seat is to the wheel, the seat looks like it supports your legs well and reaches your knee. I’m not sure having the seat close or far would affect the seat close to the back of your knee, no?
@VehicleVisionary

I may need to do another video with an explorer and shoot from a different angle to show what it really looks like. Something else to consider is the fact that my foot was not on the pedals during the portion of the video where you could see me sitting in the front seat. My foot was flat on the floor so it definitely made everything look closer than it likely was. Having my foot on the pedal might not make that big of a difference but it’s something I’ve never paid attention to before.

@@VehicleVisionary Thank you for replying. It’s something that is important to me in my next vehicle. I have a 2020 GMC Terrain right now. Nice looking car and all but I don’t find it that comfortable. I’m 5’8”. I’m leasing it so I have another year and half with it. My next vehicle choice will be primarily based on the seat comfort.

Ford dealers are happy to sell you a vehicle but they can't currently repair cars due to a Ford parts shortage. Something they don't tell you when you buy a Ford. Ford blames COVID but according to my body shop (a nationwide chain) they have no problem getting parts for GM, Chrysler, Kia's etc. So if you're in a fender bender or a part fails on your Ford, it CAN'T BE FIXED. My 2021 Explorer has been sitting at a body shop for 2 months after we hit a deer and did relatively minor damage on it. Ford has no idea when they will be able to get parts and they refuse to pay for a rental car. They refuse to offer a loaner car. I'm currently in the process of filing a claim in Civil Court. The car may not be a lemon but the Ford product support and customer relations certainly is.

Really? I just took my car to ford 2days ago to get repaired and got a loaner the same day
@6862ptc
@6862ptc 3 года назад
@@ericsaavedra5833 They wouldn't and won't do that for me. My new car has been in the shop since Feb 2nd. It has less than 300 miles on it. Ford refuses to let me know when I can get parts, refuses a loaner car and refuses to pay for a rental. Ford shouldn't be selling cars they can't support.
