It really cranks out the torque. As seen in the roll race the similar HP figures had them nicely matched. Ecoboost has tons of torque in the low and mid range and that 10 speed helps make up for the HP/torque fall off on the top end. Wish they would give all ecoboost the sound treatment the new raptor got though doesn’t have to be the active exhaust but more so the loop that makes it actually sound like a performance V6.
@@sherylellingson3538 Actually a stock 3.5L ecoboost has a HP fall off right before redline. It’s not as severe as the torque fall off. Boosted engines do not always continue to make HP through to redline. The small stock turbos lose steam right before redline. Forced induction of choice will determine if power is on the rise through redline. Ford didn’t make the 3.5L to pull hardest at the top they built it for low and mid range torque where a truck would mostly be used.
all around TQ also. After a few more practice runs I think the rolling runs would be a bit closer. The 3.5 EB is sitting at 500 TQ but also has 400 hp. The Coyote and RAM would be nearly identical and a bit more anxious of a race, I think. *I think RAM has something up their sleeve for 2023, '24. How could ya go wrong with either of these? My favorite for some reason is the 2.7 because you don't expect that to give a decent showing at 70 hp less. Lastly...the V-8 sound! Give me a Coyote, and then a RAM.
I have an ecoboost and I love it to death. I’ll be the one to admit I wish we ecoboost guys could live up to the amazing sound of the hemi but power wise I cannot complain!
That's the heaviest "Platinum" version you are racing, and stock EB's go a bit flat up top. I'd love to join the race in my 2018 5.0 10-sp XLT Supercrew, running E85. Has a really strong top-end. It just keeps pulling and pulling
@@hurricane8634 wrong, the 5.0 kills the 2.7EB and there is races online and stock for stock the 5.0 and 3.5EB are neck and neck from a dig. From a roll, the 5.0 wins as it has the better top end. Now if you tune the 3.5EB that's a different story because obviously if you have a turbo vehicle a tune makes a big difference. So tuned 3.5EB's are monsters. But then you have to worry about reliability and expensive repairs Moreso than a tuned 5.0. And tuned E85 5.0's are still beasts and run impressive 1/4 mile times. @@hurricane8634 wrong lol, where do you people come up with this bs? We've had both and I'm a partner in a biz with fleet which has both 3.5s and Coyotes as well. My 5.0 Platinum vs her 3.5 Lariat she had, both 10 speeds etc, both on 93, basically same in the 1/4 except I trapped about 4-5 mph higher which makes sense as the 3rd Gen Coyotes will walk away with ease from the 3.5 merging or highway passing. People need to stop swallowing Fords nuts on the Eco bs, plus I average better mpg towing than the 3.5 did at 6-7k lbs even at elevation, 3rd Gen Coyite are unbeliably strong at elevation for a n/a block thanks to compression ratio, TI-VCT, variable ram runners, much stronger at altitude than the GM 6.2. You do need to run 93 though, 12:1 compression and 87 = lazy. Plus doesn't overheat like the 3.5 does in Colorado, Carolina switchbacks, or even dead of summer south FL with 7k lbs. If I didn't tow a pretty large camper I'd take the hemi and superior interior of the ram. I've towed with both and there is no comparison, ecoboost all the way. The nice sounding hemi gets old when its downshifting to 4000rpm on every hill that the eco can run at 2200 silently.

I dogged the ecoboost until I drove it, then in 2015 the 2.7 came out and I was like, ok there’s no way this ones fast it’s gotta be a fuel economy turd and I drove it too and was very impressed.

The hemi isnt slower its been made more durable and stronger each year just not fast with their tech or any update that competes with others that are going with 6cylinders as a new trend for trucks 😂. I mean do i have to make it clear that its twin turbos on a 6cylinder of course the ford would win. Even the fact its on an aluminum body they dont care about peoples safety anymore just to be faster and better. The f150 literally weight about 4900lbs rams trucks are legit around 5500 to 6klbs non aluminum. The only fords that were reliable and great to have around were 99 and below anything past was total garbage. Their 3v 5.4 is trash cam phaser problems. Spark plugs being stuck. Their even fire hazards with them. Mines clocking 200k hasnt dropped a lifter yet. Its called maintenance to start with. The only reason they drop lifters is due to lack of oil lubrication. Its their mds to avoid a lifter dropping you do delete mds and then it be bullet proof and this issue isn't only adressed with the hemi its also chevy but literally all you gotta do is to use different lifters and itll fix the issue permanently. The 5.4 3v has no solution what so ever. The 5.4 2v only has spark plug issues but other than that its a good motor. But you aspect of saying you own two hemi's must be bull 😂. Also how can you conclude its a lifter issue they also make sound related to exhaust manifold gaskets they make similar sound.
My friend. I have both. A 20 hemi ram not even loaded and a 21 ecoboost loaded. Its not even in the same ballpark. The Ford puts bus lengths on the dodge. Idk how that outcome came to be. The first race was even too close from my own Experience.
Definitely the Ford is way faster. My brother has a 2021 Ram 5.7. He gets bussed. I have the 2020 Ford F-150 3.5. I just got it tuned Saturday plus new AFE intercooler, roush intake, Borla Atak exhaust, AFE down pipes & SCT handheld tuner.
I’ve found my 2020 Hemi feels noticeably stronger on premium fuel, I’m sure the Ecoboost would as well. My buddy has a 5.0 10-speed F150 that’s a decent amount quicker than my truck.
I’m pretty sure the 5.7 recommends 89 or better for best performance. Ford states that 87 is required but recommends 91+ for best performance. The computer is able to adjust timing based on octane aka OAR (octane adjust ratio). It’s pretty neat. I’m able to see this in action with my nGauge tuner.
The last Ford I was in felt like the biggest plastic piece of shit I’ve ever driven. The Rams from 2019 on our 100 times nicer. It’s not even close… Seriously. The 3.5 is awesome but build quality? Don’t think so
Somethings not right here. I own both a 2015 Hemi Express 8sp with 3.92s and a 2018 2.7l STX 10sp with 3.55s. The ford walks the Ram up until at least 60 mph. I can see the Hemi taking it on a rolling (40-50mph) start though.
Ya we make ours so they don't rust. And my 150 is 6600 pounds soooo but it's the hybrid...if they used that truck it would of.been a disaster 435hp 570 ftpounds 0-60...5.3 Lol...GOOD LUCK RAM GUY 👊👊 just busting ur balls brahhhh I love all the new trucks!👊
I'd assume the ram has the smallest gearing option considering the pulls were terrible and you can hear the truck crying out for help. The bigger gears they offer is a night and day difference.
I doubt it was 3.92 I had 3.92’s and I would beat most trucks till about 75-80 and then it would fall on its face this truck in the video has bad launches and pulls up top my new 5th gen has 3.21’s and it definitely feels like it pulls up top more then my 3.92 4th gen
The only reason Ford is the number one seller is because it includes all F-models. F-150 all the way up to big box trucks such as the big F-650 and F-750 box trucks. Not loyal to any of the big 3 American brands of trucks, but Ford absolutely sucks.

As long as it is in sport mode with traction control and advance trac off it should pull the same each time. The only culprits are heat soak or some timing pull from 87 octane, but my 2.7 seems to be relatively consistent even on 87.
Every eco boost pulls power when they get heatsoaked from running hard and then baking in the staging lanes at the strip. One, maybe two runs at a time and then you have to let them sit and cool off to get full boost again
First my 5.7 1500 has an open diff. (1 tire fryer). It is bone stock. I took it to Sacramento Raceway Park (see my embarrassing video) fore the first and only time last fall. Because of my inexperience I was only able to manage mid to low 15s with my best out of 8 runs at 14.98. I know the truck can do better ETs because my speeds through the timing lights were 92 to 95 MPH. I was running against a "tuned" F-150 Ecoboost that was running in the mid 13s so those things can move especially with some tweaking on the computer. Take note because of track rules the person driving the 150 had to wear a helmet. This was a give away that I was in trouble as any one running sub 14.00 or faster had to wear one. .
I would have really liked to have seen the 5.0 as well. Not because I think it would win, but I wanted to see how it paired. Great race and good times.
Having driven both the 5.7 HEMI & the 3.5L EcoBoost, I FAR prefer the power of the Ford. The turbo torque in instantly noticeable even at partial throttle under 2500rpm, whereas the HEMI doesn't start doing its V8 thing until around 2700~3000rpm. You can stay in a lower gear in the Ford compared to the Ram and also the MPG is also better in this regard.
@Trades46.. the 3.5L is a real game-changer. You can tune the 3.5L TTV6 to a whopping 660 hp+ with the correct mods...then you've got yourself a REAL sleeper!
If I were forced at gun point to buy a 6 cylinder twin turbo truck, I’d go with the ecoboost. However, I would keep my V8 for snow plowing and hard, long work because you can’t get the snow plow prep package with the ecoboost engine option. You have to select the V8 option if you want it. Pretty fishy and hilarious actually.
@@charleschamberlain53 i recently trade my 16 2.7 6 speed for 21 2.7 ecoboost with 10 speed the new truck feels like it has 100 more hp because of 10 speed trans it is quick
Hemi holding it down for an engine that has seen no power updates since 2009 and a truck that doesn’t use an all aluminum body. No doubt all the Fords are quick. Ford needs to add that new raptor exhaust loop to all the ecoboost V6 so they can stop sounding like ass. It’s a shame the 5.0 got cylinder deactivation I always appreciated the absence of that function. Ram needs to stop playing and offer the 6.4L in the 1500 as it’s in everything else now including the new Wagoneer.
True but you got to admit the 5.7 holds itself being N/A vs a twin turbo 6cylinder even having a 10speed versus rams 8speed. What they need to do is build twin turbo pentastar 6cylinder to compete with the ecoboost. The v8 itself holds on its own. Its expected to lose to something thats got two turbos lol and also weight is literally below 5k the ford is really light. And true ram needs to put the 6.4 as their second option on their 1500 it be cool. I wish their ram gt had the 6.4 but nope same old 5.7 😂. Chevy seems to offer their big block. Ram just needs to update now people are starting to look around them but im still with them no matter what. But its a shame tbh. Ford making their 7.3 pushrod and then chevy making a 6.6 pushrod ram??? Nothing yet.
@@sergiozamora3181 I’d actually rather Ram didn’t compete with a turbo V6. GM has really shown how to get ample HP and torque from an efficient and more simplified push rod N/A v8 the 6.2L. I think if Ram gave us an updated hemi with direct injection and some other design tweak we could have a more efficient and torquey V8. I’d be really happy with an updated Hemi any where between 5.7-6.4. At the end of the day the 5.7 is still plenty strong. However, for the price of these new trucks Ram needs to freshen up the engine offering in the 1500.
@@JsGarage well maybe ypur opinion but i think they should gm already offered a 4cylinder turbo. Ford has had success with their ecoboost it be interesting gm and ram made one. But also ram offering the 6.4 hemi to their 1500 would be even better. Ram should also recreate a pushrod since ford and gm already have for 2021. Gm old 6.2 was a slouch and heavy. But they did do a refresh of the 6.2 and was even better than its previous.
Question, why do some people stick with naturally aspirated v8? Is it because they don't want the spend the money on replacing the turbos after warranty expires?
Won't be too interesting. Other channel raced the 5.0 and the 3.5 ecoboost. Same year/trim/4wd so it made them similar in wight besides engine. Nearly a draw.

Another test with the different trucks and engines,,,but does anyone think about the gear ratio's that could make a difference in start and finishing. I'm talking 3:31....3:55....and 3:73...some can come with 4:11's. The 3:73's and 3:55's will get the jump over the 3:31's
I don't know, I have a 2018 2.7 EcoBoost, if I launch it in rear wheel drive, it goes at a 45° angle. It's not the fastest thing on the road, but that engine winds up quick. But I bought it cause I liked it, not to race. No matter whether you like a Ford, chevy, or ram. That's what matters. I like them all, I was just at the Ford dealer when I decided I wanted a new truck. I'm sure I would have been happy with any of them really.
Ive owned a Chevy, Ford and a Ram. My most recent being a F150 which i later traded for my Ram. I loved my Ford and am equally fond of my Ram. Both had V-8s. I personally would never own a truck without a V-8. I know the Ecoboosts are reportedly great, but if I wanted to go fast or race I would buy a Mustang or a Charger. I wouldnt be opposed to buy a Ford at all, but with a V-8.
With the F150's flex-fuel 5.0 you can simply add an aftermarket tune such as Omega or 5-star running E85 fuel and you'll find you can go plenty fast. It'll smoke the EB assuming it's not tuned, particularly on the top-end. And Ram's just have no chance vs a tuned E85 5.0. It's a lot of fun how stronly a big-ass truck can pull on the highway. Great "sleeper" fun.
well you will be in a few years when theres no gas powered trucks... youll have to give up your beloved gas hog eventually, seeing that is its a ram and probably wont last long.
I would get murdered anytime I raced with my last ram. It was a quad cab 8 sp 4x4. Just plain could not get out of the hole without blowing the tires off through the first two gears. At a roll from 30 it would shift to 2nd and not do great. Anything below that and it would still light the tires up. It was crazy from a 40 and 60 though.
Dodge builds trucks? Who knew....🤣 100's of Dodge versus Chevy versus Ford video's, getting a little boring. Take a peek at the sales numbers if you want to know which is best.
As a die hard and life long fan boy I can say the hemi will last decades but that ecoboost will be a maintenance nightmare in 5 years and cheaper to just junk
In the real world the 2.7 is faster than 3.5 until you put a chip in it. So in Reality 2.7 was not in sport mode & I know for a fact 2.7 if a lot faster than the Hemi Just because its Lighter and twin turbo.
