I’m 74 yrs old and traded my Electra Glide for a 2021 TriGlide after my wife refuses to ride on 2 wheels any longer, The ride and handling is different but after a few miles I felt very comfortable and really enjoyed the stability and not having to balance 800 lbs at stops with my older knee problems. This allows me to keep riding Harleys

I had the 2017. Love the bike until some asshole hit me. Threw me off handlebars rolled twice and landed on me. Broke my pelvis in half. Would I I get another one? Probably yes. was in the hospital for over five months. Died once. I’m glad to say everything Is healing. I can walk without a cane or a walker. So I guess I’m doing pretty good lol. Just need more time on it and I guarantee you will love it. Have a great day

I'm 70 years old and I'm 6' 7" tall and I can't hold up my Heavily Modified 2002 HD Road King anymore! So, I sold it and bought a 2020 Tri Glide Ultra. The next thing I did was to Modify the bike to fit me and I bought the HD tall man's seat with a back rest and tall man's handlebars...Then I bought a kit to move the floorboards out and away from the engine and down almost 2"... Now the bike fits me very well.... I LOVE MY HARLEY

We went to a Trike Glide due to my wife's health issues after putting on over 300,000 miles on two wheelers in twenty years. We are now on our second trike just because I liked the color of the 2021 model I traded for. Our 2020 only had 21,000 miles on it last April when I quit riding it because my wife couldn't join me. I'm waiting for her to get better so we can ride together again. The difference between a bike and a trike is simple. You ride a bike, meaning you can lean in the curves and it goes around the curve. On a trike there is no leaning so you have to steer a trike. On the open highway I can't see any difference. But on the backroads like the old two lane it takes a lot of upper body strength and can wear you out pretty quickly until you get use to it. Now that we've put on a few miles on trikes I don't think we will ever go beak to a two wheeler for several reasons. My wife's health issues ia number one, but also because the trike is much easier to be seen by other drivers, they handle great on wet roads, groves pavement, pavement with tar snakes, and even when there are a few gravel on the pavement. We do feel sager on the trike and they are great vacation machines.

After you ride a trike for awhile, you become one with the machine and all of the unstable riding you are having now will go away.

No! You were feeling the center “ hump” of the road. You should never ride in the center of the lane. Slickest area to ride on. Hence the dark oil looking stripe from it. Basic permit riding stuff. One of the first things you learn in any class. I doubt it was wondering as much as you say. You were wondering because you kept using the center of the lane. It’s still considered a motorcycle. Do you ride the center on a motorcycle? Duh?!
@patricknester435
@patricknester435 10 месяцев назад
Your first mistake is. Yes, you have to ride in the center of the road or as center is. You can get it and yes, the center of the road is got the most oil and usually has a pretty good bump in the road, so to speak. but if you ride in the center of the right lane or the left lane up for where the tires are at your rearing hangs over on both sides. And you have a really good chance of being clipped from either something on the off-road or somebody coming at you at 60 miles 70 miles an hour. Pick your side, ha ha. you just have to learn what your style is going to be because you do have to listen to physics. Of what your bike is going to do and it's capable of doing. Have thave a good day

It's Not "hard to get used to!" Especially if you have any riding experience. This guy sounds like he has about. zero!. My god he Whines about every second!. Mustn't have never rode or owned a touring class Harley because all the controls are the same.. Christ I've been riding and racing for over 57 years on 2 wheels, I bought a new 23 tri glide and took 2 seconds to get used to it.! It don't jump around on the highway for me, even over a 100 mph!. Stop over powering the bars and let it drive itself!!

I heard a bunch of negative feelings expressed about how it handled .. did the rider set the suspension for himself? I'm guessing not. I bet it's at zero. It's under the seat. Unless they took the seat off and set it for each rider or pairs it wasn't set for the riders weight.
@MyMotorcycleObsession
@MyMotorcycleObsession 3 года назад
Very true, on a lot of bikes you can adjust the suspension. I was driving down to the Indian demos this last weekend and saw a trike that handled better than any I've seen. I got a chance to talk to the guy, he said he upgraded his rear suspension, best thing he ever did to his trike. Handled as smooth as a car.

I am 60 and I've been riding a HD since 1976...I went to Tri-Glide Ultra in 2019. I've added sum features to mine for more comfort for my wife, and will say I AM SOLD ON THE TRIKE, and will not go back to (2) wheels. If your an avid rider you'll be comfortable on the trike within a week. After that enjoy those long rides in comfort, to include in taking 30 seconds to load bike and be ready to ride. 👊respect👊

Trikes are fun and are awesome on the open road. For comfort and stability they are hard to beat. Visibility to other drivers on the road is a key safety factor. When steering a Trike into turns you must push & pull. It takes more body strength but your woman will love the feel of your arms. Overall you will ride free on three!!!

You mentioned the heat coming from the engine. We had a 2014 HD Tri-Glide Ultra Classic, which had the 103 engine, which l found gave off a lot of heat. I can imagine now with the 114 engine, it would be brutal. We now have a Can-Am Spyder RT Limited, which l find much easier to ride. Much better stock suspension, less heat and power assisted steering above 6 kilometres a hour! Enjoyed your vlog. Safe Travels. 🙂🏍🇨🇦

That guy you were following and that dude back at the hauler, they weren’t high powered salesmen or anything like that? Because then you would only have two minutes to decide whether to buy the trike. I think the best reason for having a trike is that it won’t tip over at intersections or in parking lots and the everyday occurrences of rather tedious things you have to learn about the trike you would forcibly get used to right away.

(.and have been riding 2 wheels for 70 years) the test rides on 3 wheels are interesting...no leaning takes some getting used too...pulling and push steering also...but comfy, stable and definitely on my bucket list for 2023 tri glide ultra....

Looked & sounded like a good test ride. I wish he had said what his speed was on the highway at the times he was talking about the handling. Corning is a concern versus 2 wheels. I'm 66 and been riding Electra Glides for 18 years. Thinking of making the change due to knee concerns holding & moving the bike. Is the trike the best answer or go lighter on 2 wheels? A lot of money for this investment!
@MyMotorcycleObsession

Highway speed was 65 mph. It's more unstable on the highway than any bike I've been on, but at slow speeds it's nice if you have bad knees. I'd test drive one for sure, takes a bit to get used to it. They recommend practicing in a parking lot before you hit the highway. I saw one trike that had an upgraded rear end, was super stable on the road compared to stock.

Totally fair to say that “you ride a motorcycle and drive a trike”. The two couldn’t be more different- a trike is actually closer to an off-road 4-wheeler feel. As the rider, you steer vs. lean and you feel a push in corners (turning left, your body wants to continue to go straight). I prefer a motorcycle (think most riders do), but your passenger will probably prefer the trike. I disagree with the “stability” point made here- these things are 1,200lbs, so You are going nowhere and it feels like it. To each his own, but they are a nice alternative for those who have bad knees, are doing lots of two-up, or just want their “nervous” passenger to have more fun.

When you are used to ride a sidecar, it will not be a problem to drive this Trike ... but for a 2 wheel driver it is not obvious. ... DO NOT LEAN, but use your arms. Sit-up straight and pull on your arms ... use the handlebar for STEARING ...do not use your body to stear.
