The 2.0T version of the excellent Honda Accord is the engine of choice for speed addicts who still need a family sedan. Even though the manual is no longer available, the 10-speed automatic still provides good fun and decent efficiency.

Just me: I have a 2020 2.0 touring, with 56,667 miles. I'm getting 30-33 mpg with 85% highway miles. I have Michelin Cross Climate 2's 19 inch wheels (garbage original tires). I live in the upper midwest, I wanted the best all season most aggressive tread and it drives better and kills in the snow and rain. I was told before I bought them that the mileage would drop by 3-4 mpg, it hasn't. I love my car.

Yep, stay away from the 1.5t. There has been a lot of head gasket issues popping up on the L15 engines of late. Seems around 80k miles folks are seeing increase wear on the engine. The "K" series engine that the 2.0t Accord (similar to the Type-R's) looks to be build to handle way more power and should last much longer.

When I'm out in the suburbs with far fewer stop signs and traffic lights further apart I've been getting about 28+mpg. I'm looking forward to doing a road trip with mostly highway driving to see if I can get it averaging over 30mpg. In Michigan's Upper Peninsula, most of the paved roads have a 65mph speed limit. A couple hundred miles on those roads at those speeds netted a calculated mpg of 43. I know. Hard to believe. I only rip when I need to but I usually drive like the old dude that I am.

how does the manual transmission on the accord feel? ive seen some people say that it feels worse than the transmission on the Type R
@woodswalker1111
@woodswalker1111 Год назад
It felt pretty good. The Type R has automatic rev matching (it can be turned off) and the Accord does not. That's the only difference that I know about. I'm not sure if that puts one ahead or behind the other. The only time I got to drive a Type R was when it was brand new with about 40 ish miles on it. I didn't feel right about giving it the beans when the engine wasn't past the break in mileage. That means I didn't get to form an opinion on the way it shifted. Sorry if this doesn't help much.

I own that same car and you will never get 500 miles of range. You will get low fuel warning with 3 gallons left. Range reading on their displsy will go to 0 at around 390 to 410. Manufactures do not want you running low on fuel. Bad for the fuel pump. They need to be cooled by the fuel in the tank. This is even more important on hybrid cars.

I have an 18 Accord Sport 2.0... I've had it for 38 months now, with roughly 36k miles...I'd say roughly 22k miles are highway (my shop was 74 miles round trip from my house, so a lot of the miles are highway), and I've averaged 20mpg overall. Granted, for the last year it's been mostly city driving. The mpg has slowly gone down over the past 3 years. I was originally averaging about 27 highway... Not even seeing that these days.
@evanfranco450
@evanfranco450 3 года назад
The engines the Honda’s have these days are gasoline direct injection, meaning that it injects fuel directly into the cylinder. Whereas port injection, it injects fuel onto intake ports and valves and cleans them since gasoline is a good solvent. Some of the drawbacks of GDI engines are clogged fuel injectors and carbon build up, therefore decreasing mpg. Edit: I just realized that I sent this a month later lol
@chris_favreau

@@evanfranco450 it's all good Evan... The shop that I was referring too was my auto repair shop that I owned for a decade, so I totally understand what you're saying. Lucas gas additives should fix that issue. Always always change out your oil Before the manufacturer recomendacion. So for example mine say every 7k miles….. I change mine out every 3k miles and use the best oil. Mobil 1 …. Also Amazon basics uses the same oil manufacturer and has been tested to be just as good if not better. Literally Use clean gas and good oil with oil changes brake pad changes rotor changes and your car should always be running fine. Even if it’s a kia with a gdi engine…. I’ve literally made those car go past 100k miles with zero issue… all it is …. Keeping up with maintenance….. never get slack when it comes to that… all it takes is one drive to fuck up a car
