Just upgraded from my Civic to the new Accord Hybrid EX-L and this review is spot on. This car feels like a luxury car. I didn't think I would ever own an Accord but I absolutely love it. It really does ride incredibly. This car looks the best in black with the black leather, which is why I got it. I don't know why people think this car doesn't look good. It has the best looking Honda exterior in my opinion. It's worth a look if you're shopping for a hybrid sedan.
How do you like it still after a year or so of ownership? Since they took away the 2.0T i was looking at getting the hybrid but this just looks soooo slow in the video. And I mean i drove a 1.5T … what words of wisdom do you have? Things you don’t like about the car?? Thanks!
@@bkhavityoway23I know this is a year late and I don’t necessarily drive a hybrid but I have a 2016 Accord LX with the 2.4L and CVT and by all means it’s not slow it’s less hp at 185 hp but it’s plenty for a daily commuter and quite honestly 212 combined hp is more than enough for daily driving. I’d like to get a hybrid like this eventually if I replaced and upgraded from my current Accord which would be a pretty massive upgrade for me if I did get one.
I drove a 2015 BMW M4 with lots of upgrades MSRP 90K traded it for a 2019 accord touring...obviously not the same thing but at roughly 1/3 the price you can not go wrong with the Honda Accord an absolutely beautiful car with an amazing amount of features at its price point... Really wish Honda would step it up a notch and release an accord type R
Good review I’ve had a 19 HAH Touring for a couple of years. You nailed the experience of living with this car daily. For the price the car is absolutely excellent. Costs me next to nothing for fuel.
@@marcusdaniel7248 Tesla's are garbage once their warranty is over. Look up the videos here on RU-vid proving that. A Honda will outlast a Tesla by decades.
Always found it weird that these supposedly "green" cars come equipped with low profile tires that reduce fuel economy and make ride comfort terrible. But I guess that's what buyers want? Weird. I will say, though, that Honda deserves credit for not using gloss/piano black plastic in this interior. Thank goodness for that.
Agree but it depends.. what if all cars are hybrid? Would you then want a 19” ? What Honda is really doing here is decreasing the price gap between regular and hybrid(1500-1700$)
Honda has built 2 totally different Accord hybrids targeting different customer segments - all the hybrids up to the EX-L target the eco-conscious and the mainstream segment. The Touring segment with its 19 inch tires and other options seems to position the car against a vague near-luxury segment that cannibalizes the Acura RLX hybrid, though that came with AWD, and the Lexus ES250 hybrid. With its choppier ride, it is going to lose out in that segment. The EX-L hybrid would be a better car to buy
Got the heated steering wheel for my 2019 EX-L 2.0 T as an accessory (installed by the dealer). Worth every penny. Also got the Sport Grille accessory since I didn’t like the Unibrow. Makes a big difference in the front end. Honda built an amazing car...
Slight correction, there is no eCVT, it's just that most people don't understand how the car works, the main electric engine is linked straight to the wheels like in a tesla and that electric motor is the main drive of the car, the gas engine in most situations only runs like a generator to charge the batteries and get the electric engine going, only after 45mph and only if the car "needs"it does the gas engine run in parallel with the electric to power the car. This car is has absolutely no gears or transmission to fail.
Not sure why people alway try to talk people into the 2.0t or 1.5t when this is the best of both worlds. Tons of instant power and good fuel economy for barely much more. Who says you can't have fun in a hybrid.
It’s the seatbelt reminder chime, if you’re buckled up it will be silent. IMO it should activate only once you start moving or at least shift into D, nobody buckles up before hitting the start button.
I live in central/ eastern Europe right now and I drive 07 Accord. 😊 It was some kind of acura in US. And that little hatch also works 70% of the time. 👋
I think that's the 19" wheels adding to that. I have a 2019 Hybrid Accord Touring with the 17's and barely hear the road. Especially compared to the Accord Coupe with 19" I came from and had driven for 11 years. The new Accords are much quieter.
Perhaps I'm letting a little bit of my Honda bias show here, but this iMMD hybrid system is so underrated. As stupid as it sounds, it's essentially a gas powered EV that can do direct drive from the gas engine in certain situations. You get great EV traits such as smooth and linear acceleration, as well as fantastically accurate throttle response. Then there's the ICE benefits of not dealing with charging shenanigans. Just pull up to a pump, top it off, and away you go. It's so relaxing to drive. I recently drove an 8 speed LS460 and genuinely preferred my cars powertrain. The only issue I have is the typically four cylinder NVH issues, and even those are relatively minimal. A V6 based version of this drivetrain would phenomenal in an Acura product.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," Thanks for the reminder. It is tragic that the manual is gone. I would take a fully evolved Toyota Hybrid over a work-in-progress Honda Hybrid.
My Honda Clarity PHEV is averaging over 199 mpg over 40,000 miles. I drive 20,000 miles a year. It has an EV range of 45-60 miles. It drives silently during those EV miles.
Have you tested the 2021 Camry XSE Hybrid and if you have; how would you compare the two? Thank you and I love the POV videos it really does help nowadays that dealerships are being cautious when it comes to test drives.
The Honda sensing and the endless electrical issues I had with my 18 accord 1.5 made me trade for my sonata. I was sad because that car was beyond comfortable.
A great vehicle, and review as always sir 👍🏻 A shame they don’t offer the 6 speed manual any longer on the accord. Regardless it’s still a wonderful automobile!
Awesome review!! Just purchased the 22 Hybrid Accord in Sonic Grey, this vid helped with my decision. With soaring gas prices rn, I feel even more better about my choice.
my dad drives a 2018 accord with low profile tires and its the first car i am learning to drive with, honestly if your looking for something like this but cheaper the 2018 is amazing in my opinion. Although i only have a permit and have been driving for only 4 months, its an amazing car
I have a Tesla model 3 Long Range, but honestly thinking of selling it and getting something like this. Just miss the cars interiors. Tesla doesn't have the nicest interiors
@@garoarabian3017 I just think the engine itself could be more quiet even if its at redline. Its like Toyota has a harsh engine note in the rav 4 even though it has an 8spd auto.
The center console door not always opening has been a problem in Accords for decades. My first car was a 2005 Accord, and the door didn't open about 30% of the time I tried. I had a friend who had a 2015 Accord, and they had the same problem. I just bought a 2021 Accord, and while it's better than my old car, it still surprisingly doesn't open sometimes. Maybe I've just been unlucky, but the more reviews I watch, the more I think the design Honda uses is just broken for some reason.
I bought a 2020 EX-L Hybrid after driving all the hybrid sedans. It has the best interior and sound system. The hybrid drivetrain compared to the Camry is the only aspect I am not as confident about, but still works just fine. Highly recommend
There was really no reason to buy an Accord before now if you still have a 9th gen or before, now the Accord has wireless carplay which is huge, that is the defining feature for me, which will be in the next Civic luckily so I can actually get one of those
It’s funny, I’ve tested the current gen accord several times and it’s hands down the “nicest” one yet and drives beautifully, but I couldn’t get past the exterior design and gauge cluster. One of the few generations where I think the civic looks better.
This accord has been on the market since 2017 and it still turns my head. Nothing else does that. This car has aged wonderfully but there's a few things that kept me from buying this generation. That is lack of a panoramic moonroof, heated steering wheel and a good audio system. Ive been spoiled by my 2016 optima with all of those features. 11th gen better have those features if I'm buying one.
@@naveenthemachine I like the adaptive cruise control in the accord better. The camry’s system allows gaps to be larger than what they should be in its lowest setting. This allows for people to cut you off because the gap is wide enough, following that the car obnoxiously brakes on you because it couldn’t predict what was going to happen. The accords system is a little more smooth due to its superior 10 speed, which brings me to another reason I liked the accord better. The Toyota 8 speed shifts slower, a little rougher and just isn’t as smart. I noticed how confused it can get and how indecisive it can be when figuring out which gear it needed to be in. I thought it was just me but auto journalists complain about the same issue. I do miss the v6 but it isn’t a deal breaker if the accord lacks it. The accord makes up with its better transmission, low end torque and it’s precise steering and handling. 3 years on the market and nothing in this class drives like it. I can see why someone would choose Camry though. It’s a great car and I’m glad you’re enjoying yours! That v6 feels like a dream which is something I can’t deny.
QUESTION... what are some thoughts on the 2021 Accord Hybrid Touring? I have 2 dealerships that I have at my lowest OTD price @ $37.500.00.. Good deal? And what are your impressions of the Hybrid Touring? Thank you Joe
Getting my car this weekend Honda or Toyota which one? I want good gas mileage, and a comfortable ride and easy to drive. Also quiet inside I don't want much road noise and space in the back. Also I may start doing door dash so I'll need it reliable and alot of driving possibly
