I knew I became a real adult when 1) old spice after shave started smelling good and 2) I began love minivan reviews and bought my own Odyssey. My wife and I love your family reviews. 🦄
Many people now are so dumb about minivans. They outclass any SUV so much when it comes to hauling people. Parents back in the 80s and 90s had the right idea buying them by the millions. Nowadays they're just not "cool" enough and supposedly an SUV is - never mind they're compromised as a family vehicle by comparison. If you're consistently moving five or six people around minivans are the best thing ever.
As much as i love vans, they have a HUGE marketing and image problem, at least in the states. That stigma doesn't exist in much of Asia for example, so this problem should hopefully be fixable.
@@ciello___8307 Minivans Defintely aren't slow, but they're not really fast either. It would be so interesting if a performance light variant were to be released, like a Kia Sedona N line, an Odyssey Type R or a Pacifica SRT
From a former finance manager of a Honda dealership, your review was spot-on! I remember having to study endless product information videos when I started out as a salesperson and it became a mundane (yet necessary!) process. You've summed up hours of information into a short and very detailed video! (Also a huge fan of your LA flights!)
Have a single friend who bought a Honda Odyssey. All her friends asked her why she would get a family hauler like that being its just her and she said that it was a guarantee that she'd get invited whenever our group got together to go out and do something. She had the logical people mover!
Omg, the emotional park about your newborn was sooo emotional! We have a little girl and we got this same van recently! Looking forward to making lots of memories with the family in it.
I love minivans! I actually drove a 97 Mazda MPV All-Sport when I was in high school and had a Chevy Uplander for about 5 years. So damn comfortable and useful!
Thank you for helping me make my decision a little easier when deciding on which minivan to purchase. I love your chemistry and make car reviews so enjoyable
I actually liked the video while the ad before the video was still playing 😂😂😂 family review of a family van, about to be viewed by a family man. This oughta be good 😄
That elephant in the way back of the minivan....Are we shopping for something new for Evie and darling daughter?? You three always have fun and inform! THX!
Nice review! Honda needs to send you a commission check for the EX we are purchasing tomorrow. This review, and Chris Wardlaw's, convinced me to give it a test. So happy I did. I've driven a lot of cars, and this is the best vehicle I've driven. Ever. Very excited about getting my hands on this one tomorrow!
Great family review, great vehicle, here's a virtual high five! Gotta say though, the upcoming KIA Sedona/Carnival is the one making me actually consider purchasing a mini van. 🙌👌👏👏👏
My aunt and uncle live by Knott’s Berry Farm. I haven’t been there since 1986 even though I have tons of family that live around there. Oh and great video as always.
These family reviews continue to improve. I think I know why. It's the more active participation of the young one. When is she going to become the host?
Hey Micah! Hope you and the family are doing well my friend! I'm kinda torn between this and the 2021 Sienna. AWD in our snowy Virginia winters doesn't seem like a bad idea..... Then again, a 4Runner TRD Pro wouldn't be too shabby! Looking forward to flying with you next time I'm in on SoCal. Cheers, Dave
You can easily turn off the VCM. Just Google : VCM muzzler. There a number of companies that make them. I bought mine on eBay for about $75 and it took 5 minutes to install. Look at some of the Odyssey forums. It's highly recommend that you disable that feature for long term reliability. Hope that helps.
@@thecavsloth9760 I know. Very familiar with it. But honestly, I have no appetite to deal with this stuff. VCM should not be there to begin with. And since it is, Honda should give us the ability to switch it off. I appreciate your reply. Thank you, Sir.
The Odyssey is one of the best minivans out there, but there's no way I'd ever pay 50K for one. Ever. Just not worth the money. Even the higher trim models are filled with cheap, low-end plastics and materials, and fit and finish are hit and miss. Overall reliability is pretty good, though, as my sister literally drove the wheels off one. So, I guess there's that.
The Two Items that Honda does not put on any of their vehicles is 1) The Birds eye surround vision camera and the rear view mirror does not have a camera view that gives you an extra wide view of what is behind you. On one of the Honda Models you can get camera views in the center stack when you use your turn signal . Is it available on the mini van ?
I would only consider a hybrid or PHEV moving forward, especially on a large vehicle. This eliminates the Odyssey, despite the fact that I like the sliding second row seats. As much as I really like the design of the Pacifica, I don't trust Chrysler/Fiat. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is eliminated due to the recent recall over fire risk, raising questions about possible design or component quality issues. I would not buy a vehicle that might burn down the house... why I also don't trust Hyundai/Kia, who also have recalls over fire risk. Toyota has a long history of reliability and is the leader with hybrid technology, so Sienna hybrid wins by default. I had concerns about the non-removable second row seats, but it has been suggested that they slide all the way forward to behind the first row seats, which should make removing them less important for cargo carrying purposes.
Really curious how this compares to the 2021 Kia Sedona. Currently have a 2012 Sedona that is running great but looking to change out. In 2012 we got the Kia maxed out at 34K. The comparable Odyssey was 46K at the time. Hope you have a chance to review in the future.
Another fabulous review as usual. I am in the market for a minivan. How does the lane centering and stop and go compare to TSS 2.0 and Kia Telluride ? They seem to be the gold standard for level 2 driver assistance.
@@MicahMuzio I know but there are no reviews of them, it would be so crazy to see what they were like. since they were only around in America for like 2 years. I am sure no good examples are left.
I own a 2009, still going strong. However, thinking about upgrading. I heard Honda was having some issues with the 10 speed. Did they get those issues fixed?
we have a 2019 pilot with the 10 speed. Overall it’s a perfectly fine transmission and has no problems. Every once in a while it takes like a second too long to upshift but it doesn’t really bother me, and the fuel economy is incredible. Honda’s are incredible vehicles. The odyssey is great!!
I will never get used to the weird side styling (kinks and creases). The name should be spelled 'ODDyssey'. Otherwise it seems like a pretty capable van. And what's so 'mini' about this entire category of 'minivans'? I think it's about time that everyone drops the prefix 'mini' from this category 🙄. One more thing, Micah. You give credits at the end to your wife and yourself, but shouldn't you include your daughter as the 'Official Back Seat Tester'? 😉
Anyone else having trouble with the computer? Wee had to change the battery and now the panel says multiple things are wrong. We took it back to the dealer and they said the back up camera is broken. WTF? Why would the back up camera affect about 10 warning systems? Now they want 1500 for a camera!
What does the minivan play on that 10 inch screen? Is there a Blu-ray player or some sort of wireless cellular network connectivity for streaming video apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, RU-vid, etc.?
those 2nd row seats are a pain to remove. i ended up scratching the lower plastics just trying to lift them and dropping them since they're too heavy. The only silver lining is that it's at the bottom of the seat or obstructed from plain view so it's not too bad
I can’t believe they put fold flat middle seats in for the 2021. Our 2019 Odyssey seats only fold forward 45 degrees, which is a total PITA when you want to load in 8’x4’ wall panels and don’t want to take the seats out. You could fold the seats flat in the previous generation.
Toyota and Kia are coming out with new minivans and Honda decides just to throw a new front fascia on theirs? If Honda didnt have its brand loyalty, it would have failed by now.
