What's good! In this video, I'll show you the process of making beats in Ableton Live 11, the way I do it. The video is pretty long, that's because I'm explaining a lot of things while getting them done 🏁
This video contains the process of making a trap beat from scratch. We'll start from melodies, then go to drums, 808s, effects, mastering, and mixing. I'll show you some production tips and explain why are they important 💯

Very bad advice at the end of this video. You don't want to use saturation on the Master Bus, also the Glue compressor you added wasn't even applying any compression to the mix. The best way to achieve what you are attempting is to first Download Voxengo Span for free and use it on your track channels to see your volume then add a utility to those tracks to adjust the volumes independently using a range of minus 12 to minus 18db to get a good mix. Try to avoid using the mixer channels to adjust track volumes, they aren't linear, the increments increase as the fader gets to the lower volumes, in other words, you make bigger leaps in volume as the fader gets closer to the bottom, to avoid this, use a gain tool like the utility in Ableton live. This is called gain-staging. You also want to download the free version of Youleans Loudness meter, you can put this on your master and add a reference (radio-ready/streaming ready) track to your project and A/B your track against the reference track to see how much volume or gain your track needs to compete. Loudness is measured in LUFS(loudness unit full scale) on this meter, radio and streaming music usually sit in the -14 LUFS to -10 LUFS range on the Youlean meter, depending on genre. Try running your tracks through a master bus and not directly to the Master. put 2 limiters on the master, not a glue compressor, put the glue compressor on the Master Bus. Then lower the threshold until the meter is moving, adjust the attack to fast and release slow and add makeup gain. Turn the compressor off and on and you should notice a slight difference in volume and hear the compressor working NOT PUMPING. Then add gain to the limiters on the Master channel, using 2 limiters will put less strain on limiting by splitting the workload between the two. Always use a reference track in your projects. Run the reference track directly to the master and your song tracks to a master bus with your master chain on it. This will allow you to A/B and test your track against a professional level release and help you get better at making decisions about your mix and what it needs.

So I got two problems/questions with these. First, is where can I get reference tracks for beats (instrumentals)? Would mp3 fit for the reference purpose? Should beats be radio-ready if they're created for further production? Second. When I apply the Limiter on master, it brings this annoying issue when some drums turn off during the track, the melody starts to be louder immediately. It sounds unbalanced.

@@RichLoops try and find high quality tracks to use for reference if you can. Sometimes you can find them on the internet. I usually try and get them for free or buy them or I import tracks from cd and covert to wav. Don’t push your limiter too hard. It should be set to just keep you out of the red. The compressor should add volume with make up gain.
