They probably could’ve broken the record if slade started off better on his receiving the handoff. He had barely moved and damn near had to accelerate from a stop on the exchange. Had he gotten better speed in the transition like his teammates, it would’ve probably saved them the time necessary. But that boy has some damn wheels on him. Gotta give him props for a 46 and change leg with a slow start like he had.

@@yadoo8164 maybe 44 speed outdoor, but I still don’t think so. It looks like isn’t putting effort into the race again based off how he runs. He obviously wouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to break the national record. Really good runners are typically calm while running. Not to mention, he does this same way of running in the 200.

I don’t deny Slade looked super smooth, but he’s two seconds slower than legendary Michael Norman. Norman ran a 45.19 400 in high school.

And I don’t see that Slade has run faster than 47.59 outdoors... If you want to compare 4x400 split times, then I’m sure Norman’s must be faster if his starting from the blocks time is faster that the 46 that Slade just ran. I don’t think Norman ran indoors in high school as most Californians don’t, but let me look it up.
