There's a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee coming in 2021, but the current generation is still actually pretty good. Paul Maric reviews the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee S with the naturally aspirated 5.7-litre petrol HEMI V8 engine. Paul does some on-road and light off-road driving. Is it any good? Watch and find out!

Had my Grand Cherokee for 3 years now and it's been hassle-free. It's only the 3.6 V6 petrol, but has plenty of grunt and will do Adelaide-Melbourne on a single tank, showing 8.3L/100km on the trip computer. Very comfy and effortless. Some people will just never get past the stories they hear from people who haven't ever owned one, and that's fine. Try to enjoy driving your soulless whitegoods appliance.

I have a 2013 Grand Cherokee Laredo and I love it. Yes, there are a couple of (very) minor build quality issues but when l consider everything l get for the money l paid l am more than happy. The styling is awesome and my wife enjoys the look and the ride. The vehicle drives beautifully and tows our boat effortlessly but the biggest surprise is the off road capability; the sand dune my Hilux Surf struggled on doesn't seem to challenge the Jeep and the brakes are superb. Best thing is the comfort on a long trip, when we get out of the Jeep at our destination we don't feel crippled and the fuel economy is very good at around 8.2 Lites of diesel per 100 klms. I give it 96/100 and can honestly say it is the best vehicle l have owned in 47 years of driving.

Even the Wrangler has a 470 hp SRT 392 V8 not to shabby. Otherwise there's the really reliable Pentastar V6 that pushes 300 hp.

I have the 2011 limited grand Cherokee. 5.7 hemi, fully loaded with heavy duty brakes, cooling, and towing. I love it. Mileage is the only beef @8-13 mpg in town. 20mph on highway as it drops down automatically to 4 cylinders. Plenty of storage and comfort. Fantastic in the snow and mud. Back seat is very roomy with heated and cooled front and rear seats. Panoramic sunroof. 103,000 so far. Routine Maintenance is pricey. No problems as of yet. Do have a couple of recalls to address.

I loved my last GC, which was a 3.7 pentastar . Have had 2 wranglers and 2 GC’s. A bit let down by Jeep on a “just out of warranty” claim, hence left the brand for now.... Hopefully they’ll start earning their customers back with better service. Currently in a mustang but would definitely look at the next GC.

I owned a 2016 XLT Ford Ranger and got rid of it and bought a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with air suspension and upgraded second generation four wheel drive and has all the extras and I was a Ford person and would never go back it's a diesel and it is so economical and reliable I cannot fault it in anyway. I have driven many other makes of four wheel drives and it runs rings around others for comfort and build quality so I would only replace it for a later version of Jeep so people seriously should not knock them until they drive one because you would never knock it again.

Fair review. I've owned my MY14 Grand Cherokee Limited (Diesel) from new and have been happy with it overall. It's done just on 110,000 km's and hasn't left me on the side of the road travelling to and from Tamworth, Armidale and up to Goondiwindi and back from Sydney for work. City driving is a breeze, and it's very capable offroad. The only modification I've done with it is replace the 20inch wheels with some 18inch Laredo wheels off gumtree to fit larger tyres on them. Other than a a couple of recalls which were handled quickly and efficiently by the dealership I bought it from, the only problem I've had is the active head restraint system failing on the front passenger seat. Deadset scared the buggery out of my 14 year old sitting in the pax seat. No collision... just randomly popped out during the short drive home from the shops. FCA Jeep are working it out as I type this and can't fault their customer service. I may edit the previous comment in a few weeks though. I've been told the wait on the part is 6 months. Anyway, I've been happy with the WK2 and look forward to watching and reading about the WL Grand Cherokee due to be released late 2021. I would definitely add it to the cross shopping review when the time comes. Although, word has it there may not be a diesel next year which will be a total deal breaker for me. P.s. probably the best bloody standard stereo system in any car from the factory. Oh and easily do 1000km's on a full tank during regional stints, does between 650 - 700km's on a full tank in city. Stupidly frugal for a 4WD weighing circa 2.5 tonnes.

Just took delivery of my S-Limited and it is not good but GREAT. There is a lot more refinement on this vehicle then you were able to describe in available time. What are the options a tradie dressed up as a tourer or a couple of oldies from Japan. I bought this during Dan's Melbourne lockdown having used the wonderful world of the WWW to select this great vehicle. This car isn't old or ancient it sets the standard for the tradie 4x4 options to step up to. I find my phone fits into the top layer of the centre console and I generally buy a large coffee so I find the cup holders are just right. What about the drivers seat memory? The drivers seat memory stores more then the preferred seat settings but mirror, steering wheel, radio and more. It's a drivers car. Fuel economy is great so far. I can't wait to do my Melbourne to Sydney run to do a comparison to my weekend driver, a MONARO 5.7L which I manage to achieve 9/100 sticking to speed limit and using cruise control. The Jeep has 2 options with cruise control, adaptive or speed. Pleased I bought a JEEP. I'm in.

I owned a JGC diesel for 8 years and it proved to be the best car I have owned. I have moved onto a S5 Y62 Patrol and have to disagree with you on comfort. The Jeep is a comfortable thing but the big Nissan is another level. The Jeep was a great tow vehicle but due to its size and weight with standard suspension you needed a WDH when towing big weights whereas the Nissan you don’t (all be it a bit saggy) I still love my Jeep and would buy another one if they didn’t deprecate like they do.

I own a 2014 Jeep, goes remarkably well, yes they are basic compared to all the flash mod cons in luxury SUV such as Range Rover, but I like how basic it is it looks tough, and I get plenty of complements from people. I have had minor issues one being very touchy on the throttle response and I did accidentally put it into limp mode, Apart from that I would certainly buy another like a SRT to get the V8 and big brakes. Also great for towing and off road very capable

Cup holders are designed for American tastes; i.e. large cups for coffee or whatever else. We do not imbibe, ahem, puny portions! 😂 BTW, I own a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated which I purchased in the States and sent to Greece where I use it from May to October; and a 2020 JGC Trailhawk that I use in the States (Atlanta, Georgia) where I use it from October to May. I do serious off-roading in either country (not extreme!), naturally with the obligatory air suspension and have never had any issues. Of course, I am a stickler to details and service all of my vehicles as per the Owner's manual. I love your video reviews. Keep them coming. P.S. Hey! You have the steering wheel on the wrong side! FYI, I have owned Pajeros/Monteros, Nissan Xterras, Daihatsus, as well as Wranglers, that I have driven in many countries that I have lived (ten of them) among which Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Greece, Italy, England, and can tell you that I wouldn't swap the Jeeps for anything else. Mind you, thus far, I have owned 41 vehicles.

We have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland and it has never put a foot wrong. As for complaints about the build quality, we have no complaints. Both interior and exterior have stood up well to the Alice Springs climate, and with a bit of a rub and a scrub, the car comes up looking like new. The only problem is, Jeep has pulled the plug on the local dealership, so that we are 1200k from the next one! With reluctance, we will have to say goodbye to the vehicle soon, to be on the safe side.
@Renegade040
@Renegade040 3 года назад
This build quality thing, he shakes the centre console and then makes it up from that the build quality is poor, overall the build quality is very good. You really don't need a dealership to service your Jeep, in a lot of cases normal service centres can and do a better job.

I honestly have to say the deisel v6 turbo is the best combo 0-100 8sec same as the v8 but much less fuel usage and more torque also.

Under most more official instrumented testing, the V8 it’s about 1.5-2 seconds faster than that.
@mrnicktoyou

I love a V8 but do you need it in a car like this? Doesn't look like it does much for performance either, the acceleration is just average. I guess you get the nice noise, but I'd stick to a V6 in a car like this. Or a diesel.

Must be a sign that I'm getting old - I'd prefer an old Cherokee or Wagoneer with some modern running gear. Grand Cherokee doesn't look too bad and is one of the view V8 SUVs around that isn't north of $100K.

@@CarExpertAus I've got a 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo. With a 2 inch lift and some underbody protection, I've driven it all over Australia, including a week in soft sand at Fraser Island. It's never missed a beat, never had any issues with it. It's great on road and offroad. I've only got the 3.6L V6, but it's not really any slower in a straight line than this V8 (it weighs a lot less), and I average 10.9 L/100km, including commuting through Melbourne everyday. It's been the best all around car I've owned.
