I am a fan of neither team, but I can happily say it was an entertaining final and I am happy to see another new team win the MLS cup and make some exciting new history. Congrats NYCFC
Congrats NYFC. They had to work to win the MLS Cup (given that the Timbers tied it up right before Full Time was called, which forced it into overtime). Here's to the 2022 MLS season!
NY is Blue!! Vamos NYCFC!!*
I’ve seen this team play ever since the start. I’m proud to say I’m a day 1 fan of this team. From perineal playoff losers to champions. I still can’t believe this happened. We’re champions and we should enjoy every second of it.
I'm fan of both NY clubs so I'm glad that at least one club got the Cup. Hopefully one season both NY clubs can take both trophies lol. For us all the other clubs are our bitter rivals.
Well, that's a second time in 4 years Portland falls to a relatively young club (in terms of years in MLS) in the Final. Congratulations, NYCFC from a Sporting KC fan.
This one probably hurts a little more for the Timbers considering this championship game was at home compared to '18 in Atlanta. Once Johnson saved Valeri's PK I immediately went 'NYCFC's got the win, they just better make their kicks and not choke'.
@@johnathanpatrick6118 I was in the stadium and that’s basically what the atmosphere felt like as well when that happened…from the highest of highs, scoring with 5 seconds left to play, to the lowest of lows all in a matter of minutes.
@@nofurtherwest3474 The conference champion that accumulated the most points gets home field advantage for the MLS Cup barring tiebreakers. It ain't like the Super Bowl. 🤭🤭
As a timbers fan... yall deserved to win this, you were the better team. This was a championship game with a game and an atmosphere worthy of a championship match. I will never forget that tying goal as long as i live. and i hate steve clark
I love both NY clubs but NYCFC has played much better than Red Bull. RB has lots of work to do to advance. been a while since they've won a playoff game. FC knocked out the champion of SS so kudos to the blue 🔵💙
NYFC : it's been awhile that this team shows itself worthy of winning the MLS Cup. Consistency during the regular season and this time around a little smile from lady luck made it possible to go grab that trophy. Congrats, Champs.
Congratulations NYC, you deserve it you haven’t won a MLS cup for so long my dad voted for right team to win and auntie was so in for the penalty’s. Congrats NYC!
trying to feel what portland fans felt.. when the goal from Mora came.. they were like being lifted to the 10th floor of the building, then during a penalty shootout, they were knocked down again.. so sad.. but all football fans around the world will experience that. .don't sleep still imagining.that match..
*Thats what the Timbers get for not allowing a fair sell of tickets to the final and allowing early access buyers to buy tickets just to resell for a ridiculous amount*
NYCFC were the better team definitely. Just wanna bring up something that not many are talking about, how is 1:26 not a pk? Yimmi is up in the air and Chanot completely undercuts him with zero attempt to play the ball. Anywhere else on the field that’s a foul and I think it’s possible to be a pk
Congrats To New York City F.C On The Win!!! I Would Love To See Them Play England's Premier League Champions Manchester City F.C!!! I'm 100 % Percent Sure It Would Be A Fantastic Match And Occasion for Both Sets Of Supporter's And Football In The United States Of America An Around The World!!! Champion Champion Ole Ole Ole God Bless You Every 1 In New York And In The United States Of America With Love!!! X.X.X.X.X.X.X.X
As a Sounders fan I will enjoy watching this on and on and on and on again of seeing the failure of Portland not getting George or Phillip Christmas came early for me
From 2:14 - 2:17 a Portland player clobbered Chanot with his elbow during the buildup to the goal, which should have been called off. Even the ESPN announcers and guest analyst said Portland got lucky with that goal.
MLS - thank you for taking me back to 1989 with the quality upload of your highlights. The 480p. The no line ups. The no context to the game. The horrible editing. Thank you.
Sounders getting bounced early makes it dumb to celebrate this, so I won't. In truth, I'd be fine trading the Cup back and forth in Cascadia for a decade. But we can't do that if we're leaving it up to penalties at home.
Seen it live, was shocked to see phelipe Mora, and Diego valeri miss the pen shot, dudes are old and need to retire, scrap goal please, and playing the two chara brothers was dumb. A loss at hom3 please, Timbers are finished, not a fan anymore.
@@silvestredacosta4289sure I see what you mean, though I've been rooting for TimbersFc since their inception, their above Cali, Oregon is bomb rainy State but personally I'm done with the lineup they need a superstar striker to get things going because Valerie is unclinical, not in best instinctual form, Mora needs better technical trainers and needs to master his spot kick shots.
NY will always be blue. NJ can be Red or any other color besides blue. Seattle and the rest of the league can thank NYC for saving this season from being a disaster. Portland should be ashamed of themselves for how they handled the ticketing for this game, hostile fans, very sketchy referring that was in Portland's favor including that goal which should have been called off. Portland got very lucky to even reach it to penalties.
look within your club, the way they manage things and take decisions since youth to pro, it's actually a blessing they could made the final, perhaps the others are even worst
We won it in 2015. In 2018, we were not as good as Atlanta FC. It was their year. They were the best team in the league. This is one we probably should have won, a missed opportunity, but things happen, especially with the weather. Steve Clark probably should have saved that goal, but that's football for you. Portland have only been in the MLS since 2011 and have made it to 3 MLS Cup finals and 4 Western Conference Finals. Thats a hell of a lot more than many MLS teams. We are consistently in the playoffs, and Gio hasn't missed the postseason yet. No shame losing on penalties. Luck wasn't on our side.
As a Timbers fan who knows Steve Clark's history in MLS Cup finals (seeing as his poor play and an absolute gaffe helped us win one), I did not like our chances. And boy did he suck in this game. From the goal to the PK shootout, the whole performance was pathetic
Champions with an asterisk. The only reason they squeaked by Philadelphia was that half the Union were out due to Covid-protocols. Game should have been postponed.
The MLS will become a powerhouse in the future. The league is very entertaining as it offers pace, aggression, physicality, direct passing, and attacking minded football.
It seems that soccer in the US is at least no longer considered a female sport (which never made sense) it just needs more fans and mainly practitioners to be on the same level as the big European leagues or even Brazil and Argentina
