The phrase: “I feel I’m not getting something from this, how do I get something?” really hit me in the way that I also haven’t been leaning into school much because I consider it useless at times and I plan on changing that this year. Thanks for the video.
Congrats on your upcoming graduation! It's crazy to think that you are almost done. 2022 is a year where I am planning to get my life back under control and to not let external circumstances (i.e. the pandemic) get in the way of my happiness. Cheers!
I remember watching you back in 2018 as a junior in high school as one of my motivations to do well in many aspects of my life that mainly included school. The skills and habits I learned from you helped me so much. Now visiting your youtube after so many years as a college student soon finishing my sophomore year, brought me so many memories and reminded me of the good skills and habits I know were from you. Thank you for everything and Love the videos.
You know, every time I listen to you I feel like I’m reading an essay or a book hahaha is just so well thought and explained , you got great communication skills John!
I completely understand how you feel. I definitely felt great highs from that year, but also some of my lowest lows. But you deal with BS and figure out how to move on.
You are so BRILLIANT in your reflections. I hope you write a book someday, because your unique worldview, your drive to consume books, and your honesty...it's all so inviting. Thank you for sharing.
These videos are the complete illustrations of someones life, watching an older video from John Fish when he was a freshman at Harvard, now on his final semester. Provides a fully rounded perspective about someones development, I'm curious to watch where his progress will be located within the next years, moving into a serious occupation. Please continue to post, and keep up the great work!
I appreciate the authenticity of this reflection. It won't always be good but there is good to be found despite the bad. Well wishes to anyone who is struggling right now ♡
I think the standard response is to make this year a better one, a better outlook might be to strive to achieve something. Maybe not as much as as the previous year and maybe more, but at least one thing will be accomplished!
Legit going through all the bad habits that you are as well. I would guess that senioritis is a part of it, as it is with me (high school senior). Just haven’t been into much of anything school related, and I find myself saying “this isn’t worth my time” quite often. Which isn’t always a bad thing, with all of the mental health issues i went through in 2020-2021, it’s better that i focus on things that’ll bring my mental back up (more social things). i’m hoping though that going into college next year i’ll be able to escape this lack of motivation with all the new experiences i’ll come across. Thanks a lot for this video man, it was really relatable and it’s nice to see that others are on the same boat as me :)
Congratulations John! Just a few more months until it's officially over. 🥳🍾❤Looking forward to seeing what you do after school. Grad school? A start up?
as a senior in high school, I relate to a lot of these things. last year I would sleep in through lectures and watch them at 2x speed. I would find other things to occupy myself with other than school. I stopped studying and got lax on doing homework and then trying to bounce back and cram for the ACT and try to do well in my dual enrollment courses hit me like a brick. I think it will be best to take a step back this summer and separate high school from my future and start developing healthy habits again. It’s so easy to start doing the bare minimum but I think it’s always humbling to read and hear stories about other people and stay engaged in life by reading books and watching movies that inspire me. I’ve learned that I don’t need to be productive all the time but much like intervals vs easy runs, when you’re going hard, go hard and when your resting, fully give your brain a break.
I think it's great that you had to encounter that slump in your productivity and work habits while in high school. I am now freshman in my university and I'm having the same problem as you have had. However, it's much more harder to cope with it now than it would have been if I was still in high school. The workload is much much more higher and I also had to start living by myself. I think most students sooner or later experience that. My two cents for you would be to be grateful that you have the opportunity to learn from it now, while still in high school, and to prepare yourself with that knowledge for university (if you plan on going). Sending you lots of hugs! 🥰
I'm a senior in high school too and honestly John's video as well as your comment is very similar to what I've been dealing with during 2021 and they're inspiring me to get back in control of my life. So thanks to you two both :)
Hola John, soy seguidor de tu contenido y me parece genial lo que haces!!! Si pudieras subir los videos subtitulados en español como el vídeo de un día como estudiante de informática de hace 3 años fuera genial
Awesome video John. Just a suggestion: Lately you've posting just in front of a camera videos. Please consider doing more interactive ones like a day in your life or something similar like you used to do.
You are really great motivator thanks to you I got inspired into reading books . I'm a big fan of you wish you all the best and more great achievements )
Great video 📹 John! I'm always interested on how 🤔 ☺ your life is going! Just keep on forging ahead with your highly spirited enthusiasm and everything will fall into place ✨! Have fun with your last 😀 😊 😄 semester at school!
what about considering this year as your best year. what about judging those challenges and hard times as "good". there is nothing "good" or "bad" - its just about how you deal with it. so there is always an opportunity to shift things in a positive perspective. be proud of yourself and enjoy the journey. this year will be even a better one, for sure
Sería interesante que puedas poner los subtítulos en español, te sigo y es muy interesante ver tus procesos, son inspiración y de gran referencia para adoptar nuevos habitos
you are great bro, you inspire me to continue as a student, I AM studying civil engineering and the truth is that sometimes I am exhausted and watching your videos motivates me, although the truth is that until now I still do not understand HOW A HARWARD STUDENT SLEEPS 9 HOURS, INSTEAD I AM A STUDENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING in a normal university I SLEEP 5 HOURS; (here pending the next video :)
I was getting a little anxiety from the book tower in the back of the video, falling or eventually doing so at some point, when you were explaining in the maroon sweater lol idk why I noticed that 👀😂🤷
Alright, went to back to listen to the whole thing again, but focused out when I realized it's not that bad, but still kinda bad? Lmao oh God, who f-in cares anyways 🤔
Hi, John. My name is Marissa, and I am a future computer science major. I'm also an artist and poet. Other than keeping a journal, do you have any other advice for time management?
hey, John! When you post your videos, it feels like an intelligent friend of mine is calling me to share his recent thoughts about... well, everything. Thank you ;)
2021 was the Most Stressful Year of My Life In Twenty Twenty One, Im Literally Gets Angry Every Single Second Glad I Survived and Im able to be in 2022 Now
Hello Josh (or anybody that wants to answer this comment) I found Mind Brain Behavior really interesting and wanted to see if you could recommend any books on the subject, thanks in advance!
One of my favorite elements of Crime and Punishment are the underlying moral ideas. The question of who decides when a “cause” (like killing a corrupt pawn broker or embarking on a conquest of Europe aka Napoleon) is worth the actions required. Personally I think R. perfectly just in killing the old women for she was bringing suffering to some many people who were already struggling (daughters having to sell themselves, malnutrition killing children). Furthermore the police could not doing anything about it since taking advantage of people was not against the law. However R. killing the pawnbroker’s sister was problematic for R. metal health because of how innocent she was. Nevertheless one could say that she was but one sacrifice that potentially saved many poor people from having to deal with even more suffering. But then again I bet if R asked any of the people that would have saved money from not having to go to corrupt pawn broker if they would just kill a young innocent women with an axe to have the lessened suffering they have now, I bet nearly all would just except the suffering the corrupt pawn broker would have brought. Anyway it’s a thought provoking book for sure.
Not judging. i did truly find the video enlightening. NOT sarcastic. However, I was truly bewildered that a guy that is graduating from Harvard, a guy that can afford doordash, that is super healthy, not worried about healthcare for his loved ones, that has an infinite amount of possible living wage jobs lamented on his mental health. Yet, you did not give one thought to your doordash delivery guy that lives in dubious conditions with no healthcare and no real possibilities to make his life better. I did like the video. Then there is this TED TALK: The Unspoken reality behind Harvard gates... i would have not have been as bewildered by your video if you had not chosen Doordash as your sponsor. Maybe Minerva is a much superior university in these times.
