I love these film sessions. They add an extra layer to the prospects in how they respond and react to their previous plays. I was kinda confused as to why Davion was projected top 10 at his age and with the “outlier” season (to an extent) but I see now that his character, as well as his desire to improve is something that is unmatched.
The problem with the NBA draft is that scouts value guys who have potential and need to be improved over guys who have potential and already improved. Davion is the later. He always had good athleticism and defense. He just needed to improve his shooting. And he did. Yet it’s called an “outlier” and guys like Barnes shooting 45% from the free throw line are valued more. Davion is a beast. He is quick and fast. Has good ball handling. Good passing instincts. Good defense. He improved his shooting. He has made the draft a top 6 for me.

@@becommittedtogod583 nah nah nah trade up to grab scottie barnes. Mitchell only measured to be 6 foot. He's amazing but Barnes is 6'9 and therefore a more versatile defender. He's a better passer too and we need playmaking more than anything at this point. Missing Iggy and Shaun too much atm

Pass. They don't need a rookie PG because it's a little bit risky to trust a rookie to handle the ball for the second unit. I prefer veteran PG because he won't commit a rookie mistake and matured enough to take a role for the second unit. If you ask me, they should draft Moses Moody.
@Jay Theboss If you are talking about current marcus smart then yes his offense is vastly better. However coming out of college marcus smart was the 4th overall pick for a reason. He was that guy offensively
@Jay Theboss agreed! Smart was no where near Davions offensive game in college but Davion is older.. but let me also add donovan Mitchell wasn't as good as either one of those guys coming out of college and look at him now
One guy that is underrated from Baylor is Macio Teague. All the guy did is average 15 ppg shooting over 40% from 3 in all four years of college. He actually reminds me a bit of Jordan Clarkson. To me he’s a very good 20 mpg bench scorer/shooter.
he looks eerily like donovan with all of his pull-ups, step-backs and drags. the footwork, and the actual shot form is quite similar with how they dont fully lock out the elbow and the whole shot looks quite rigid.
He should be a target for the Raptors, Pelicans and Spurs. If GS didn't have JP I would like him there too but they need a backup wing more than a backup guard rn.
Golden state need him. Imagine him and JP running the second unit while curry rests or imagine a lineup of him Klay Oubre green and Wiggins on the floor. That’s insane defense.
@@ifechukwuokafor9289 Defense wasn't the issue this season, the real problem was on offense and rebounding. The lack of high level passers, shooters and size in the frontcourt was what hurt them this season. Oubre and Baze are FA and doesn't seem like they will keep them. They need wings or forwards.
His floor is so high. I feel like he can be like a Marcus smart with a higher ceiling an offense. The shot and creation are already there, just have to improve them but he is a 4 year college guy so you never know just how much he’ll improve. Love this kid though
@@anthonydriotes8804 According to multiple reports they’re gonna try to trade up for a top 10 pick. They’ll probably try to package alot of their other picks and maybe throw in Kevin Knox and see who bites. I think a realistic trade would be to the Indiana Pacers who can take the 19th, 21st, and Kevin Knox for the 13th pick. Hopefully Davion falls to that spot instead.
@@jakep1979 Did you not read the rest of it? You’d package other MULTIPLE draft picks in that trade. Pacers move down 6 spots and get 2 picks in a deep draft. Knox is just a throw in.

Wouldn’t say he is quicker though. Doesn’t have the same burst Donovan has. But I for sure see the potential.. and he seems to have a high basketball IQ
It makes me so mad that he is not seen as a top 5 talent. I want my Magic to get him. We need perimeter defense so bad. I also think he has star offensive potential.
Tomorrow’s the draft and I really hope the Dubs don’t pass on him. Him and Poole could be our future backcourt, I really like his game and I feel like he’ll be a future star in the league.
Gunna be a really good spark plug off the bench for whichever team ends up taking him in the draft, they need to work on helping him read the game better out of sets instead of hunting for his shot in iso but once the game slows down for him he’s gunna be a huge addition
For Donovan Mitchell, Basketball and baseball are his two favorite sports. When Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball, Jordan doubled his 23 to 45 and wore that in the MLB. Donovan wears 45 as an homage to his love of baseball and basketball in reference to Jordan
