Every year: “these guys are all amazing” Two years later “well I actually said I had my reservations about most of the guys and didn’t think most would make it”

Simms is being super inconsistent here… yeah lance and fields were your #5 and #6, but Wilson was your #1 so 🤷‍♂️ also said for months that the bears should keep fields and build around him, so which is it?
@shadowxps
@shadowxps Месяц назад
Both can be true, Fields still has really inconsistent passing presence. The Bears could still have built around him. Wilson was his number 1 but it’s not like Lawrence has blown the doors off…

He is considered as highly as them but his age and most importantly injury history is making teams a little more apprehensive. He's still going to go in the first round and might be put in a better situation than some of the others.

I know low key I think they don’t want 3 brothers as the top 3 qb’s in the draft.

It's the extensive injury history. An NFL team will be investing millions in these guys, that injury history is going to factor in.

The 2024 class also has 3+ starts (except JJ) in the Top 5/6 QBs where most of the 2021 class were 2 years and one of them was the COVID year.

Mike, Zach wasn’t worse last year than 2022 man. He wasn’t ready to return. Blame the Jets for not bringing in a stable backup to replace Rodgers, not ZW.

I’m just not convinced Zach Wilson’s story is over. He has incredible talent at throwing a football; no one who watched his Pro Day can deny that. But he needs his Mojo back faster than the Permian Panthers and he needs a good quarterback coach. People have complained about his lower-body mechanics. Fine. They shouldn’t tweak his upper-body mechanics much I think because he has that quick release although I thought his release point might be inconsistent. It would account for overthrows and worm-burners. But a QB with a quick release must be really synched up otherwise it can look bad. Just ask Aaron Rodgers.
@tvtda1
@tvtda1 Месяц назад
he finally hit 60% completion last year lol his story never happened. he's a fools golden child, he could throw but like you know Joe Milton has a huge arm too, no ones trying to take him 2nd overall this year, yk? he's just a spread guy who thrived off a rocker step and wide throwing windows in college consistently. you ask him to drop and make reads, simultaneously in the fastest league in the world on a regular basis, he disintegrates. that simple, the end.
@therealpskilla502
@therealpskilla502 Месяц назад
He also played his last year at BYU on easy mode vs clearly inferior competition, so he got away with a lot of bad throws

Its only QBs that were bad. Pitts, Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Surtan, Harris were all great 1st rounders just not QBs. And very well could have 3 HoFers from the class when its all said and done.

Cautionary tale that Simms’ QB rankings are never to be taken seriously
@Torso6131
@Torso6131 Месяц назад
Dude got me hyped for Kellen Mond after the Vikings drafted him. After seeing him play in the preseason and after Zimmer was honest about how he was in practice, I think it's safe to say the guy would never, ever be a starter, and may never be a serviceable backup either. I would say maybe he is good in the QB room, but all indications were that wasn't the case.
@user-lx5ok8vx6d
@user-lx5ok8vx6d Месяц назад
The wrong teams took the wrong QBs! The 49ers were supposed to take Fields and not Lance! The rest were trash! I’m still waiting for an Alabama Qb to have extended success since they have so much talent around them. A grown man punching you in the face in the NFL is a wake-up call for most Alabama players

If 2021 is a cautionary tale, what is 2023? We'll wait on Young, but CJ, AR, and Levis all look like they should have been top 5 picks. You can't cherry pick a single draft.
@user-iq6cc3df3l
@user-iq6cc3df3l Месяц назад
Trey Lance was a project. Any team that drafted him should’ve known that. Thing is, he has a strong arm - he had to take quite a bit off on a 60-yard post during his Pro Day - and killer wheels. But he was so raw as he had only one year of college ball. I think the 49ers threw him to the wolves too early.
@tvtda1
@tvtda1 Месяц назад
They didn't throw him to the wolves at all. this was the real problem.
@CJStew06
@CJStew06 Месяц назад
Bringing back Jimmy G and making Trey sit on the bench was the worst mistake they made. A lot of SF players loved Jimmy, he took them to a Super Bowl. Trey was seen as an unnecessary risk and an outcast, and had a gigantic mountain to climb.
