I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 206,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.
@@TheShootersBay 1. I want to support my good friend George. (Motoman). 2. I used to own a Nissan and interested to see what changes they have made ie. Interior. 3. I'm a gear head. I like everything cars. 4. I want to support Motoman. 5. I'm interested in anything to do with cars. Any other questions?
I like the new Nissan Rogue but it and the new Altima are still missing only one very important thing: 9-speed direct shift w/ torque converter automatic transmission. Great review 👍
While it's true that this is a big improvement over the last gen, 0:21 saying they are bringing a gun to a knife fight is an overstatement. That statement is only true if this car is miles ahead of every other car in the segment in every single way, which is clearly not the case. On the side note, there's really not a lot of reasons to buy luxury brands anymore with those top trims. You are mostly buying the name plate.
Yes they will have a hybrid it’s called the e-power motor, think gm volt setup battery primary (just 2kw in this one though ) and the motor feeds the battery there’s no direct connection, in Japan its currently connected to a 1 litre and in Europe it will be connected to a 1.5 petrol on the qushqui , neither available in the USA my gut is telling me Nissan will push the new suv ev instead of making a rouge ev
The unreliable JATCO CVT ruins every Nissan. It destroys Nissans resale value and dulls the driving experience. I'll take a CX5 please, preferably with the turbo motor.
Finally a Nissan i can actually recommend to people. Then again, I think the upcoming tuscon smacks this thing into the ground but they've both got different things going for them
Gedaman You say it’s top selling even though it’s nowhere near the sales of Toyota or even Honda. You thinking it’s the best car on the planet which is not.
chrisgraydon I never said Hyundai had the best car. I just said it was one of the best selling vehicles right now (I was looking at a Car & Driver article about the top 25 best selling vehicles and the Hyundai Tucson was on there.). Obviously the Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue, and Honda CR-V outsell the Hyundai Tucson by a wide margin, but Hyundai overall has gotten a lot better in the past 10 years. I don’t own one. I drive a Toyota Camry XSE, no allegiance to Hyundai. I’m just giving props to how far Hyundai has come.
@MotoManTV, we are of like mind on almost everything, especially vehicle UX and the placement of buttons, knobs, screens, etc. But I must respectfully disagree that a column shifter is THE BEST LOCATION for a shifter in a vehicle that is not trying to be sporty, and I praise Mercedes every time I talk to them for remaining steadfast in their decision to keep column shifters alive. I have a couple reasons to back up my opinion, both aesthetic and functional. 1) Shifting between PRND is something you do only at the beginning and end of your drive, maybe a few times in the middle on occasion. Hide that control behind a spoke in the steering wheel and free up the center space. Most dashboards have lines that run along the X or Y axis of a car. Then there's a shifter sticking up out of nowhere along the Z axis interrupting the flow. (Panamera, I'm looking at you.) 2) With the shifter obscured behind the wheel, there's no temptation for engineers or marketing people to try and come up with some fancy shifter that always returns to the same place (making it impossible to know what gear you're in by touch, resulting in the death of several people, including Anton Yelchin) or create ridiculous push button shifters or dials.
Aaron S There is a new Versa too, but everyone is more interested in crossover vehicles now. I hope in a few years people go back to sedans. Ford has some good cars right now you can only get in Europe.
The Rouge is a great leading vehicle compare to its equivalent counter parts! As for as cvt"s even toyota and honda and the us manufacturers use it. So motoman, you need to clarify that most companies are using cvts because of its great advantages.
This new Nissan Rogue looks great but I still think they should have kept the production car much closer in exterior looks to the car's concept. That concept looks amazing.
Nissan went down hill when they sold themself to renault. I had a pathfinder with so many issues its sad. stick with toyota. 98 Camry with 500k Miles and still kicking.
I love your reviews. Real car guy like me. I have recently begun looking at suvs in this segment for more diversity over my sport sedan. I've driven the top 4 I would say as manufacturers go. I'm very confused. Not one single stand out. Just not enough shit and get for me. What would you recommend in this segment?
Where are the ventilated seats? Only the Escape and CR-V, and now this, are missing that option. At least this generation of CR-V has the excuse of being 4 years old.
Opinions on exterior designs never worth jackshit as it's entirely subjective. For example, I happen to think it looks handsome and a much welcomed departure from the design of the last generation.
These only sold around here because of discounts. Like huge discounts along with financing for everyone. While the price has stayed the same it will be interesting to see if this new generation of Nissan rogue is able to get people in the show room without giving people 5000 to $6000 off the car.
Although, not my cup of tea. I must admit. Mazda has done fantastic with this one. I am in total agreement with you on the transmission. I have never been a fan. I think the addition of gears would add je ne sais quoi. Transforming its appeal Immensely.
I just can’t get past the CVT. Terrible driving feel, no power, and the reliability is abysmal. I had a Rogue rental awhile back. It was literally impossible to pass a vehicle in the slow lane on the highway. Nice place to be or not, they need to do something about that transmission.
My dad had one in a DAF in the 60's. Managed to beat all the posh cars at the light. Williams tested one in F1, was instantly seconds faster, immediately banned by FIA :-)
Linear Cannon funny, I also had a rental Altima about 6 months later, it wasn’t as bad. Still not great, but ok. It seems the reduced drag and lower heft of the Altima tolerates the poor transmission a little better.
