Very nice job of explaining and camera shots with great angles. Anyone would know what they are getting before they place an order. As an ASE master tech, I can tell you a tip found in the service manual or owner manual and that is weather strip care. This would apply to the folds in this hard cover as well. The secret is silicone grease that is sold in a can with an. Acid/flux type brush on the lid. You are asked to place a continuous thin line on the doors weather strip then with a gloved hand, take a finger and run it into the rubber following its shape. Wipe off any excess leaving a film behind. This actually hydrates the rubber keeping it supple, flexible and helping it last for decades. One can will last for years. For those who live where it freezes and doors can stick during freezing rain or snow melts freezing overnight it makes opening the door no problem. The same is true with the use of a rubber product between the folds of the covers panels. It is part of maintenance and a little time & product will help the life of these products. Great video and excellent information! ASE master since 1978 - Retired.

@@BooneDownSouth I spent almost 6 years holding 4hr tech seminars and the a week of 2 day classes. The schedule was exhausting and found myself looking at the label on the hotel phone to remember where I was. The best thing about teaching a 2 day class was two have students that wanted or needed to learn. Guys who work on county diesel trucks that had no electronics or did not work on electrical system asked very good questions. The better the question, the better a teacher or information I taught them. We have a bad habit only in this field as we assume they already know certain things when they don’t. County, Police and even FBI garages have 20+ year techs that still don’t feel comfortable with what they see on a digital multi meter. If they spent $25 or $500 they did not understand voltage drop or simple kits to chase down a circuit short. Sad that I felt I left something out when class was over, but that was my problem. Using power point on a “White Board” kept me on track yet yelled out on the way home during a 350 mile drive, “Hey, you forgot to bring up serial data like class 2 and tell them to expect 3.5 Vdc if active using OBD-2 connector cavity 4 (ground for computers) or cavity 5 (ground for chassis) and the average was the refresh rate of their meter. Even lab-scopes had to be limited to 6 techs because you can’t give them the attention they need. After all, it’s a balancing act between decades of doing and a few hours of teaching. It was easy to burn out! I feel that now, wanting so bad to do something but R elbow, lumbar says you must quit and sit. I am in my early 60’s and I tell buddies it is not the years but the miles of information that wear you down. We have an O’Riellys 3 blocks and I can’t go in there. The guys & gals behind the counter will tell a customer; “Hey, this guy can answer your question!” I will but can’t or don’t want to. I get happy to help and turn in a light bulb but get unhappy because I can’t even do for myself. I am like a turtle on its back. Trying but can’t get anything done.

Thanks for the detailed video. I watched another video and I guess the guy figured we already had the rail installed or something. I should have videoed or took photos as I took my cover off. I only had the truck one day and took the tonneau cover off to put an Armor Gears slide-in camper on. It looked so easy coming off I didn't think I'd have any problem remembering how to put it back on. So well done for a very complete video showing everything necessary to put my cover back on. Similar to another person's comment, the person on the line didn't know what I was talking about. I sent photos of my F150 with factory bed rail caps similar to yours. I also included a screenshot of you holding the seal so they could see it. The person called back and said that they do not recommend the extra seal because it would cause added stress on the bedcover. I was told there is no solution or alternative. They said that I could send it back if I wanted. I am going to try sending the model number you gave in one of the comments. Fingers crossed.

Patrick, I have a 2018 F150 supercrew. The cover was simple to install but that extra front seal is a must or it will leak in by the front corners up near the cab. I’m also getting water coming in along both sides of the bed rails where the seal meets up the the sides. I’m gonna try and torque the bolts a little tighter. I expected a little better design for such an expensive cover. I’ve had $300 covers that extend more over the bed rails keep the bed dry vs a $900 cover that leaks.

Just finished instal of my WeatherTech bed cover. 2019 Ram Laramie Sport in Blue Pearl. It looks great. Install was easy but tedious rail adjustment. I have a MOPAR factory drop in bed liner. It’s a tad more rounded off at inside edge than normal side panels. But got er done. It’s sitting in the sun now. It passed the light test. Had my wife shut me in there on a sunny day. Dang if she wouldn’t open the gate! Reminded her it’s her truck. She let me out. I’ll give it a couple days before a car wash test. Glad I sent the Gator quad fold back and did the WeatherTech.

@BooneDownSouth
@BooneDownSouth 2 года назад
So honestly from the feedback I have been getting from some viewers is that they get different answers from WeatherTech depending on who they talk to. Actually, I did as well. I had on person tell me to do put it with the open part of the L facing the cab, and another telling me the open part of the L should face the rear. I ended up facing my open L to th rear, thinking that once the top is on it compresses that seal, the slope of the back of the L would push away from the bed. Every now and then I do get a trickle of water come in at this point, but it has never been enough to hurt anything back there. I have been pretty happy with the cover and would probably buy this one again.

Also I ended up going with the BakFlip MX4 because i love the fact that i can fold it up to the window to use 99% of my bed without having to remove the whole cover. I am not looking or a bed that is waterproof, i feel like the security is more important than a little water going through. Great video though!
