2021 Speedmaster Moonwatch Co-Axial Master Chronometer 

My girlfriend was Brit and I remember her saying 15 years ago "how could you spend 1500 pounds on a watch, even if it's an Omeeeega"? Me being Spaniard I said "You only live once and I love this Omega" (the Clooney way). She's no longer my girlfriend, the watch is still with me (PO2500C 45.5).

This man just dropped some hot horological knowledge from a street corner. Respect!

While I was working for swatchgroup, we were trained that the brand name is pronounced regionally. Omeeeega and o mega both work!

I picked up a Hesalite Speedy in October pre-owned for a really good deal. I don't care if it goes up or down in value, I just wanted one in my rotation. There are tens of thousands of them out there and I'm sure the secondary prices will reflect that.

I got one of those Mirage rolls this September as it was the first time I was getting on a plane since Christmas. and yes, I was truly and happily surprised by the level of quality. So much so that I use it to keep three of my watches in on my dresser. Gld you gave them a plug. It'd make a great gift guys! Great video as always!

I may have a different opinion, value of 1861 speedy pro is on the rise these past few years and a small price spike recently with the news of discontinued is confirmed. I think value will still continue to creep up slowly as the 861 movement is tested by NASA in 1978 and the 1861 movement is basically a 861 with an extra jewel and rhodium plating if I got my facts correct. 1861 is still being used till date in space. Unless NASA re-test the 3861 its not a true moonwatch even if Omega test it themselves. I love applied logo on a watch but it looks a bit out of place in the speedy pro as nothing else in the dial is applied while the applied logo in FOIS have matching hour, min and sec. hands.

Was at my AD yesterday purchasing the current Moonwatch Professional. The owner showed me the email from Omega about the new Speedmaster, with pics, specs and pricing. They're getting their first ones in January. What I learned was that the overall aesthetics are virtually identical (metal bracelet is the same). The larger changes are under the hood > co-axial movement with a silicon balance spring, etc. The price, however, is going up substantially. The current hesalite version, which sells for $6750 CDN at retail, is going up to just over $9000 CDN on the new model. Sorry to burst any preconceptions, but I saw it for myself in black and white on the documents.

Looks like the Hesalite version retains the printed Om'ee'ga logo and the Sapphire has the applied logo. This is either miss-information on the leak or a requirement by NASA to keep Flight Qualification. The current generation had a very long and illustrious career with NASA through the 70's, 80's and 90's so is still very relevant and one of the last great luxury tool watches.

Greek here. We actually don't say either as there is no g in our vocabulary. It is ωμέγα and the γ is another sound not found in English. Also, we do not put emphasis on the "O" but in the second syllable the "me". Great video as always. Keep up the good work!

I imagine it's likely that most of us here flick from watch channel to watch channel. I picked up the new speedy on Saturday. Sapphire sandwich Version. It’s - sophisticated? Seriously. And the tapered bracelet is outstanding. Anyway, only you watch junkies would appreciate this... I bought the speedy pro in September new from my AD AND the 38 in December from Chrono24. Was not planning to buy another (nuts) but this New iteration of the Speedmaster is outstanding. My plan is to use the speedy pro as my strap watch cycling through various NATO straps, And the new sapphire sandwich as the bracelet watch. The two complement each other. The 38 as a dress watch. That’s right a dress watch 🤗

As a former employee, both are correct and used. The one you hear the most in the company internally is the short one with the emphasis on the "O". It was also the one used by the late boss of Swatch Group. But there is already a slight difference in the "O" depending if an employee is from the Swiss German or French part. The local way to say the Greek letter is just fine.

Im a proud owner of a 1861 classic hesalite with closed solid caseback bought new in 2014 the last year they came with the small red box and I think for the time being these pieces have experienced a noticeable rebound due to the introduction of the new model but over time sure prices are going to stabilize, one little detail you missed is the word "human" in the new models caseback as opposed to the standard "manned" which I think is wrong, anyways as always good video on the subject although I missed your usual collage of landscapes especially in beautiful Venice keep it up from an italian fan of yours

My wife had thoughtfully saved me a watch review insert that had been included in a newspaper she reads. She then says to me what would I like for Christmas and I waved the review in front of her saying take your pick from some of these, the insert is accepted and I later find it chucked in the paper recycling bin. But glad I have one that’s one less step removed from the original. I love the speedy... you know you can tell a real watch enthusiast if they have a speedy pro. Great video and refreshing to see someone actually staying their opinion and not sitting on the fence. I also agree that the new one is infinitely better than this current series. For me it will however be this old question, hesalite or sapphire?

in theory (well, also in practice since Daniles himself made them so), the coaxial isn't about requiring less lubricant, but no lubricant at all! but, Omega being Omega, i.e. Swatch, of course it will need lubricant, and it will need so little that it requires special tools to apply so they can charge more money for servicing more frequently than the technology should in fact require another thing, the 861 movement isn't a "moonwatch" calibre either. nobody who went to the moon wore a watch with that calibre and that's well documented. also, the difference between the 1861 and 861 is pretty much insignificant. it's the same movement, for all intents and purposes (and both are still NASA certified for EVA work) and yeah, the likelihood of current Speedies appreciating is next to 0 'cause there's millions upon millions of them out there. plus, for A LOT of people the new one is just better in nearly every way (me included :P) OH-MEH-GA! :P

If you look at the Greek pronunciation like from Alpha et Omega, you should start with a stronger O and no eeee (maybe like Ommega), if you understand my difficult description. That's how it's pronounced in German, what is next to Swiss-German. So we think we are right and not the British people but be free ;-). I've never been more hyped about a watch...

As nice as they are, the Mirage watch rolls do not work for everybody. They are great for folks with wrist circumferences over 7 inches. Otherwise, the cushions may put too much strain on spring bars and also stretch the leather straps. My wrist is 7"1/8. I have a couple Mirage rolls and I like them a lot when it comes to how well they protect watches for travel, but I would not be comfortable storing my watches in them. Wolf rolls are more forgiving when it comes to smaller wrists.

Omayga Omeeega, Porsche Porsh, tomato Tom-a-to. Great content and I’ve had a Mirage roll for a year and it’s my absolute favourite, I’d never buy an Everest with this on the market!! First reviewer I’ve seen comment on this roll! I love the Speedy update and the leaked pics I’ve seen, that said I’m a bit of a speedy fan boy so I’m not too hard to please. I love the Daniel Craig ref haha.

Great video as always dude. As far as pronounciation goes (and i think i have mentioned it in another video of yours), you pronounced it perfectly at 14:45. That's how a Greek would pronounce it. And the intonation is actually at the "me", not at the "o". The only thing you got wrong, even though you pronounced it correctly... ;) Ps. The head of the omega pronounces it like an English man would. Doesn't mean it is right... :P

If the case has a redesign that isn’t true to the “original” moon watch, then that may change the outcome of value of the 1861 since that is more historically accurate. Otherwise, I think you are right and if I were in a position to wait, I’d probably wait for the new one. Thankfully, I already have a 1861

Thanks for this discussion. I was wondering about this new watch and the old one. I am a Big Fan of Space Technology but never could get into the design. I LOVE the new Breitling Premier B01 Chronos. They just seem like such a fresh design and they feel like casual luxury (heritage nothing like the famous "Moonwatch". Yes, I know they will drop in value but to me, they are so incredibly wearable that one would get their use out of them. PS: I was never a fan of Breitling but they have a different design that appeals...

Still got my 1989 861 Speedy and enjoy it a lot.

The leaked documents I viewed still have the 5 link bracelet style, but are at least tapered. In terms of price, there was a huge increase, at least here in Canada. Hesalite is $6750 CAD and the new one is set to be $8550 with the Sapphire at $9700.

I hit subscribe because you seem like a fun guy who can pronounce Omega properly... I'm Scottish, so maybe just rebelling on the British way, maybe it's because of physics and engineering because that's how I make my money... Anyhoo... I was in the Glasgow Omega Boutique looking at 3 watches about a year or so ago, current Seamaster in blue and silver/ grey dials and of course a Speedy. The only thing that held me back from buying a Speedy was knowing it didn't have the Master Chronometer certified co-axial movement inside, long story short, I decided to hold off and hope for a movement upgrade to hit the 4 to 5k range, since I think you could get a speedy for nearer £20k at the time with the co-axial but I'd not be too keen on wearing that to my work... I'm looking forward to buying the new one, once it's available.

The taper I'm not a fan of but deal with in other watches, but I really hope it doesn't taper so drastically. That will be a turn off for me. Very informative video as always
