I just bought a WRX non STI yesterday at my local dealer. I took the car for a test drive and I was floored how loud and fast the car is straight from factory. Best purchase I’ve made!
I just ordered a 2021 Subaru Sti same color. This is why I’m here. The car should be at the dealer any week now and I can’t wait. So watching this makes me even more excited.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed wow I haven’t seen one of your videos since I was 12. I’m 15 now and next year I can drive! This is probably the car I’m gonna get but the new c8 is nice
@@phantomjosh2148 Wow! Nice! For your first car you are choosing between 2 brand new sports cars? You saved up for them? For my first car at 16 my choice was between a 270k mile 98 subaru legacy wagon and a 150k mile mercury sable. Needless to say I chose the legacy, bought it with 1700 bucks cash that I made from mowing lawns and cutting firewood. I put 70k hard miles on it before it died from old age, abuse, and neglect. It was a good learning experience though. The Wrx Sti has been my dream car since age 13 finally making the dream a reality at 27. I hope your first car treats you well and you it. Happy motoring
I have a 2016 and its my daily and I still love driving it. Its the best part of my work day just driving to and from work. And not to mention its an absolute beast in the snow! Good review video cheers!
Thanks for sharing! Anything that puts a smile on your face while driving is the right car! Glad you are enjoying your Subaru and I'm sure it's fun in the snow!!
Just bought one and drove it home. Owned 20 cars (new and used) and I have to say, this is the best purchase yet. Very fun to drive, acceleration is great and handling is superb
A beautiful manual transmission, analog speedometer and mechanic handbrak. What else can you ask? A wonderful perfect car.And I don't have to mention quality and reliable Japanese products!
Still driving my 2011 and it brings a smile to my face every time I get behind the wheel. Only car I’ve ever kept for more than a few years. Never get bored of it!
You can tell this is a well liked vehicle by the number of views and likes in a short period of time. This car has a lot of followers. I almost bought a WRX years ago, but it wasn't the STI version. I wish I had, but what I have now serves it's purpose. Fun video to watch.
Yea it's doing pretty well! The STI is a great sedan and fun to drive! Even the WRX is a great car and I'll be reviewing one soon to see the differences! Glad you enjoyed it!
i have a 2019 STI, its the third car ive owned and i love everything about it, i've never had any issues with it and im pretty diligent with keeping my car running clean and well, there will be a lot of people shitting on STI's because of "reliability issues" but those issues come from drivers and mods that arent properly done
You make a good point about that. I know they can handle some power, but if they aren't tuned properly, and really for any vehicle, that's when it goes south! Some bolt ons and a tune could give you reliable power without going crazy!
Ordered my STI a couple of weeks ago and I’m very anxious to get it. When I test drove one at the dealer it exceeded my expectations. The one they had available did not have the wing and that’s a must.
That EJ25 is almost as old as I am now!😂 Still such a cool engine though! Love that despite the improvements they’ve made, Subaru hasn’t just engineered out all of the character and rough edges of the STI. Such a unique personality. Hope they preserve that for the next gen.
Did you order yours? If so, how long did you have to wait? I ordered a 21 sti base on March 25th. I heard subaru shut down production for the month of April due to microchip supply shortag so maybe It will still be a while.
@@ianholmquist8492 I got my 2019 STI appraised on 4/12 at the subaru dealer for the 2021 STI limited was in transit so I put a deposit on it. I took delivery on 4/26.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed thanks man I am really enjoying my car it’s the same as the one they’re using for demonstrating or advertising or for whatever all I need now is to get my windows legally tinted
I'm surprised and at the same time glad to see the black and red interior for a Subaru sedan. I've got a funny feeling that the future owner of this one will toss the lime green calipers to get red ones to match the interior.
I think this is a nice interior especially against the blue! But yeah, not sure where the green idea came from, but red would look a lot better! Fun Subaru to drive though!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I am, I was hoping to get the new 2021 from Japan. Still haven’t seen much of it and the dealership doesn’t have much info to tell either. Subaru is being hush hush. (Currently in Guam)
I'm so excited to get an STi! Would you recommend it as a second car? Also I currently drive a 2014 Sport Auto Lancer, would you know if the STi feels similar to drive/handle if you've ever driven a regular Lancer before? Can't really test drive a WRX/STi until I get on my full licence which is in about 2 years, laws are strict here in Australia, NSW. Awesome review anyways, keep it up!
The WRX is a fun car for sure, as a second car, that's up to you if you can afford that and want two vehicles! They are going to handle completely different! I've been in the lancer before and it's just like a normal sedan, the STI has completely different handling characteristics and is a lot more sporty! Glad you enjoyed the review and hopefully that helps!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed cheers for the reply, helps a lot! You mentioning it handles completely different and more sporty has gotten me even more excited, haha.
$42 grand?? Well I guess the Civic Type R is comparable- have you fellas reviewed the Charger RT? Idk Subies have always had great respect in the import world- Good review Mike!
The Civic Type R is also front wheel drive, so not as sporty as the Subaru! You get a lot of torque steer in that if you try to tune it for more power! We haven't reviewed the RT yet, but did the Scat Pack wide body! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6RV-dPQ0o7M.html
I just found a 2017 with 48k miles for $34k! When the Civic Type R was new, dealers were marking them up to $60k which was ridiculous, but they aren't close to $60k anymore.
Yep yep! Got mine in February. Love it. It is not the fastest car in a straight line (very driver dependent). But, the smiles in the corners and the old school split second turbo lag is wonderful. Running Cobb AP on HWG 91 map and logs out great with 93 pump. A lot more torque 3k up. ;).
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yeah honestly for someone that wants a minor bump in power that will not strain the motor at all (as long as maintenance/solid fuel used/ non abuse) it is a no brainer. Torque gains are are huge benefit for normal driving. Cobb ots 91 or protune it stage 1.
I think Toyota should make the Corolla GR with the same 1.6 litre three cylinder from the Yaris GR, with both the manual and the automatic. Four wheel drive for both.
I have a 2019 STI. I got an offer from Subaru for 2021 STI I couldn't refuse. The used car market is so hot right now, the amount of equity for the 2019 with almost 19k miles barely depreciated. Some notable differences for 2021 and mine are push to start, the center console head looks a lot more sturdy compared to mine which I am excited for. I believe the front vents are functional now for more cooling (yay). I learned manual on the 2019 and kept great care of it. I am sad to see it go to someone new, but so excited for the new car. I plan to modify it. One arguement people make is that they want to wait for the new motor. Why wait for potential flaws on the first gen motor when you can build your own with years of research and development in the aftermarket? It seems like a win to me, but to each their own! Great vid!
well said Christopher. I pulled the trigger on a 2021 Sti 2 weeks ago for the same reasons. 2019+ has the type RA engine upgrades too. IMHO, makes it a better "value"
For us who live in the real world, that's: 393Nm @ 4000rpm 1542kg 0-97km/h (0-100km/h) @ 4.5s 241km/h 60L fuel cap 6.8km/L - city 9.35km/L - highway 2.65m wheelbase 4.6m overall length 1.8m width 1.48m height
Real world? lol. The US is kinda the leader in the world and we use the figures I stated ;) Nothing wrong with being different. Thanks for the conversions
I wish i have one of those because of the 182 horsepower four cylinder boxer turbo engine and its made at the japaneese market. I wish someone can get one for my birthday
Me and my dad are trying to choose between this and a BMW m4. Problem is, M4 is twice the price and, living in utah, we wouldnt be able to drive in the winter much at all. Starting to lean towards this a lot more. Seems super fun and comfortable to drive. Also does very well in the winter.
The BMW M4 will be offered in AWD I believe at some point, but even with that, I think the Subaru would be a better option especially since it has a snow mode! Put on some snow tires during the winter and you have a pretty capable sedan!
Went from a 2010 sti hatch to a bran new 2018 brz RU and currently trading my brz in for 25grand trade in while ordered a 2021 wrx sti sport tech, brz was fun but nothing compared to STI back to the turbo club !
@@BrosFOURRSpeed they're listed at that and you call only for them to add 5 to 10k. I kinda refuse to buy a used car at 30 k anyways. I'll give it a few more weeks amd probably just get an sti or go cheap for an accord sport
Whichever car makes the most sense for you! I don't think I could spend that much on a Type R when the competitors are AWD and that's just FWD. It's cool, but can't hang with the STI!
I’m looking at getting one of these. I currently have a stage-4 Focus ST. Wondering if I should wait till next year to get the new model. Love the wing but that looks like automatic car washes are a no go lol, which is annoying.
Yeah this would need a touches car wash for sure. But the brushes scratch up paint, so you shouldn't go in those anyways. I'm not too sure on the pricing for the new STI. But they will probably be a nice update. If you enjoy your car no harm in waiting until it's out
Just bought and drove home a 2021 sti. Managed to snag one of these new at msrp. All I can say is.. ive had about 20 cars and this car being the most fun overall
I just sold my 2017 FiST because I got nearly what I paid for it. Put it all towards a 2021 WR Blue Sti. Loving it!!!!!!!! Never run your car through an auto car wash-yikes!
I just wish that most of the Subaru WRX and STi models to sti have the traditional twist key ignition. If it is alright to ask, is a WRX a good car to learn manual on please?
After daily driving a base wrx for the last 4 years I feel qualified to say that no, it is not. It was my 3rd MT car and by far the most difficult to get used to. My brother is learning to drive manual and he can drive most of them fine but not my wrx. And I struggled with it at first. Trading in for a 21 wrx sti. The sti trans is as easy and satisfying as the wrx trans is sloppy and annoying. Hope this helps. As far as best stock MT to learn on, I would recommend any Honda. The sti is great for sure and pretty bulletproof though could be a bit tricky starting out. I learned in a civic. Say what you like about honda, they do make an easy to drive manual. Definitely try before you buy though because everyone's preferences are a bit different.
You'd prefer the traditional turn key over push button? I like how it has keyless entry which you won't get with the turn key! Either way, the Subaru is a cool sedan!
I can see that somewhat. It's crazy to see how quick the bite point is on this clutch. I liked it and when I drove my R8 home after this, was weird to get used to that afterwards! I said it was easy because of how light feeling it was, but didn't really think about the bit point, I'm sure newbies would be stalling it quicker, but could still be a great car to learn on if a friend has one. But personal preference is a big factor for sure!!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yes indeed,, that's interesting as well.. the clutch and trans on the wrx sti is night and day better than the wrx. I test drove an sti and I instantly had to have it, mainly for that reason. You have an R8? Nice, those cars are amazing and sound beautiful.
@@ianholmquist8492 thank you for the tip! Will definitely test the car put first to see if I like it and if it is something I'd be comfortable with as well :)
I just bought a Subaru WRX STI 2021 in September from the dealership and I am curious... Is it normal for the car to do a creaking nose when you steer all the way to the left or right while backing out of a parking spot or taking off in first gear. I just bought this car and it's interesting it would have a creaking noise as if the cv joints were already worn out or something when it's supposed to be a brand new car.
The Genesis Coupe was a fun car for sure. We owned two of them back in the day. This is pretty on par tho in performance stock for stock. But with mods both car can get pretty quick
I’ve always liked the WRX STI. Seems like a fun car. But that rear wing is a little too much! Wish they’d lower it about five inches. It just looks way too high.
Had to watch to see if I wanted one, nah I'll keep my 05 all day lol this is a Honda Accord Type R with a Subaru badge. Subaru dropped the ball after 2014.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed my car right now is a 2017 Ford Focus with the dct. It’s quick but not fast like the sti. (Non turbo) but it can go through all gears and pull real hard if done right.
I got a 21 WRX in Pure Red with the Kicker Speaker Upgrade and the STI throw shifter and the Vortex Generator. Next is the exhaust system and some rays wheels
Just sold my 2012 STi hatchback - considering this, a Type R, a GR Yaris or a Veloster N DCT. Considering that since the VN PP isn't available locally in my country and I'd still have to import it, the price comes out to equal both my three other options. Any thoughts?
@@AndyDufresne4 Driving the car like normal is fine for a break in, not redlining or anything crazy. You can drive a manual easy for the break in period…still not seeing what you mean.
Because in a manual so can shift between whichever gears you choose! There’s no order in a manual. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vx6vgKPFugs.html
Is Subaru still making the 2021 model? I just tried purchasing one but because the 2022 model just premiered they might of stopped production on these. I'm waiting for them to contact me about whether I can get one or not. I really hope I can because I do not like the 2022 model it's a horrible design and with cheap plastic all over.
I feel like production probably is about done. Not sure tho. Hopefully they get back with you soon! The 2022 looks like a Crosstrek with those flares. Not a fan either
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Subaru just got back to me and told me they were not able to create my customized 2021 because they were not producing them anymore due to the new 2022. Instead they gave me options of what's already coming to them (last ones). He told me he would reserve it for me to check it out, but it's not limited like I wanted it. I'll check it out, but i'm not totally convinced. Looks like Subaru will lose this customer for their failure to produce something good 2022. I'm gonna purchase a Toyota truck instead.
As long as you have a good record, take the highest deductible and pay in full. It should t bee too much. But you're young, so that can only help so much.
2019+ rec'd some of the type RA upgrades: new ecu tune, 3rd gear revision, a more free flowing exh sys, "upgraded" pistons, revised intake, & sodium filled exh valves.
Why not? In a manual you can skip gears. I was at my cruising speed, no need to go into 5th just to go right into 6th. When you downshift you don't always go into consecutive gears. Beauty of a stick ;)
They omitted the intercooler sprayer this particular MY, you can see the blank button on the dash front panel. No bronze BBS wheels. I’m tempted but......I’m not committed. Maybe yes, maybe no for me.
It’s limited to 174mph top speed but that’s not why you buy the car 😂 also idk why anyone says 0-60 times in manual cars anymore lol. If the time is 4.5 a new driver can maybe do it in 6. Maybe travis pastrana can do it 4 flat who knows 😅
After filming this I found the top speed at 174, I said the WRX number for that, but I just state the 0-60 from what the manufacture says, it will vary depending on whose driving for sure!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VRxl2wZPjls.html Heres a vid we made comparing this to the Audi S3. I think the STI rides fine. Not as comfortable as the Audi. You'd think the Golf R would be the same as the Audi tho since it's the same car underneath. But the S3 with magnetic ride is noticeable more comfortable than this. In Dynamic mode feels about the same as this.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The R is awful, short wheelbase and super stiff, on the Canadian winter roads its horrific. I'll check out your other videos though thank you
I'm not sure about that, but I don't think I've seen an STI without the recaros. I didn't see the seatbelts as an option either so I think that's standard.
Normally the 500 miles should be driven under 4k rpm. Like I did on the test drive. Then the next 500 I get a bit more aggressive. After that doesnt really matter
I know right! I know a lot of people are wanting that for the BRZ, the 2022 model will have an increase in power, but it's not what the buyers are looking for!
