I have an '02 Busa (silver & grey) with 122,000 miles on it. So yeah pretty durable/ reliable. I am not upgrading but rather supplementing it with a silver Gen 3 . Great review. You & TMF have the best style of review. Thx.
@@Ritalie Zero. Still on original clutch. I have replaced the clutch slave cylinder. Stainless hydraulic lines. A metric ton of tires & brakes. Normal maintenance per Suzuki's schedule. Regular 10-40 Honda or Suzuki oil ( not synthetic or semi ).
Nice review, you're possibly my favourite now. I love your safe riding, and safety catchphrase. Like many, i lost quite a few friends when i was young, and it's so not worth it. Ride safe and enjoy, and live to ride another day.
Great review. I think Suzuki have really nailed it with this bike. Subtle upgrades bringing it bang up to date. Love the instruments and the colour combination looks amazing.
It's weird because the 2nd Gen already has insane low end torque that is almost scary and rips your arms off. The engine was already known for being more torque down low than anything in it's class. I can't imagine MORE torque. I mean jeeeeeze.
Absolutely gorgeous bike. And Suzuki chose its own style which is unique and harmonious, with samurai sword carved precision lines. The whole bike just exudes magnificence and luxury, and the review did not fail to pick up on that. There is no other one style wise, even close. I would replace slipons with Akrapovic to cut on weight considerably. # 1 bike on my list. Thank you for the review.
The stock pipes are uglier on the 3rd Gen. But on the 2nd Generation bike the aftermarket pipes do not look good. The stock pipes are part of the body lines and the curves of the bike. And if you take the stock pipes off on the 2nd or 3rd Generation bike, you ruin the unique look and the soul of the bike. The designers intentionally shaped the mufflers to be artwork. Luckily the aftermarket mufflers for the Gen 3 are absolutely stunningly beautiful. The 2nd Gen has absolutely beautiful stock mufflers that are the perfect length and color and they match the body lines absolutely perfect. Once you change the stock mufflers on a 2nd Gen bike, the entire rear half of the bike looks out of place.
I think it's so beautiful. Glad Suzuki kept the iconic profile. Too bad it lost 8 miles per gallon. I wonder if aftermarket exhaust and mapping could reclaim some fuel milage?
Love the camera equipment you use, razor sharpe definition. Not sure how you achieve that, I think it must be a top of the range Go Pro. What a lovely machine especially the instrument panel. As always a very enjoyable informative video. Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback, it's nice to hear what you guys think! On the bike it's gopro hero9 with the Max Lens mod for super stable video and the 360 cameras (2 of them) are the gopro Max. Off the bike it's 2 Samsung S20's. take care, Scott
You have some of the BEST videos. I enjoy all of your reviews. I had the old Busa and I am thinking of getting this to go beside my 3R 2020. Two superb bikes!
Always a real pleasure watching your reviews. Great job ! You had a big smile when presenting this Hayabusa :) Good to remind us that we can have a big smile without purchasing the "so-called" premium brand !
The 2nd Generation Hayabusa has so much torque and the gears are so short on the highway, it's absolutely ridiculous. But 1st gear is suppppppper tall. You can accelerate hard from 2300 rpms onward, and at 3500rpm it begins pulling extremely hard and never stops pulling hard. The high RPM flow of the 2nd Gen head is absolutely insane because the engine continues to pull all the way to redline and never shows any sign of actually signing off. I pray they put taller 5th and 6th ratios on the 3rd Gen.
The best German Review, even if its not in german language! :D A lot of Heart, a lot of Soul, nice and chilling Humor! No Influencer Advertising Trash Talk like 1000PS, honest and very nice Review. Thanks for that! After all the crappy Tests from Germany or Austria, this is a fantastic Review.
Another great review! Like some others, this bike is not for me, but I love and respect them. I am really curious to see what an exhaust swap with a ecu tuning is going to do to these. Only a matter of time before some people here in the US get a hold of them and start putting them on the dyno. The Euro emissions are ready stupid and do more harm than good. SMH
And I can confirm that in 2021 I am buying probably the last remaining 2020 ZZR 1400 Performance Sport available in Europe. Sure it doesn't have all the electronic bells and whistles of the Bussa, but not is it Euro 5 compliant. I have to admit the release of the Gen3 had me worried my bike may loose it's Crown, fortunately Suzuki have allowed it to remain King.
Please try one. My gen 1 is a similar weight but the bike is so low that it's a delight to be on, whether city traffic or distance riding. This version really has my attention because it has decent brakes.
I love the looks of the bike and the dash is very nice. Bit of an ox (very fast). I do like the Suzuki reliability but I'd rather get something like the KTM SDGT for sports touring. Cheers
Very good review again. Thx for the video :) I just got the 2023 model. Brakes are incredibly good after 1000 km. Both front and rear. I compare it to gen3 fjr and 2019 cbr1000rr sp.
If bike makers are sacrificing K(M)PG for slightly lower emissions, it's a total waste of time. The emissions tests are static. Obviously, less range per litre (20% for the Busa), means that more, not less, toxic chemicals are going into the atmosphere. Lots of Euro 5 bikes are worse in terms of range. Which makes the whole thing a nonsense.
So true I've been saying that for years. Surely mpg is more important. As an example, clean burn Range Rover Vs Ford Fiesta that does 4x the mpg but Fiesta road tax is more expensive?
Yes, in two weeks I'll have the second service done, 10,000km service. I'll make a video, any problems/issues/complaints...etc. Spoiler alert, no problems as of yet, just nitpicks, I actually was hoping to have some problems to report cause it would get more views but it's been a faithful companion and has never even given me paus to worry about anything. 😢 But that is really a good thing 😁 take care, Scott
Hey Scott, you have something we all dream of - Autobahn without speed limit! 🤤 Can you include, if it safe ofcourse, how fast can bike travel comfortably on Autobahn? 🤓 Like going really fast and tell when vibration starts and wind affects etc. 🤔 Thanks
sounds amazing .. tail section bulky and hideous... your review PERFECT.. and you reply to comments thoroughly with information and care and honesty .. great👌✌
@@davidhobson7851 Because I ride all year, commuting as well as pleasure, spending most of my time in traffic. There are much cheaper and better bikes for the daily grind than the Busa.
Well, that depends on age. See when I was 30, touring on this was not a problem but now in my 50s, it is a problem for me mainly wrists/back/neck/knees. One can tour on any machine, if age and comfort is not important 🤣😁
Hi Scott, good review, love your videos. I myself ride a zzr1400 Performance Sport, pity they are now stopping production. Have you ridden the last edition?
Positives: Colour scheme and the dash with old style clocks and TFT in the middle. Really nice. As you say good job Suzuki. This new iteration in black and gold looks the business. Negatives: Shame they didn't go full Brembo brakes and with twin pistons on the rear. I guess cost cutting. Significantly reduced fuel economy to comply with Euro 5 not so good either. You started with an autobahn clip as a teaser but then didn't return to it? Maybe because it was a brand new bike?
No, the wind noise was just too much to take, I had quite a few minutes of me talking while on the Autobahn, doing 250kmh, but couldn't really understand what I was saying with all the wind noise, so I decided to leave it out of the video 😢 And doing a voice over in post, just did not convey the excitement that I was feeling at the time...so the footage got axed. take care Alex, Scott
@@NothingToProve Thanks for your reply Scott. Probably for the better then, although riding at 250kmh on new tyres was ok or had you scrubbed them in by then? I am interested in this new Hayabusa as I still have a mint very low mileage Blackbird and dream of the day that Honda decide to resurrect it and bring it bang up to date, but in all seriousness this is never ever going to happen. So I'm interested in this new Hayabusa if only because I still have a Blackbird which is pretty old tech now from a previous era and king before the Hayabusa came out and stole it's crown. Of course as you mention there are others like the Kawasaki H2 and ZZR 1400. Would you even include the BMW 1250RT as well? Anyway thanks for your reply and review.
Very nice video as usual... the one thing I want to critizise is the resolution. Not too noticable at the beginning, I realized at the gauge part, about 10 minutes/ 10.30, that it looks quite blurry, like maybe 720p, although the video is still in 4K. I checked back at the beginning, and the resolution doesn't get better than around 1080p. Does the recording device not produce the full 4K?
Hi, i follow your videos becouse my wife ride bmw f900xr (and me Suzuki GSXS 1000). So, you are the perfect person for this question: what is comfort on Hayabusa vs f900xr for 1,8 m tall person?
Well, the 900XR is a sport/touring bike, so the riding position is up-right and the Busa is a sport bike, so it's a tucked sport position. The XR is the bike for anyone wanting to ride longer than 1 hour...like me, after one hour on this bike I wanted to get off it, after 1 hour on the XR, I'm just getting warmed up for a 10 hour ride :)
@@NothingToProve Thanks for info from first hand. I asumed something like that. I just donnt wonna have 2 of f900xr. For wife is f900xr perfect but for me is 1000 4 cylinder perfect. So, Ninja 1000sx or BMW s1000xr will be in game. They are not a lot of sport touring 4-cylinders on the market.
Other bikes you may want to consider too (but they are both 2 cylinder): KTM 1290GT, BMW 1250RS. The problem today is that Adventure bikes are slowly replacing sport/touring bikes. Gone away are the: Honda VFR1200, Yamaha FJR1300, just to name 2 over the last 10 years :( But you might be able to find a "left-over" Honda or Yamaha if you look for them. Good luck, Scott
@@NothingToProve I totally agree. KTM is not a option due to dillership network in my region. And BMW 1000xr and 1250 RS is something that I will take a demo ride this sommer. Ride like nothing to pove!
Excellent real world review. An intriguing motorbike though weight and reduced MPG give me pause. Not that fuel economy should be a priority on a ‘Busa😚. How would you rate overall comfort?
Thank you Paul. The comfort, well, there isn't much to speak of...a typical sport bike "tucked" position. But if you are used to that then it's great :) I'm not any more :( take care, Scott
I'm not sure I understand your question. But I am a "one man show", no one else is with me when I film a review. So yes I do all the camera work, setting up, pressing the record button on each camera...etc. take care, Scott
I've tried several times last year, I think more than 6 times, but I'm "not big enough" for Ducati to grace me with one of their bikes. That sounds like sarcasm but it's not, just the truth. ride safe, Scott
I don't know exactly how the pricing works over on your side... I live just a few miles away from Rosenau PowerSports in Dearborn Heights Michigan... They are wanting $24.379 and some change for a Hayabusa... I asked him how do you come up with that price because the bike lists for $18,599/they told me set up fee, destination charge and they are pricing in a premium charge for covid🤣🤣🤣 I don't understand how Suzuki allows them to do this! I kept doing more research to find a decent dealership... I'm going to have to go 325 miles out of my way for the Hayabusa, but I am getting it for $19,136 with tax, plates,registration... It is a christian-owned Suzuki powerhouse dealer/they do not charge destination fees or set up fees/also they do not believe in taking advantage of people for covid 👍🏻
Yea, I've been to Rosenau many times & to the Honda dealer in Canton, it's for that same reason that I drove down to Toledo OH. to get my Honda Blackbird back in 2002 & went back to the same dealer for a Kawasaki Ninja later. Among my motorcycle riding buddies there, Rosenau was never an option, you only went there to see what a bike looks like, never to actually buy a bike. 😒 take care and enjoy the Busa, Scott
@@NothingToProve Thank you for your feedback Brother/I had a 2001 Blackbird and I wish I would have never sold it... Is there any chance I could get the name of that dealership in Toledo? You got to be living a lot better over in Germany than we are in the states... Sleepy Joe Biden is destroying everything!
@@NothingToProve I almost forgot to tell you, I called Suzuki and told them about Rosenau trying to price gouge/he told me he was going to send somebody into their store to pretend to buy a Hayabusa ,to see what happens and then if they try to price gouge his employee he is going to penalize them... I told the regional rep everything and he said he would see what he could do for me on top of the price I am already getting from Georgetown Kentucky 325 miles😂😅 away
@@Super020469 LOL! Yea, he's even managed to tax me while over here in Germany. As of June 2021 he is instating a tax on all youtubers getting views from U.S. citizens, no matter where you are from. U.S. citizen or not. So if you are not a U.S. citizen he's managed to tax you. My German & U.K. buddies over here are a little pissed off to say the least. And they complain to me all the time that now they are paying the Germany/English tax and American tax too and they are not even American!
@@NothingToProve Dam🤣🤣🤣Sleepy Joe going international... Yeah he screwed everything up over here... I usually like swinging and scalping stocks, but the market has not give him a warm welcome 😂
Well, Honda coined the phrase "open class GT" back in 1996 with the introduction of the Blackbird. Meaning no rules apply to anything on the bike, un-like the 600cc & 1000cc class. Honda was first then Kawasaki with the ZX12R & ZX14R then this in 1999. take care, Scott
Timestamp: 12:15. Puzzled, he ask is it worth it?? Just what else can you ride in comfort & safety this FAST at 299 km/hr under $20K? A McLaren, Porsche, Ferrari?
I was "puzzled" because I was asking if you already have the previous gen and is it worth upgrading to the new? Now that's a good question that each of us need to ask ourselves. 👍😁
Until you ride one, then your whole perception would change immediately:) you can’t even begin to imagine how comfortable it is to ride. I was so blown away I bought one right on the sport even though I was there to see a CBR1000R , signed the paperwork and went home with the Busa , no regrets, I traded my new MT10 for it, man this bike makes the MT10 feel like a toy- seriously- if you want power, and sophisticated refinement Busa gen3 will be a real eye opener
@@johnnygorena5318 I believe you... I had two of the previous gens. I am now on a new V4S Streetfighter and also bought a KTM Superduke R.... I'm done with the forward riding position... gettin tooo old now! Enjoy the Busa and blessings to you!
I have never understood these three power outtakes on my second generation Hayabusa from soft to all power. Why ride it if you dont want all the power.
My issue with it is all the extra plumbing and the fact that this bike has rubber lines. I'd rather have better simpler brakes than ABS but if we're gonna have it put some proper lines and charge 500 more.
