I also love the sound of that DD5 Engine

The C2 is a great looking bus. I would like to see a bit of an update in the coming years, but they’re still sleek. And yea, the DD5 sounds so good. The video doesn’t do the best conveying the true sound over, but it’s nice.

I love it! And it lasts longer in such a large vehicle. Some of our 2020s and 2019s even still have the new bus smell

@@CMLayton88 what that’s crazy bro I’m riding bus 805 as my spare right in is smell brand new in is got the dd5 engine in it Detroit badass in my bus route is 796 because somebody was driving my actual bus field trip that’s why but men that dd5 sounds really quiet in is so fucking smooth like bus 796 that bus has the 8.8 propane gas liter v8 🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩👍🏻so bus 805 mite be my bus route in this year is a 2022 Thomas safetlinerc2 🤩🤩👍🏻👍🏻

We do this to any of our BN buses because if we go to New York or New Jersey with trips, they require four on each side. This way we don’t get a fine.

That is awesome they require 4 I did not know that. I wish I had 4 on my bus. My bus driver always let me test the exit windows because I was the first one on in the afternoon in high school lol. Take care I’m loving the vids

There is one that is for the main communication system and then the other is for the school specific radio.

I thought 1 was for the mic to the school bus speaker where you could talk to the kids without having to get up

No School Buses Don’t Have All Wheel Drive

I do think that you can get one with four-wheel drive for harsh climates, but I have personally never seen one

@@CMLayton88 I don't remember riding on any school bus with all wheel drive.

Thatbusdude Currently our oldest would be 2008 being used as spares mostly.

@@CMLayton88 So no more FS-65s it seems? I photographed a whole bunch of Rohrer FS-65s and C2s at a high school about six years ago. The oldest ones I saw were 2001s.

Yeah, all of our FS-65s have been retired and sold or scrapped. It’s safe because of them we’re still strong, but I believe there are tear restrictions for the districts

We pretty much just use C2’s now. We have a few IC-CEs that we use as spares, but most of them we got rid of.

So the LED 8-way lights are an option. And not only just LED, but you can also choose a steady flash like normal or even a strobing LED 8-way. Pretty neat!

In the summer it’s pretty close, but it was also just sitting in direct sunlight which increases the temperature display.

It’s just not really needed or required in any of the districts we contract out to. Our Special Needs buses get AC along with the vans, but that’s it. Now we do have some new ones on the lot that have AC on them that customers can order, and it can be installed as aftermarket. I’ll check out what we have for School Buses with AC. Otherwise, just our charter buses have AC in them.

CMLayton88 I like how the DD5 sounds compared to the Cummins. I wish that these were more common in C2s. I wish that ic would use these and rebrand them as their “DT”

Also is the DD5 an in-line 6 or a four cylinder engine?

Well, I know my dealership is only using DD5 and ordering DD5 for the sales lot. The only way to get a Cummins now would be by order.

We get the DD5 four cylinders. They’re still pretty powerful!

Oh yes! It got fueled. That’s just how it was from coming up from NC and being detailed.
