@keinanvivian4089 2 года назад
I'm pretty sure the 2022 went through a weight loss program from 2021 as well. Between the turbo v6 and more aluminum panels leaving even more of a disadvantage on tire grip. Not always, but a V6 typically has less low-end power and torque that a V8 does which can make a difference
@jkfox88

@@keinanvivian4089 they weigh just about the same. But the 22 clocks in almost 100 pounds heavier. So I doubt weight is an issue. And regardless of weight or where the power is, it's traction that matters. Plenty of videos of the science of how dumb this test is. It proves nothing. @@jkfox88 appreciate the response man. I haven't read in very much about the new Toyotas. Just speculating additional factors based on the trend that other manufacturers have done already. I remember Engineering Explained doing a video talking about an F150 and a Tesla Cybertruck doing this exact thing on video. And why it proves nothing. If you haven't seen it, check it out. @hunterdan2002
@hunterdan2002 2 года назад
@@rebelcitysports1outlook186 honestly, the best thing about 8 and 10 speed transmissions is that they can have a much lower first gear than the old 6 speed could have ever dreamed of. This allows for a taller final drive ratio (3.31 instead of 4.30) to maximize fuel economy, without killing Low end power. So, while the newer truck may have a taller final drive, I'm betting it actually has a better first gear crawl ratio than the old truck with the 4.30s. Meaning, it'll put power to the ground more efficiently. Also, the older truck had aftermarket wheels and tires (probably wider and taller, so more grip than the factory trash tires in the new truck. So, I short, tug of wars don't mean shit. You could put a little 20hp tractor on the other end and with the right gearing and traction, it would have drug either truck around all day without sweating.
@ALMX5DP
@ALMX5DP 2 года назад
@@hunterdan2002 yup, i checked the numbers a while back when they were released. The new truck does have more aggressive lower gears while still having better overdrive gears for highway fuel economy. What I've found is most all brands will sell their brand new vehicles with the "cheapest" crappiest tires only for the buyer to change them out years, maybe months later. I bought my '10 dakota (3.7l v6, rwd) in '13 with 21k miles (sold her so my family could afford moving from OR to AZ). Not long after did I replace the Goodyear wrangler SRAs with bridgestone revo 2s, those were some fun tires and were definitely more capable tires year-round. :)

The 2023 handles my trailers much better . Not as much downshift and the electronics for towing really helps. Not much difference in the fuel mileage towing but a couple miles per gallon empty. Spent an extra 3500 dollars and bought a 150,000 mile Toyota extended warranty. Peace of mind for a long time. Also had one on my 2020 model. Nothin like a natty aspirated 5.7L V8 that can do the job. One thing to take in mind that the 22 Tundra had an advantage because it was 4x4 while the old gen tundra was 4x2 rwd. This goes to show don’t mess with a V8 😤
@SSMedic
@SSMedic 2 года назад
if you think the engine had anything to do with this test then you are incredibly unintelligent. They were both in 2wd, the new tundra is lighter with smaller tires (by the looks of it, the older tundra had aftermarket tires). The engine doesn't decide these tug of wars, rather weight and traction. Both trucks were spinning their tires so both had adequate torque and horsepower, it came down to weight and tires.
