I've just bought one and love it! I've had so many bikes (too many) over the years of all types - bar sports. For me, there's just something about the T100 which transcends every one of them. Changes for 2021 65 PS (64 bhp) - up 18% Brembo front calliper All black engine ( but with the usual machined detail on the fins ). Black wheel rims Relocated reg/rectifier (nicely hidden now behind the radiator) Two riding modes "Road" and "Rain" - I leave mine on Road mode. The fit and finish are something else! I was worried about the black paint (mudguards and side panels) scratching the first time I washed it - like every single Japanese bike I've had and no matter how careful I am - but the paintwork on the T100 is especially hard. Just one issue with mine was an oil leak from the cam cover which took two visits to cure. They replaced the cam cover itself at the second attempt which cured it. First service cost was just £56 and is for parts - the dealer supplied the labour FOC.

That’s great to hear! Sounds like you’ve found your perfect bike in all aspects. They really are outstanding aren’t they. Have you not been tempted with the T120 at all ?

Edit: My T100 doesn't have switchable TC modes either. Your other commentor was quite correct. It displays "Road" but there is no function button to change it. I was getting confused with the Street Twin which I've also test ridden 🙄. I did test ride the T120 a couple of years ago but found it felt a little heavy. Also, the extra power was wasted for my needs. The T100 is much more fun. The five speed box is perfectly matched to this package. At an indicated 75 mph the motor is very unstressed at 4k rpm. The sixth gear of the T120 allows similar "cruising" above 80. But sat bolt-upright on a classic motorcycle this is unsustainable and not really the point anyway. For some, the extra power and torque of the T120 is a "nice to have" but I prefer a bike with which I can use 50-85% of it's capability rather than 25-50% as I felt would be the case for me with the 1200. Each to his own of course so there's no wrong answer here but for me the T100 is the perfect sweet spot for my needs now I'm older and wiser. Pillion comfort too is perfectly adequate and doesn't dent performance too much. Economy is great with an average over 60 mpg two-up and only 600 miles on the clock so far.

It’s great that you are very happy with your T100 it’s good to hear! I’m yet to ride the T120 so stay tuned. Thanks for your valued comments take care Jake.

@@RiderReviews Ironically the extra braking efficiency of the 120 thanks to the twin front disc set up adds quite a bit of unsprung weight to the front which - for me spoils the handling a little making it a bit slow to turn in. It'll be great to watch your review when you've chance to ride one 👍

@@PhilipBallGarry Pretty much what I feel as well. I have a pristine condition restored 1973T140V and have had several Triumphs over the years, I LOVE the classic look and feel. However, with a new left hip and right knee and wishing to achieve the Advanced Rider award, the T140V suddenly seems eclipsed by these "youngsters" I am not tall, so the T100 seems suitable, I appreciate the extra refinements of the T100, plus its a bit more nimble that the T120 apparently. my use will be mostly urban riding around Norwich area, the T140V can do the serious trips I suppose. Great reviews, thanks so much for that. I will probably buy a new T100 within the next month, moving house first! I will no doubt report back, Liam

I swapped my XSR900 for the 2017 T100 last weekend. Felt painful initially to say the Yamaha goodbye, but the riding experience on the Bonnie is so much more relaxed and the sound is awesome!

Not ridden mine much since late October but I fancied a blast last Saturday. I usually bimble about around 50mph just enjoying the torque below 5k rpm. But I slid myself back on the seat and got a bit more "commited" for a change. I was reminded yet again what a great bike the T100 is and surprised at how well it goes when pushing on a bit. Hanging onto each gear for a change instead of short shifting - exploring the upper regions of the revs. When you've not ridden in a while even 64bhp feels plenty. I wasn't out long due to the cold but it certainly blew the cobwebs away 😁😁😁👍

Hope they have sorted the wiring issues on the new models. My 2018 Triumph had a complete new wiring harness with 1200 miles on clock.

Very good review and nice to see under the seat too - a lot of reviewers forget to include that. Familiar roads for me there as I often go through Watton on my way to Two Wheel Tuesday at the Ox & Plough, Old Buckenham. Also, where you did that walk around at Hingham S&S Club, they've just started Wednesday Wheelers bike nights.

This bike is yours? So, if it is, you’re a fortunate man! You’ve one of the most iconic street bikes. A classic will be always a keeper. To go everywhere in style! Of course it is easy to ride and the weight? You don’t notest it on the fly. Marvelous vehicle mate. If it is not yours, you’ve to get one👍🏻👍🏻 I am a fan of everything that is well made and here Triumph undoubtedly nailed it. They have the black Matt one but I like the green goldline 2022 Edition. Mine doesn’t come with the passenger grab rail but I’m gonna get it as well. Nice video mate . The only thing you have in England is the not so nice weather for bike riding but I tell you. I have admiration for your British strength, besides the rain and low temperatures you love riding on two wheels , and that is something else!✌️✌️

I just put another 125 miles on mine around the Yorkshire Dales, loving every minute of it and it's now just over half way towards its first service after two weeks ownership. The only niggle is clattering forks when going over really poor road surfaces, I intend putting some progressive springs in them, but none of the suppliers have any prepared for this bike as it is so new. Hagon said to call back in six months time and they should have them on the shelf by then. Does anyone know of a supplier that might have any ready yet ?

Nice review of what looks like it’s going to give the T120 a good run for its money with the extra 10 BHP. I started counting how many times you say ‘i believe ‘. I believe it’s in the thousands.....

No Riding modes on the T100, I have just bought one myself. Only thing I am going to change are the rear shocks for a pair of Hagon 2810's
@PhilipBallGarry
@PhilipBallGarry 3 года назад
I've found the standard shocks to be ok now I've a few miles on - slightly underdamped. Increasing the preload one notch specifically for pillion has also improved the ride a bit too. That said, Hagon do sell better replacements (as you've said) for a very reasonable cost (vs the "Fox" branded Triumph affairs which are a whopping £800!

I like it Triumph seem to have really nailed the design / looks of their bikes these days. This one not as my only bike and I feel with the weight maybe twin discs on front personally not keen on the old pea shooter silencers so would change them but for me it's a big yes. Hey why not do the big twin range if poss always had fours but I want to have a twin too these days don't know why ! cheers : )
@RiderReviews
@RiderReviews 3 года назад
Hi Malcolm yes the Triumph range has a bike to suit pretty much everyone tbh and all of high quality too nowadays. I quite liked the look and sound of those pea shooter style standard exhausts, however there are plenty of aftermarkets to choose from they offer some lovely black Arrow pipes. Was looking at hopefully testing the 1200 Speedmaster at some point so stay tuned. Take care Jake.
@PhilipBallGarry

The front brakes I find completely adequate considering the use case for this particular bike. That said, the four pot calliper on the Street Twin is quite a bit better. Considering the ST is the lighter bike they might have got this the wrong way round?

I live in the states where we have many divded highways and the speed limits are 70 mph. I usually run about 65 MPH and if somebody behind me want to go faster, they can pass whenever they want. That being said, I am always looking at the RPM of the engine at these speeds. You said the RPM at 50 was about 2600, so I assume that at 65 MPH the RPM would be about 3200. Thank you for sharing this information, a lot of reviews do not. This video is a very nice review of the Bonneville T100, and it is all the motorcycle I would need....but..... I do not like the "brushed exhaust" (love the peashooters in chrome) and I do not like the black wheels. I hate to spend more money just to get chrome exhaust and polished wheels, but I think they look better. There is one mistake in your video, the Bonneville engine has dual overhead camshafts. It is a really neat design with a very short timing chain running a gear in the center of the cylinder head. The front of this gear runs the exhaust camshaft while the rear of this gear runs the intake camshaft. Nice and simple and the short chain means less trouble even after many mnay miles. (or Kilomters). Thanks again for this video. Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

nice review. I allways wonder in Bonnnie videos whats exactly the point of a hand painted line? I like Triumph for their build quality and details/finish... but everyone is mentioning this handpainted line. Like you would stand in front of the bike and say aaaah yes thats handpainted!!! :D
@RiderReviews
@RiderReviews 2 года назад
Thanks! Yes it’s triumphs personal touch In the UK it’s usually signed ‘GAZ D’ under the front seat where it meets the fuel tank. I think there’s only five other tank hand painters around the globe Trained by this chap. Take care Jake.

You say you dont like the mirrors....then 30secs later say they are good? So glad I got on of the last of 2020 before the new model came in with black wheels....black engine. How can it possible be a retro Bonnie any more....black wheels.....for gods sake. I would never have bought my T100 in 2020 new if it was like this new model.

Oh come on now! I still consider mine a "Classic" black wheels and all. But hey, we're all different. Shame they ditched the fork gaiters though, the T100 has always had them through the years 😔. I do appreciate the extra 10 horses too.
