In one of your videos you questioned about rear wheels locking up and wanted to know if anyone had similar proble. I just found the answer, it is a safety feature...Duff D81 Duff D81 1 month ago The wheels locking is a safety future for mowing on a hill, say you slip on an up hill grade, that won’t allow the mower to roll back onto you. My gas powered does that to. Usually just push it forward a bit and it releases so you can pull it backwards.

Thanks Wyatt, yes the high lift blade will provide some really good suction but I would recommend using your bag if your grass hasn't been cut and it's long, it really doesn't do a good job mulching.

I have both of the mowers in this video demo.Both have their mulch "gator" blades on them.I mulch-don't use the grass catcher.The Select cut XP 10Ahr and 8.3 motor goes thru ANYTHING on my yardpine cones,pine straw,and pine tree twigs.Have a lot of those in East North Carolina.So my mowers act as disposers as well as mowers.Like those cross blades-FAR better than the Greenwork and Kobalt mowers.Also have the Z6 ride mower-use that on the front and side areas of the lawn-handles the twigs and pine cones-no problem.VERY powerful.The Z6 is like TWO XP mowers at once.The XP mowers I use in back-the gate in my fence not wide enough for the Z6.LOVE my EGOS!!!!!!Two came from Lowes-the XP from Ace Hardware.

Should have showed the leaf pickup after one pass with no backing up. We have to bag our leaves for village pickup. I first mulch the leaves (plug inplace), then on the second pass use the bag. Yes it leaves fine cut up leaves in the grass, but still picks up the excess. Problem with only bagging don't get much in a leave bag when the leaves are mostly not chopped. But when the leaves are first mulched then sucked up, get 10x more leaves in a bag although will be heavier. I also would have used the same blades in each.

I find 3 to be the sweet spot for leaves with my Greenworks mower. Plus that turbo over ride seems to help a lot. I think ego needs to add that feature to their mowers. Looks like they did a hell of a job on the clean up though! Another fantastic demonstration video from you. I salute you! 🖖. I also thing Greenworks needs to make a high lift blade.

Great review! Would love to see a video of you mulching the leaves first to reduce their volume/ size and then go back over the lawn again using the bagger. This is what I do to my lawn in the fall. Seems to get up almost all the leaves and the pieces of leaves that remain on the lawn are so small they make excellent mulch! I don't see much difference between the high lift blade and the mulch blade results, just my observation not to mention the hassle and time to change from one blade to the other.
@TechMadeEzy
@TechMadeEzy Год назад
Thank you all honesty if you're going to do something like that using the high lift blade with the bag on it usually does a pretty good job of sucking them right into the bag. I will tell you using a mulching blade won't make a big difference because it doesn't cut the leaf down too much if anything it'll probably make a mess on the lawn

How can you compare results when you have 2 different blades? Pretty simple that a high lift will pick up more than a mulch blade.

Exactly! I don't understand why he didn't use the same blade type in both machines. All things being equal, I'd hope the newer mower model with a slightly stronger motor would do better, but there is really no way to know because he didn't actually test this.

I would have liked to see a one-pass cut and see how that worked before you backed up over the first pass....i don't know if it makes a huge difference but i think the suction of the mower works better while going forward.....the rotation of the blade and the forward edge cutting shoots the clippings in the right direction to go into the bag.....just an observation...i don't bag and I use the side discharge, so I don't worry about it but i am sure some engineer said, go forward while using bagger

As a current owner of the previous gen Ego self propelled mower I was super disappointed with this newer version. The ergonomics were so bad I returned it after 1 mow. The handle redesign is a mess and I was constantly messing with the self propel knob when not wanting too. The removal of the handle in the front of the mower to its new position is baffling. The handle is now plastic vs the rubber padding of the previous. Newer is always better and I quickly found that out

I just bought a select cut XP power + with the 10 amp battery and when I stopped the machine it will not start again and I have to tip it to the side and clear grass out of the way you find this common. After that it'll start. It is a little frustrating in Tennessee with Kentucky bluegrass that is damp here it rains a lot.

Great video I have one question. The high lift blade looks great. But does the mulch blade cut up the leaves more so you do not have to empty the bag and fit more in your trash can? Both looked good but can you answer how the leaves are in the bag. Also does the XP come with a mulch blade?

So the key is the mulching blade? My gas mower went bad and I need a mower for the spring… I was disappointed when I tried my brothers EGO. Suction was bad…but it didn’t have the mulching blade. I saw that Toro 2022…has new suction technology…do you think that it may now have an edge on the EGO. Haven’t heard any big news on what EGO is doing in 2022? I think suction is a game changer for me. I have a lot of trees. I want to go battery…..Any thoughts? Great job on your videos!! Appreciate all you do to help!!!

@@Sjtabor2000 TME is right, if you have the 2020 EGO select cut you need to buy the high lift blade separately. That was the case with me. As soon as the new model came out with the dual blade with high lift I found the blade on one of TME’s affiliate links to Amazon and bought it. I think it was like $30 or $40. Put it on as soon as I got it and haven’t taken it off. This was a while ago so basically a full season of use. I absolutely love the blade. Even with the 2020 model I noticed a huge difference in lift especially when it comes to clumps of grass. Leaves are easy but grass clumps are heavier and that’s where the high lift blade shines. It also does a better job lifting the blade up while cutting leaving less stragglers. I would love to have the power increase with the 2021 but am very happy with my current configuration. Thanks to TME for all your vids on this topic. Helped greatly in making an informed decision!

I live in Alabama with 85% hardwood tree cover and pay a crew to do my summer trimming, blowing and grass. However, I am for sure going EV on the lawn tools to be rid of the stinky gas, oil, upkeep, plugs, filters etc. After researching several dozen videos, I am sold on EGO full product lines and will buy one of each and let my Honda gas go to charity. I like the fold-up aspect, as it enhances space for my books sold in 1,289 retailers statewide. Space is great and do not try this with a gas mower. I must say, this is the first video where there was a comparison for picking up just leaves, which is all I plan on doing, as they stop cutting my grass end of December and then the billions of leaves are a issue. My wife of 55 years of marriage and I stay active and have a mountain top home on Shades Mountain about 1,200 feet, on the rocky bluff side and own all the way down to the valley. We leave it to the Bobcats, Deer, Turkeys, etc., and only cut the front lawn, as we have rocks the size of small homes everywhere, but not so in front with beautiful Bermuda grass well kept. Fall & winter leaves should be more fun to deal with our coming EGO products and we plan on keeping our summer lawn care crew, as we find little joy in 90's plus temperatures, etc. I did see a video about the only issue of concern about EGO, that they are seeing some degrading of battery life in recent years, so I hope this issue with their battery supplier is resolved, as that seemed to be a contentious problem with customers. Have you heard about this issue?

Otherwise I’ve had nothing but a good experience and I talk to a lot of people on the channel and haven’t heard anything major. I’ve also had good experiences with Ego customer service. I feel they stand behind their batteries in their products and I purchase most of the items that I review, especially my ego stuff. I wish they sponsored me more.

Doesn’t seem a high lift blade is made for your mower, mulching no matter what with a mower is messy. Having a high lift blade helps with the suction for sure. Without it I wouldn’t bother but you can try with your normal blade and the bagger and see for yourself

I’m an Ego product addict. But this was not for me. For one I NEVER bag. And two I NEVER mow over that many leaves . I have a wood line at the end of my back yard to put yard waste. I rake small front yard & then use my Ego XP mulching blade to get the rest. Both of those things r good for the lawn. Then I blow most of the heavy layer of leaves with my Ego 615 blower to the wood line in the back & then use my toro timemaster 30 inch mulching mower to beautifully do the larger back yard. Using two different blades didn’t seem like a fair test. And mowing backwards instead of showing the first pass was not helpful.
