The first time I played Half-Life 2, I hadn't picked up on the fact the Strider creatures were based on the Tripods from War of the Worlds. Their three legs and gigantic size was so obvious!
@prehistorichero2755it is even mentioned in one of the radios in crysis two: a machine came out of the ground and started blasting people, like star wars or war of the worlds or something.
5:46 the shot of the ship is a modified d’deridex class warbird top section with a different paint scheme. Don’t know how they were legally allowed to use this considering this configuration has already been used in Enterprise for an alien ship.
You know, no one is supposed to be sober while watching Asylum F films. I would love to see a new series called something along the lines of, "pupbennies stoner corner", where you treat absurd comedies with serious critique.
2005 was an interesting year to be a WOTW fan. Asylum made it's WOTW, that had little to do with the book, and more or less terrible production quality. Pendragon Pictures made the most faithful adaptation ever, with the budget of a salami sandwich. And then Spielberg made his amazing looking movie, that had little to do with the book.
So like the asylum made their own version yeah but they did one in 2005 after the Spielberg film and it looks good but it could have improved CGI work , because it basically has the core things of the novel :" a man trying to reunite with his family during a martian invasion and meeting strangers and surviving with them on the way"
Their 2005 attempt wasn't half-bad. Weirdly faithful, in some aspects. *Allegedly* they were only prompted to release that one bc the Cruise/Spielberg one was coming out, and *allegedly* they've had a completed early script for it floating abt their office since the late 90's ('96?). Which means it was probably prompted by Independance Day, which was itself initially meant to be an adaptation of War of the Worlds. Just War of the Worlds all the way down. Layered, like an onion, or parfait. That said, the '05 Asylum one remains their only "Good" movie in my eyes, and has a place of pride on my DVD Shelf bc I have a soft spot for it. Sry for the text wall TL;DR- There's a lot on WotW-related film trivia
Even from the perspective of 'it's a B-movie', I'd say 2021 War Of The Worlds is pretty bland. A lot of these type of films can be enjoyable, with the right mindset, but this one was pretty boring, in my opinion. That being said, the way I look at it is at least the book being in the public domain increases the chances of a decent version getting made eventually. Even if we get ones that don't live up to the name, at least people are trying and, hopefully, sometime we'll get a pretty good adaption of The War Of The Worlds.
Y'know I remember being so damn excited when I first saw the trailer of this like I actually thought it was gonna be awesome and they even looked like tripods in the trailer and after the waiting and excitement I get shitted on x_x Also what do you think of the insight comics war of the worlds and their tripod, cylinder and martian design?
Hadn't heard of these comics, but it seems interesting. Quite different. I see some things that kind of look like centipedes or something, are those the tripods? They look really organic.
@@pupbenny oh ye also since your opinion and reviews of the last war of the worlds adaptations actually helped me with ideas for my war of the worlds inspired story I'd actually like you to say what you think of these concepts for it if that's okay with you?
Ngl the designs for the tripods are pretty good if you ask me… everything else though hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm, mmm, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
